2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser 4-door Limited Edition
2.4L 4 cylinder, auto transmission
Loaded - power everything, sunroof, chrome wheels, CD, alarm, leather seats
Vehicle has been parked for a little over a year. It had a problem where the battery kept draining overnight. We tried a new battery but that didn't seem to help. Needed a van for work anyway, so this was parked. We never got around to fixing it, but we no longer need the vehicle so it's time to sell.
We did have it running as recently as last fall, but the battery thing was still an issue, and we didn't bother putting the car back on the road.
Current issues besides battery problem - taillight broken, various dents (check pics), interior could use a cleaning from sitting, tires cracked from sitting and don't hold air overnight, and last time we moved it one of the rear brakes was hung up. I unstuck it, but I'm assuming there's a very good chance it might be stuck again..
Car has about 153,000 miles. I don't know the exact number, since it has a digital odometer and the battery is dead, and I don't have another battery to install in it.
Prior to the battery problem, this car had a top end rebuild - new head gasket, cylinder head, timing belt, and water pump. The engine ran great, no smoke or weird noises, transmission shifted fine, drove nice with no problems.
This car would be great for someone who's handy to buy it cheap and fix it up.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS...
You are bidding to BUY the car, not to come kick the tires or tinker with it in the driveway to get it running and drive it home. THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN HOME, it MUST be towed or trailered. A dolly could be used, but please note the tires are cracked and it's probably not a good idea unless they are changed. A rollback or flatbed is definitely recommended.
There is NO RESERVE, high bidder wins the car. The car is sold AS-IS, no warranty expressed or implied. YES, IT HAS A CLEAR TITLE.
High bidder must pay CASH upon pickup of vehicle, NO OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT please. No checks, no money orders, no PayPal. Cash is king here.
PA residents must have title transferred or notarized before taking car. Sorry, that's the way PA works.
High bidder must contact me within 24 hours of end of auction to arrange pickup. Pickup must be done as quickly as possible. I'd like it within a week to 10 days. I understand life gets in the way sometimes, and I'm generally a pretty easygoing guy, but please be reasonable.
Anyway, with all that out of the way, someone's gonna get a great deal here! Have fun bidding!

Chrysler investing $20M in Toledo plant to support 9-speed auto production
Sun, 28 Apr 2013In 2011, Chrysler announced a $72-million investment in its Toledo Machining Plant to modernize production of the eight- and nine-speed torque-converters for automatic transmissions made there. That upgrade work won't be finished until Q3 of this year, but Chrysler has already announced a further $19.6-million investment to increase production capacity for the nine-speeders.
The extra units will be necessary because the nine-speed transmission they'll be mated to is going into three popular models: it will debut on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, then go into the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. The company predicted that this year alone it would sell 200,000 units equipped with the nine-speed tranny, and it is spending some $374 million in addition to the investment in Toledo to upgrade production capacity for it.
The work attached to this new investment won't begin until Q3 of 2014, and it will be finished by the end of that year. There's a press release below with all the details.
Marchionne offers belated apology for 'wop engine' comment
Wed, 22 May 2013Automotive News reports Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has issued a written apology for his comments regarding his decision to stick with an Italian engine for the upcoming Alfa Romeo 4C. As you may recall, back in January, Marchionne was quoted as saying, "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it has to be a wop engine." The CEO penned an apology to the Italian American ONE VOICE Coalition for using the racial epithet, saying that he made the comment in jest. Marchionne also said he realizes his remarks were unacceptable.
ONE VOICE, an organization aimed at fighting discrimination and stereotyping of Italian Americans, thanked Marchionne, Chrysler and Fiat for the apology. Marchionne is an Italian-born Canadian citizen, and he's gotten in trouble for other comments in the past. In 2011, he called high interest rates Chrysler was paying to the Canadian government "shyster rates." He apologized a day later.
Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay
Sat, 23 Mar 2013A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.
