1978 Datsun 280z Base Coupe 2-door on 2040-cars

US $1,700.00
Year:1978 Mileage:58822 Color: has some rust spots throughout
Location:

Shelby, North Carolina, United States

Shelby, North Carolina, United States

Up for sale is a 1978 Datsun 280z. Interior is in good shape, has a few cracks in the dash like most Z's. Factory A/C is functional. Custom Momo Shift knob, GT style steering wheel. Everything else is stock original on the inside. No cracks in any windows, carpet is in decent shape. Center console is in good shape. Interior is 8 / 10 overall. Exterior has some rust spots throughout. There is one hole behind passenger seat in floorboard. There are a few holes under the rocker panels (typical on most Z's)  that can be patched. Car shows signs of having been undercoated in the past. Car has old-school Enkei style wheels. Tires are in decent shape, all hold air. Rear bumper has been replaced with 260z style one. Front bumper: delete. Has aftermarket front air-dam. Hood has been primed flat black and is ready for paint.

The engine is a stock L28E. 5 spd manual trans. I have swapped the fuel injection system over to dual weber carburetors. Car will crank but is not quite drive-able. Carburetors will need to be cleaned and a new fuel pump relay switch is needed along with a few other odds and ends. I was able to take the car down the road a few weeks ago but it ran rough and showed signs of the fuel injection system being faulty so I purchased a used set of weber carbs for it online and have them installed currently. I still have the original fuel injection system if you would like to convert it back over. (The AFM was bad on the system and I was not interested in messing with it. )

Overall, I think that the car is a great candidate for a restore project. With a little more work it will be fully drive-able. I do NOT have a title for the car. I will write out a bill of sale for it upon pickup. I Would love to finish the car myself but with my current schedule I am unable to do so. Please note that the car WILL need to be hauled home by trailer. A 500$ immediate deposit is required upon auction end. I would like to disclose that I am very familiar with eBay and have been using it for over 10 years now. I just recently made a new account here and would like to reassure any potential buyers that I am aware of all dynamics of the site. If you have any questions about the car, please do not hesitate to ask. I would prefer all questions to be made prior to bidding on the car in order to reduce any possible confusion. Thanks for looking and good luck.

Datsun debuts new seven-seat Go+ in Indonesia [w/video]

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

The Datsun name may have long since been replaced by Nissan, but the old brand is making a comeback - in certain markets, at least. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand in July as its new budget brand for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback, and has now followed up with the addition of the larger Go+.
Set to be built in Indonesia at Nissan's plant in Purwakarta, the Go+ debuts today in the capital of Jakarta as the second model in the new Datsun lineup. The seven-passenger minivan features flexible seating in a compact form 13 feet long, powered by an unspecified 1.2-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Nissan isn't saying much else about the model, but hopes the new Datsun twins will account for half of its sales in Indonesia within three years. The low price target for both models - set to come in at less than 100 million rupiah ($8,700) - ought to help it get there. The lineup is then scheduled to reach other markets, starting with India, Russia and South Africa next year.

This father and son duo terrorize the UK countryside in Datsun 240Z pair

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood. Check out this video from Petrolicious for a father and son who both find something to love in these classic Japanese coupes.

37K miles in a 1967 Datsun Roadster

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

When we think of comfy, long-distance road cars, there are a few obvious choices. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley Continental GT or, assuming fuel efficiency isn't paramount, a Range Rover are all good options for a road trip. But what if that road trip was 37,000 miles? Maybe something more reliable but still comfortable, then, like a Honda Accord. What about a 1967 Datsun Roadster?
As insane as it sounds, Scott Fisher is doing just that, running a Datsun 1600 Roadster across North America and racking up 13,500 miles in his first three months on the road. His total journey will see him pile over 37,000 miles on his red convertible. The car is lightly modified, but most of the work is for the sake of reliability and comfort, with a five-speed manual 'box, an upgraded radiator and electronic ignition.
Fisher's trip hasn't been all smooth, with a few typical bits of trouble. He also ran into some deer in Utah, quite literally, clipping one of the animals, which delivered quite a bit of damage to the passenger's front fender (hence the rear three-quarter view in our lead shot). Still, the car seems to be holding up well, as shown in this latest video from Petrolicious.
