1973 Dodge Challenger Project on 2040-cars
Kerhonkson, New York, United States
My friend & I bought this icon of American muscle with the intention of doing a full restoration it but unfortunately the timing isn't working out for us.
Rolling chassis - but does come with a 440 engine & transmission. It has new rear inner & outer quarters, new trunk floor section, new deck lid. The frame and underside seems to be very solid (i.e. little or no rust!). The doors are both in very good condition again, with very little or no rust. The right front fender has some damage where it meets the door and some rust. The left has minor dents with rust. I'm sure both could be fixed by someone with experience. The whole car has been painted with gray primer. We inventoried all the parts then re-boxed & labeled them. We have two sets of rear lights & a few extra front ones. All the glass is there with the exception of the front windshield. I believe we have all parts for interior & exterior body work. Seats are all there with the rails - although they are not in great condition (see images). We have title & build sheet. I have described this item to the best of my knowledge and ability - and have included photos which describe the condition BUT I would recommend (and welcome) anyone interested to come have a look for yourself. Please feel free to ask any questions. |

Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]
Thu, 15 Aug 2013Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.
2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee
Tue, 12 Mar 2013I can pinpoint the exact moment when I fell in love with this car. It was starting down a nearly straight entrance ramp at 15 miles per hour when I buried the throttle. In a moment, I was thrown back into my seat as the big SRT8's engine came to life with commensurate sound, fury and force, bringing me up to 75 mph in what felt like two blinks of an eye. This thing feels so much quicker than its 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque would lead you to believe. And mashing the right pedal never, ever gets old.
But beyond sheer speed, I found a whole lot to like about the Charger SRT8 during my week with the Pitch Black test car here in Detroit. And while the whole Super Bee kit isn't really my style, it's really easy to overlook those badges for a package that offers so much for so little.

Chrysler recalls 350k vehicles over ignition switches
Thu, 25 Sep 2014Chrysler has announced a recall covering 349,442 vehicles due to ignition switches that can either become stuck or move without warning. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2008 model year, and were built before May 12, 2008.
The automaker has learned that ignition keys on some vehicles "may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position during engine-startup," the company said in a statement. Additionally, "an ignition key may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position and may inadvertently move through the 'ON' position to 'ACCESSORY' or 'OFF.'"
Chrysler says it is unaware of any related injuries, and notes that while reduced braking, engine or steering power is possible in such instances, the airbags are not affected. The later stands in contrast to General Motors' recent rash of high-profile recalls, and it's an important distinction that Chrysler (understandably) felt necessary to call out in bold print in its press release.
