Vehicle Condition

You are viewing a 1967 Chrysler Newport Convertible. This 1967 Chrysler convertible is a relatively rare car with only around 2800 produced. This is a very solid number 3 condition car that could be driven and enjoyed as is or restored all the way up to show level.

Mechanically the car runs great and has lots of power!  It floats down the road effortlessly and is a real blast to drive!  Odometer displays 63,152 miles which appears to be original.  The fender tag and VIN plate are still intact. The car still retains its original factory 383 engine and drivetrain. It has a clean straight body but somewhat weak paint. Under-carriage appears solid, remnants of the original factory undercoating are still present. No visible rust in the fenders, doors, hood, deck lid, floors, trunkpan (very minor surface rust only). This Chrysler is well optioned with Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power Windows, Power Top, Factory A/C, tinted glass windshield. The interior was recently re-finished in the correct factory material purchased from SMS Fabrics.

What it needs

Since the car spent many years in storage it needs the following:

AC charged

Power windows need to be serviced. 2 motors are good and 2 of the motors will need replacement.

Radio does not work (I think it is simply a fuse since it was recently working)

Paint – A good paint job would easily double the value of the car.

Work recently completed

Lots of $ have already been spent of this car. Recent restoration improvements include:

New Convertible Top Replacement in the Factory correct cologne grain pattern

New Rear “Glass” Window. (Just like the original factory install)

New Convertible Top Rubber Seals

New Convertible Top Latches

New Front Windshield

New Interior – Front and Back seats completed in the factory exact “Metallic Red” including the  correct “Cross-Hatch” pattern material specific to 1967 Newports and 300’s

Complete engine tune-up including new plugs, ignition cables, timing adjustment, etc.

New Carburetor & Fuel Pump

New Fuel Lines (Stainless Steel lines from fuel tank to fuel pump)

New replacement Fuel Tank & Straps

New Fuel Tank Sender

New Radiator

727 Automatic Transmission serviced and all seals replaced

New Automatic Transmission Lines (Stainless Steel)

Disc Brakes recently serviced (Stops great!!)

Collector Car Market Valuation

Chrysler trademark suggest new Rebel in the family

Mon, 05 May 2014

Trademark filings can be a first alert in the auto industry that something is coming. For example, Lamborghini trademarked Aventador before we saw its supercar, and Chevrolet did the same thing with Z28. Other times, an automaker files to protect a name and never does anything with it. Chrysler is dredging up a brand from the past by filing a US request for "Rebel." The name is specifically for "motor vehicles, namely automobiles, trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles and structural parts therefor," according to Ignitionist quoting the filing.
In the US, Rebel was previously used on some American Motors Corporation models. It even spawned a muscle car version called the Machine (pictured above). Chrysler eventually bought AMC when it bowed out of the auto industry in 1987.
Chrysler's plans for the name are a complete mystery at the moment. Although, it probably won't be a midsize sedan like the original. That just seems too unlikely given the brand's current, established lineup. Rebel seems like a fantastic name for the performance trim of a vehicle, though. The Jeep Renegade Rebel has a nice ring to it, and a Ram 1500 Rebel pickup could also work. We're going to have to wait and see what's in store for the moniker. Let us know in Comments what model you think would fit the Rebel name.

Watch the mechanical symphony of the Chrysler 200 build process

For those of you who can't get enough of the 2015 Chrysler 200, The Pentastar put together a short video following its new sedan down the line at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. As with the best new-baby albums, you'll see it take its first bath, be doted on by family members, put on its first pair of shoes and get all dressed up for an introduction to the world.
The only thing missing are its first words. You can follow it down the line in the video below.

SRT reveals Satin Vapor Edition 300, Charger and Challenger SRT models

Fri, 07 Feb 2014

With the exception of some notable truck and van introductions, Chrysler brands have tended to use the Chicago Auto Show to bring out new special editions, pimp their aftermarket parts support or indulge in the occasional flight of fancy. That plan is holding true for 2014, as well. Cases in point are these new Satin Vapor Editions of the 2014-model-year Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 - all from SRT.
The Satin Vapor name may sound like a failed 1970s glam-rock band, or a pseudo-gynecological diagnosis from the Old West, but is, in fact, pretty much a tape-and-trim package for this trio of hi-po Mopars. 300, Challenger and Charger alike come shod with 20-inch aluminum wheels finished in Black Satin Vapor Chrome, and are accented with Satin Black bits aplenty. The 300 gets blacked-out mirrors, spoiler and roof; the Challenger applies it to mirrors and its fuel door; while the Charger has the stuff covering its roof, hood and Super Bee tail graphic.
Interiors of the cars have been mildly updated as well, with all three getting some combination of Nappa leather, ultra-suede and carbon-fiberish finishes.
