Here is a true survivor 1978 Datson 280Z  2 seater. The car runs and drives great, however I would recomend you trailer it or ship it home. It has been sitting for about 15 years in storage. It will need tires and a tune up as well as the brakes blead. I fired it up the other day and the longer I run it the better it ran. The clutch started slipping so I brought it to the mechanic to have the clutch fixed but it was only a mouse nest in the bellhousing, so I had him put the new clutch kit in anyway. I drove it home at highway speeds it ran out just fine. (about 20 miles) breaks were a little spongey but worked great. I also put in a new battery.

The A/C still blows COLD!

Spare tire, jack, and charge bottle for the spare are still in trunk...( These are very hard to find)

As far as the body goes It's in great shape for a 78 datson....The floor pans are perfect, rockers are perfect, door bottoms are perfect, inner fenders are perfect. The only bad part about the car is somone in 1985 brought it in to a shop and put the fender flares on it. ( which are cracking where they meet the body) I think they got busted up in storage from being bumped all the time. In my opinion I would put new rear quarters on it and bring it back to orginal. (look at the pictures I showed a reciept for the work done in 1985)

The other bad spot on the car is underneath the floor pans is a square tube that runs from front to back ( looks like the frame molded into the floor pans) on that piece where the car has scraped the ground or what ever, it scraped the undercoating off of it so a few spots rusted out not on the sides just the bottom looks like three spots about 2'' wide by 4'' long nothing too serious.

I have the owners manual as well as the orginal window sticker from when it was new. (look at pictures)

This would be a great car to restore or just drive it the way it is!

This father and son duo terrorize the UK countryside in Datsun 240Z pair

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood. Check out this video from Petrolicious for a father and son who both find something to love in these classic Japanese coupes.

Datsun to unveil second model later this month

Sun, 08 Sep 2013

Datsun, Nissan's new sub-brand for emerging markets, has announced plans to unveil its second model. Its first, the Go, was unveiled almost two months ago, and promised affordable, connected motoring for five in a handsome hatchback body. Datsun is following that up with a pair of new models for Indonesia.
The first of these two new vehicles will be shown on September 17 in Jakarta, eschewing the typical auto show debut. It's targeted at so-called "risers," the nickname for a group of highly aspirational customers in the Indonesian market. Datsun developed it locally with help from Nissan, and it'll cost under 100 million Indonesian rupiah (about $8,900 at today's rates).
We'll have the full boatload of information on the newest member of the Datsun family when it debuts on September 17. Scroll on to read the full press release from Datsun.

Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.
