THE CAR ALSO HAS AN OFFENHAUSTER INTAKE INSTALLED NOW, TORQUED FOR PERFORMANCE, WHICH DID HELP QUITE A BIT, BUT THE ORIGINAL INTAKE IS INCLUDED WITH THE SALE. THIS CAR HAS A CURRENT PENNSYLVANIA INSPECTION AND IS READY TO DRIVE. NEW PARTS INCLUDE REAR BRAKES, DRUMS, AXLE BEARINGS AND A BRAND NEW REAR BUMPER, WHICH IS QUITE PRICY. HONESTLY, THE PAINT IS PROBABLY A 6-7 OUT OF 10 AND IF YOU PLANNED ON SHOWING THIS CAR, IT WOULD NEED REPAINTED. HOWEVER, IT IS A SOLID NICE DRIVING CAR AS IS NOW. ALL THE CHROME AND TRIM ON THIS CAR IS ORIGINAL, SO THERE IS SOME PITTING/FLAWS, WHICH I TRIED MY BEST TO SHOW IN THE PICTURES. FOR THE MOST PART THIS IS A RUST FREE, NUMBERS MATCHING, ORIGINAL CONDITION CAR. THE INTERIOR ON THIS CAR IS PROBABLY AN 8 OUT OF 10 WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CRACKED DASH AND THE DRIVER'S ARMREST IS TORN, WHICH IS VERY COMMON FOR A CAR 46 YEARS OLD. THE OWNER ORDERED A ARM REST BUT WAS SENT A PASSENGER SIDE ONE IN ERROR, SO THAT WILL BE INCLUDED WITH SALE. Dodge Viper recall requires small-handed mechanics
Fri, 25 Apr 2014It has been over a year since Chrysler first announced its recall of 3,660 2003-2004 Dodge Vipers because the airbag could suddenly deploy. The repairs are finally beginning, and it appears to be a nightmare for mechanics.
According to the automaker's filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag control module can fail, which causes the bag or the seatbelt pre-tensioner to deploy without warning. It took over a year to design the new parts, according to The New York Times. However, Chrysler finally has a new "jumper harness with an in-line diode filter circuit" ready to fix the problem.
The dilemma now moves to the mechanics who have to actually install the part. A 47-step guide from Chrysler explains that the procedure should take about two hours. It's not an easy job, though. Most of the dashboard has to be taken apart, and the instructions include this helpful bit of advice: "Installing the jumper harness and filter box into position is not an easy task. Patience, perseverance, and small hands are required." We wish the best of luck to them. The fix comes just in time for the Vipers to enjoy the summer sun.
Chrysler recalling 31k SUVs and vans
Fri, 06 Jun 2014Chrysler is issuing recalls covering roughly 31,700 vehicles worldwide due to two separate problems. In both cases the company believes that most of the affected vehicles are either still on, or in transit to, dealer lots.
One recall covers roughly 10,700 Dodge Durango, Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SRT models from the 2014 model year built between January 16 and April 17, 2014. The SUVs need a software update for the cruise control. It's possible that when the cruise is on and the driver presses on the throttle, the acceleration could last a second after the pedal is released or two seconds for the SRT. Afterward, they return to the speed originally set by the driver.
Chrysler says it isn't aware of any accidents, injuries or even reported incidents of this happening in the real world. Also, in all cases, if the driver presses on the brake, the cruise shuts off. The automaker believes that there are about 6,100 affected SUVs in the US, 950 in Canada, 425 in Mexico and 3,200 outside of North America. The software upgrade will be ready shortly, the company says.
NHTSA investigating Chrysler for airbags, ignition switches
Wed, 18 Jun 2014Chrysler is being targeted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a pair of actions that focus on over 1.2 million Jeeps, minivans and crossovers.
The first is a "preliminary investigation" that focuses on an airbag issue afflicting the Jeep Commander built in model years 2006 and 2007 and Grand Cherokee from 2005 to 2006. In total, 700,000 vehicles could potentially be affected. It's not entirely clear what the airbag issue is, with The Detroit Free Press simply stating that the restraint systems in the affected Jeeps may be "faulty."
The other investigation is what's called a "recall query" and it covers a problem that General Motors should be familiar with. In this case, there could be a problem with the ignition switches of 525,000 vehicles, ranging from 2008 to 2010 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans, to the 2008 to 2010 Dodge Journey crossover. Again, it's not entirely clear what sort of behavior prompted the 32 complaints that NHTSA has received on these vehicles.
