1950 Chrysler Imperial. In good condition with all systems in good working order.  All gauges, radio, power windows power brakes, built in back up lights work as they should.
A brief history of the car.

1951-1975
Was originally purchased in Inianapolis by the owner of Capitol Glass Company, Ralph Reibeling on 3-22-1951.  The original owner kept very good servicing records.  For the first 7 years he took it in to the Chrysler Agency every month for servicing.  Even after he purchased another vehicle for his main car, he still took it to the dealer for transmission rebuilding.

1975-1999
The second owner rarely drove the car but had the engine overhauled when the head gasket failed and leaked coolant into the cylinders(12,000 miles back).  Sometime during this ownership the car was repainted.  In 1986 the car was used in the movie "Hoosier's" with Gene Hackman.

1999-2007
The 3rd owner did little more than keep it in dry storage and roadworthy.  In their 8 years of ownership it was driven less than 4,000 miles.

2007-
I purchased the car from the 3rd owner in Wolcottville, Indiana.

The car is all original except for the repaint from between 25 and 35 years ago and the front seat cushion and the package tray was recovered in matching original type wool broadcloth.  It has had the oil pan removed, cleaned and replaced with fresh gaskets. The fuel pump and water pump have been replaced.  The relays in each door for the power windows have been cleaned and serviced for worry free operation of the power windows(fully electric power windows, an industry first).  It has the Prestomatic 4 speed fluid drive "Tip Toe" automatic transmission that has never given any trouble and is effortless to drive.
The electrical system is the original 6 volt system with original bulls eye headlights, electric wipers.

This car is ready to be driven anywhere. We have used the car for car club tours(both AACA and CCCA).  It has just had a though inspection and is ready for spring.

2013 Ram HD and Chassis Cab pickups are ready for work [UPDATE]

Thu, 27 Sep 2012

Auto enthusiasts often point to the pony car wars as the last bastion of one-upsmanship among Detroit's automakers, but the truth is, the pickup wars are every bit as competitive - if not more so. Auburn Hills keeps a ready eye on what their rivals in Dearborn and Detroit are doing, and vice-versa. Today, that battle is renewed with the introduction of Ram's 2013 Heavy Duty and Chassis Cab lines at the State Fair of Texas. Why a state fair? The Banner State is the perfect battleground for pickup supremacy, as Texas accounts for one of every five pickups sold in the U.S.
Towing and hauling metrics are poised for a substantial improvement. "... and not just by a little bit."
On the HD front, Chrysler is boasting that its brand-new heavies will bring best-in-class towing, torque, payload and Gross Combined Weight Rating, but thus far, it's declining to cite what those figures are. For the moment, though, Fred Diaz, President and CEO of Ram told us at an Auburn Hills background event earlier this month that key towing and hauling metrics are poised for a substantial improvement. "And not just by a little bit. I think we're going to shock the world," said Diaz.

2013 Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

Who is John Varvatos? If you're like me, that's the question you were asking after seeing commercials that advertised a limited-edition model of the Chrysler 300 with this mystery man's name attached. If you're not like me and consider yourself a fashionista even in the slightest, then you probably already know that John Varvatos is a successful menswear designer who cut his teeth in the fashion houses of Ralph Lauren's Polo and Calvin Klein. He's also a native of Detroit, which makes the joining of his brand and that of Chrysler's more intelligible, what with the Auburn Hills-based automaker still eking efficacy from its nearly three-year-old "Imported from Detroit" tagline.
Whenever one of these co-branded vehicles crosses my path, I try to judge them according to some simple questions. The first is, does the co-branding make sense for the target audience? And the second is, do the changes improve or diminish the experience of the standard vehicle? With this partnership, both brands are clearly aiming at the same target, or perhaps Chrysler hopes its aim will improve by partnering with the JV set, bringing it closer to that bullseye of style-conscious trendsetters.
The second question, meanwhile, can be answered with your eyes alone, as no mechanical changes are included among the Varvatos upgrades. Despite that, the 300C John Varvatos Edition is priced above - well above - all other 300 sedans save the 300 SRT8, suggesting that cool is not sold by the barrel (was it ever?) and Mr. Varvatos is a dealer in the stuff. Yet while I couldn't actually tell you if John Varvatos was a designer or a ditch digger before Chrysler introduced us, I do like his style, and the man knows how to dress a car.

How the demise of Lincoln's Town Car has kick-started a limo revolution

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

The deaths of the Ford Crown Victoria and the Lincoln Town Car have meant overhauls of three high-profile American fleets: police, taxi and livery car. Just as police fleets are more open to considering other options and a Nissan van is the new face of the NYC taxi, livery car companies are looking at replacements for the Town Car beyond The Blue Oval. Ford, via Lincoln, has made an MKT Town Car (pictured), but an article in the Detroit News claims "it has failed to win over most of the big limousine companies." The upstarts trying to move in include livery and limo editions of the Cadillac XTS, and livery specifications of the Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300.
Each of those challengers, however, faces challenges. The Town Car was a workhorse, American, rear-wheel-drive sedan with plenty of rear legroom. Cadillac has been in the livery space before but with decontented models that were about selling the brand, not its luxury. It is taking the opposite approach with the XTS, pointing out that its livery edition is "contented in the upper half of the XTS range." Still, the CEO of Michigan's largest livery company says "it's quite a bit smaller than what we're used to," and he also prefers rear-wheel drive.
The Chrysler 300 is rear-wheel drive, and American, which matters to some companies, but Chrysler hasn't yet revealed the livery package for it. The livery Avalon marks Toyota's first time getting into that business in the US, a natural step after having done so well with taxi clients and with the Town Car out of the way. Still, the livery client is a different to taxi buyers, so the Avalon could face other soft-touch hurdles.
