1961 Chrysler New Yorker 2 Door Hardtop Rust Free California Car on 2040-cars

Year:1961 Mileage:79621
Location:

Davis, California, United States

Davis, California, United States

For sale is a rare unrestored 1961 Chrysler New Yorker 2 door hardtop.  It is and always has been to the best of my knowledge a dry California car.  Other than some minor surface rust, the car is virtually rust free.  It is loaded with options including power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat and air conditoning.  The car has been off the road for nearly 30 years suggesting that the 79,000 miles on the odometer is likely correct.  I have not tried to start the car but it looks like with a little tinkering, it may be a runner (but I can not be positive).  The interior will need to be redone and the car does need paint.  The car is mostly complete but is missing the top of the back seat (I believe I know where one is) and is missing the passenger side stainless piece and the bottom of the passenger front fender (again I think I have a source for this).  Please note:...the wheels and tires pictured on the car do not go with the car.  The car will have its original wheels, tires and hubcaps reinstalled at the close of the auction.  The wire wheels and tires are off of my 1961 Chrysler wagon and were put on the New Yorker so you could get an idea of how beautiful the car is with them on.  Please bid accordingly.  The car is sold as is where is with no warrantly (it is a 50 plus year old car).  I would be more than happy to show you the car and welcome any questions you may have.  I am a Chrysler lover and this car is one of the neatest excercises in automotive styling ever.  With the canted headlights, the full body fins and the luminesent dash...it does not get any more wild than this.  Add in the fact that this car shares the exact same body as the 300 this year and the fact that it is covered in stainless steel (unlike the 300) and you have one really sweet car.  The only reason I am selling this car is to raise funds for two current project cars I have that are in the process of restoration (otherwise it would not be for sale) so I am not interested in trades (but thanks anyway).  I appreciate your looking and good luck bidding.  Thanks again.  (530) 723-2145.

Chrysler launches new Ram ads and gears up for Super Bowl XLV [w/videos]

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

Perhaps no car company has made bigger splashes in the last two years at the Super Bowl than Chrysler, and the automaker's marketing chief, Olivier Francois, said today that he plans to be all over the big game again in February.
Last year, the company made an ad featuring Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood. The spot achieved viral status quickly when pundits charged that Eastwood's lines were politically motivated; meant to appeal to progressive voters/viewers favoring a second term for President Obama. In 2011, agency Wieden & Kennedy burst into the game with a now famous commercial featuring Eminem. Both ads have supported Chrysler's "Imported from Detroit" marketing platform.
Francois briefed reporters Monday at the Detroit Opera House while he also debuted a new series of ads for the Ram brand.

Chrysler highlights Mopar lineup for SEMA

Wed, 30 Oct 2013

SEMA is all about aftermarket parts, and in Auburn Hills that all comes down to one name: Mopar. After having previewed its lineup for this year's Vegas tuner expo earlier this month, Chrysler has now revealed what may not quite be its full dossier of modified show cars, but a good portion of them.
All told Mopar is preparing 20 vehicles for display at SEMA this year. Among them you'll find the Ram Sun Chaser, a 1500 Quad Cab show truck kitted out in two-tone orange and black paint, a roof rack for surfboards, onboard shower and convertible tailgate. The white Fiat 500L is called the Adventurer and is modified for a more rugged look that could hint at the upcoming crossover version. The Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver upgrades on the Trailhawk package with everything from roof basket to rock rails. To counterbalance the off-roaders, there's also a modified Chrysler 300S with a deep black paint job, special grille, Varvatos-edition wheels and more.
All four concepts details so far have Katzkin interiors as well, and there's also an unspecified Dodge Durango with a storm-trooper look in the gallery above. But for more details on what Mopar has installed on the Ram, 500L, Cherokee and 300, you'll want to delve into the press release below.

Chrysler to veer away from 'Imported From Detroit' message?

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

Claim some ground, control that ground and then expand. Chrysler, wandering the Earth like Kane from Kung-Fu when it came to brand message after the bailouts, pulled off the first two feats in only 120 seconds when its "Imported from Detroit" commercial aired during the 2011 Super Bowl. Two years later and now that the brand has a center in the minds of consumers, the Chrysler Group's head of marketing, Olivier Francois, says it's time to move away from the "Detroit" component of that slogan and express the "Imported" aspect.
It is, more precisely, about positioning Chrysler as genuine competition for imports and not Ford or General Motors, but rather Toyota on quality or Audi on technology. A report in Forbes said that Francois not only "wants to attract import owners to Chrysler vehicles by focusing on quality, technology, fuel economy and style," but to "take back the lead in these four things." That is the new understanding he wants people to infer from the idea of Detroit - that the nation's car capital isn't just a patriotic rallying point but a lively competitor for established giants.
Chrysler has been running ads that no longer refer to Detroit, and recent efforts have linked a specific character to each brand - like Jenny with Jeep and Steven with the Chrysler 300 - to create brand separation. Francois hasn't detailed what he plans to do to bolster Chrysler's upscale pretensions, but his efforts would be helped by CEO Sergio Marchionne loosing the pursestrings and the arrival of strong new product.
