1948 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible Here is a very rare restoration project, or a prime candidate as a high end street rod. Very few cars survive the rust that we get here in the Midwest, so this is an exception the rule here. This car was part of a 40 year old collection of Town & Country autos and is one the best unrestored body I have seen. The car was previously bought as a restoration project, as the owner had pasted away. I have owned this car for a number of years now and I have too many projects, too little storage, and not enough time!!! As the pictures show there is only surface rust. The undercarriage is surface rust only. I have been collecting parts for this car, and have hung all the sheet metal to show it as a complete vehicle. It does have a new set of Denman wide whitewall tires on it. They are several years old and are like new. It is minus the original engine / transmission (see paragraph below), front bumper, grill and chrome. The glass is in decent shape; with the exception of the vent windows…starting to yellow at the edges and the back window does have a crack in it. The convertible top is in good shape, but needs TLC at the rear windows. I have original front seat base and there is also an extra set of seats for a coupe that go with the car all of which need restored. I do have a complete 8 cylinder engine / transmission and a set of Kelsey/ Hayes wire rims for an additional fee if desired. Jeep follows up Super Bowl spot with call to help the USO
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Once again, Chrysler had one of the most talked about Super Bowl commercials with its two-minute Whole Again Jeep spot, which was used to highlight its Operation SAFE Return program for US military personnel returning home from active duty. As part of this campaign, Jeep announced today that it will be donating up to $300,000 to the United Services Organizations (USO), and you can help.
Simply tweet using the #joinOSR hashtag on Twitter, visit the Yahoo! homepage or go to the Jeep Operation SAFE Return website, and Jeep will donate $1 to a fund that provides returning troops things like employment assistance and incentives to buy new vehicles. Jeep is also donating to this charity to the tune of $250 for each Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited (including the Freedom Edition model) and Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition model sold.
Chrysler and Google launch virtual 200 factory tour [w/video]
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Google is no stranger to showing off some of the most interesting automotive destinations in the world, like the museums for Lamborghini and Ducati, or even a Tesla showroom. However, it's taking that technology even further with a new, in-depth look of the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant where the Chrysler 200 is made. Unlike these earlier online excursions, the new Chrysler factory tour is a fully guided experience that includes several 360-degree videos explaining many parts of the production process.
"Just as we pioneered a completely new Chrysler 200, we are pioneering a new way for consumers to research a vehicle. The Factory Tour is an opportunity for us to prove to consumers that the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is not one ever built before," said Olivier Francois, Chrysler's chief marketing officer, in the company's release.
Chrysler was already pretty proud of its nearly $1 billion in recent updates to the Sterling Heights factory having released a look at the 200's assembly process earlier this year. However, the new Google tour goes far deeper by including 12 videos, and between highlighted stops, viewers can swing the camera all over to get a full view of the action. The whole thing is an intriguing way to show the way a modern car gets built.
Marchionne to take his sweater and go home after 2018
Wed, 08 Oct 2014The end is in sight for Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne, who confirmed in an interview with Bloomberg that once FCA's sweeping five-year plan is completed, he'd be stepping down from his post to "undoubtedly" do something else that didn't involve turning around global corporations. That would mean he should finish up after 2018 if all goes according to plan.
"It's as important to walk away from the table as it is to sit down," Marchionne told Bloomberg.
Marchionne has been at Fiat since June of 2004 and is one of the chief architects behind the Italian company's acquisition of Chrysler. Despite his successes, he does sound quite ready to move beyond the auto industry, rhetorically asking his Bloomberg interviewers if there "are other things I like to do apart from this?"
