Hello, I am selling a very nice 1972 Datsun 240 Z for a friend of many years who has decided, reluctantly, to sell his toy of 24 years and head in a new automotive direction (Corvette).. My friend bought this car 24 years ago from the third owner. The first owner was in Newport, Virginia followed by an owner in Perry Hall and Lutherville Maryland. This Z has been treated well all its life and it really shows. The body is very good overall and was re-painted in 1995. The paint is holding up well and while not a show car does look very good. As is common with almost all the early Z cars there is some rust that should be attended to. Both rockers have some rust spots, below the deck lid and just a couple small holes on the rails inside the wheel wells. I've been an auto restorer for 35 years and nothing too hateful, rust wise, on the car. The pictures should explain the details. Front and rear bumper are solid, not marked or dented and look presentable. All glass good, windows work well as do wipers. The interior is basically original and really pretty nice. Great headliner, good dash with dashtop cover, decent seats and nice original door panels. All gauges except the clock work great.   All lights and heater work well. Oil has always been changed regularly. Motor runs cool , idles great, burns no oil, accelerates great and sounds perfect. Tranny shifts as is should. The following gives a little more details;
Replaced;brake master cylinder,front brake pads, ignition coil, rear brake shoes,rear wheel cylinders,fuel pump and fuel filter,muffler and tailpipe,oil and oil filter,starter,new windshield, new floor pans and alternator.
The car has its original hubcaps and had new tires about 20,000 miles ago. The radio is not original.  Car comes with a spare motor and transmission that was removed from a 80,000 mile running car. A spare hood is also included as are misc repair manuals, booklets and original owners manual.
In summary, this is over-all a very nice early 240Z needing some minor rust repairs to bring her back to excellent but can certainly be enjoyed as it is. A really great running Z that has been taken care of and is ready for its new owner. Thank you for looking and please email any questions. I will be glad to answer any questions on the phone, just send me your phone number and a good time to call and I'll get back to you. Thank you....Phillip

Datsun debuts new seven-seat Go+ in Indonesia [w/video]

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

The Datsun name may have long since been replaced by Nissan, but the old brand is making a comeback - in certain markets, at least. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand in July as its new budget brand for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback, and has now followed up with the addition of the larger Go+.
Set to be built in Indonesia at Nissan's plant in Purwakarta, the Go+ debuts today in the capital of Jakarta as the second model in the new Datsun lineup. The seven-passenger minivan features flexible seating in a compact form 13 feet long, powered by an unspecified 1.2-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Nissan isn't saying much else about the model, but hopes the new Datsun twins will account for half of its sales in Indonesia within three years. The low price target for both models - set to come in at less than 100 million rupiah ($8,700) - ought to help it get there. The lineup is then scheduled to reach other markets, starting with India, Russia and South Africa next year.

Datsun expands low-cost revival with new Mi-Do in Moscow [w/video]

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

Those who were disappointed when Datsun changed its name to Nissan over three decades ago may have been pleased to see the marque revived last year, even as a budget brand. Nissan's counterpart to its ally Renault's Dacia budget brand, Datsun has been steadily expanding its lineup of low-cost transportation for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback in India, the Go+ minivan in Indonesia and the On-Do sedan in Russia. And now it has returned to Moscow to reveal its fourth model, the Mi-Do.
Based closely on the On-Do sedan (which itself is based on the Lada Granta) the Mi-Do takes on a five-door hatchback bodystyle but with no more frills. It uses the same front-drive chassis with the same wheelbase as the sedan, but its chopped tail makes it a good foot and a half shorter overall. Into that compact shape, Datsun has fitted dual airbags, ABS and... well, that's about it. It's got a 1.6-liter, eight-valve inline-four kicking out a grand total of 87 horsepower to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Bare bones, this is.
While delivery of the first On-Do sedans commences next month (with the first example going to an IT specialist in Omsk), the Mi-Do is set to begin delivery early next year. Scope out the video and press release below from the Mi-Do's reveal at the Moscow Motor Show.

Nissan IDx 'in the plan' for production, needs support from fans [w/poll]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

If there's a trend in the auto industry we can firmly get behind, it's the small, light and affordable rear-drive coupe. The positive critical reception to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins has encouraged other manufacturers to look at building their own rear drivers, and even a few to show actual concept cars based on the idea. The Chevrolet Code 130R from 2012 and more recently, the Nissan IDx twins that were first shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show both come to mind, as does the brand-new Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.
Nissan trotted out the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow for another showing in Detroit and we'll admit to being totally smitten with both cars. Again. The duo draw inspiration from the iconic Datsun 510, a lightweight, affordable rear-driver that remains a cult favorite decades after production ended.
Now, a report from our friends at AutoWeek reveals that we may, possibly, hopefully see a production IDx, provided fans make a strong enough case for it. "It's in the plan," Nissan product boss Andy Palmer told AW. According to the report, Palmer said the IDx is "into the first sage of the development process. The next stage is project validation and then looking at the business case. It's no one's intent to waste millions of the company's money, so obviously we have a good feeling about this one."
