1971 Dodge Challenger for sale for the first time in almost thirty years from a private collection. Purchased from
San Diego California in 1989, This Dodge Challenger underwent a complete, professional restoration in 2008.
Dawning its original color of Plum Crazy , (paint code FC7). Under the hood is a completely rebuilt 440 bored 30
over with 480 lift cam. The motor accessories such as water pump, thermostat, starter, alternator, plugs, wires,
battery, belts, hoses, power steering pump and power steering box , etc etc. were all new with the 2008 rebuild.
The automatic 727 transmission was also rebuilt with a 2500 stall converter and shift kit added. The drive shaft
rebuilt and balanced connected to an 8 ¾ posi traction rear end with 3:55 street gears. The bottom of the car is
very solid, with a new fuel tank, factory stock 2 ½ inch exhaust to stock quad stainless steel trumpets. New
Stainless steel brake and fuel lines and hoses were installed with completely new disc brakes up front and drum
brakes in the rear. The trunk area is meticulous and complete with the original jack assembly and rare space saver
spare tire and kit with floor mat. The trunk is solid there is no rust anywhere on the entire car. The front
and rear grills were restored. The bumpers and all trim are in fantastic condition. New flip top fuel cap. The
interior is in great condition. There are no cracks in the dash. It has the original AM/ FM radio with a new
speaker and antenna which work fine. The door panels are great. The wood trim steering wheel is very nice. The
manual convertible top is perfect, with a real glass window. Everything works, blinkers, turn signals, lights,
blinkers, interior courtesy lights, dash lights, door open buzzer noise etc,, The car starts , runs, steers and
stops fine. Windows roll up and down fine. The body and paint on this car are excellent. The doors trunk and hood
line up very well. No waves down the side. No dings or dents anywhere. I do drive this car on rare occasion. No
pulling to one side or vibrating at top speeds. I have a complete original build sheet for this car . There were
only 1,774 Convertible V8 Challengers built in 1971, I’m not sure how many were painted Plum Crazy.

Dodge Challenger Scat Pack adds power and noise, with a warranty

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

If you want to go fast, there's certainly nothing wrong with the Dodge Challenger SRT8. With 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque for 2014, there's certainly not much to complain about. But what if you want something more aftermarket in flavor? There's no shortage of options, but while turning to the tuner world will make your car plenty fast, that extra power won't just shred rear tires, it'll torch your warranty, as well. That's where Dodge's Scat Pack comes in.
With three stages of mods for both the 5.7 and 6.4-liter Hemi V8s Challenger (as well as the 5.7-liter Charger and, soon, the four-pot Dart), the Scat Pack cars give drivers all the power, aggression and noise of a heavily modded aftermarket car while maintaining the piece of mind provided by the Dodge warranty.
Power gets bumped up to 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque with the 6.4-liter Scat Pack, while the 5.7-liter can provide up to 58 hp and 47 lb-ft of torque to add to the stock engine's 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet. It's the latter engine that can really get some work done, with upgrades ranging from the mundane - intake and exhaust - to the racy, like the ported heads and high-flow headers.

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat gets 22 mpg

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

With its crazy 707 horsepower on tap and roughly $60,000 starting price, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has been one of the most talked about cars of the summer, maybe even the year. However, there's always been one lingering question about the behemoth that Dodge has waited to answer until now - its fuel economy. The EPA ratings for the muscle car are finally out, and the numbers are actually pretty impressive for a vehicle with this much power.
A 2015 Challenger Hellcat with the eight-speed automatic is rated at 22 miles per gallon highway, 13 mpg city and 16 mpg combined. Opting for the six-speed manual drops those figures to 21 mpg highway, 13 mpg city and 16 mpg combined.
"As the fastest muscle car ever, the Challenger Hellcat can run 10-second ETs [elapsed times] at the track, and then get 22 miles per gallon on the drive home. With a starting price of $59,995, there's nothing else that even comes close," said Dodge and SRT President Tim Kuniskis in the company's release.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
