1968 Dodge Charger R/t Hardtop 2-door 7.2l on 2040-cars

Year:1968 Mileage:2500
Location:

Riverdale, Georgia, United States

Riverdale, Georgia, United States

This is a 68 Charger RT tribute, it is not an original RT car.  It was originally a red 383 automatic car.  It currently has a 440 stroked to 500CI putting out 590HP on pump gas.  The engine has had extensive work (crank, pistons, cam, heads).  Compression is right at 10.9:1, hydraulic roller lifters, 850 CFM Proform carb with mechanical secondaries... I have installed an MSD Digital 6AL ignition with a 2 step (for future trans brake) and billet MSD distributor.  The tranny is a race built 727 Manual valve body with a Cheetah shifter, new engine torque strap, 3200 Hughes stall converter.  All front bushings are new.  The rear end was mini tubbed (professionally done looks excellent), Art Morrison back half with heavy duty frame connectors, ladder bar setup, 8 3/4 rear end with 391 Suregrip.  Front disc brakes (power), heavy duty sway bar, bucket seats, new custom upholstery, new window cranks, new mirrors, new LED tail lights, new side markers, front blinker/park lenses, new HID headlights (w/ballast), new engine harness, custom front spoiler,  working vacuum hide away headlights, new front and rear bumpers, new stock valve covers, new 10MM spark plug wires, new 17" Magnum wheels with new rubber (295/45 Mickey Thompson's in the rear), new hood blinker lights, door sill plates,  aluminum radiator, trans cooler, new air filter, new drive shaft loop, heavy duty 3" driveshaft, TTI headers, gas tank sump, new 140 amp alternator,  3 inch turn down exhaust w/single chamber Flowmaster mufflers, new ignition switch, 5" tach with programmable shift light, new simulated wood grain steering wheel.

The paint is about 3 years old.  It is Dodge color PXR Brilliant Black Peal and shows very well.  It has flat back bumble stripes.  The car was built to look mostly stock but is anything but. This car is a driver so it has a few nicks and dings here and there but overall looks extremely well.

2014 Dodge Durango priced from $29,795*

Wed, 14 Aug 2013

With all the new updates the Dodge Durango is getting for 2014, one thing that Dodge isn't changing on its big SUV is the starting price. Just like the current model year, the 2014 Dodge Durango will be priced from $29,795 (*not including $995 for destination).
This price is for the base SXT model, but the 2014 Durango is also offered in a new Limited trim level (replacing the Crew) as well as the sporty R/T and the luxurious Citadel. The Durango Limited starts at $35,995 (an increase of $800 over the 2013 Crew), while the R/T now starts at $38,995 (up $2,500). The top-of-the-line Durango Citadel will start at $40,995 - an increase of $1,000.
The many improvements made to the 2014 Durango include revised exterior styling, added in-cabin tech and an eight-speed automatic transmission (expected to return better fuel economy). Dodge is saying that the V6 models will get 25 miles per gallon on the highway while V8 models are expected to score 23-mpg highway, but there are no official EPA numbers to report yet. Scroll down for the full press release.

Is Mopar readying a special-edition Dart for Chicago?

Sat, 26 Jan 2013

Chrysler has released the above teaser of a limited-edition Mopar 2013 model that will be unveiled at next month's Chicago Auto Show. Although the automaker doesn't announce what vehicle will get the Mopar treatment, closer investigation of the seats and center console suggest that this car will be a special version of the 2013 Dodge Dart.
This will be the fourth Mopar model in as many years, following on the heels of the Mopar 2010 Challenger, Mopar 2011 Charger and the Mopar '2012 300. There are no details for the Mopar '13 Dart, but we do see that the car will retain the signature black-and-blue color scheme as past Mopar editions. Like these previous models, we expect production of Mopar '13 Dart to be limited to just 500 units.
Scroll down for Chrysler's press release teasing the new Mopar model, and we'll be sure to bring you plenty of live images from the show floor in a couple weeks.

Brits recreate iconic Bullitt chase scene

Tue, 13 May 2014

Recreating the famous chase scene from Bullitt has become almost an art form in its own right. We've seen it done in a music video, with scale models and even in commercials. There are few films that are as defined by a single scene as the 1968 classic. Even if you don't know a single beat of the plot, the Highland Green Ford Mustang racing a Dodge Charger through the hilly streets of San Francisco is famous. It's so well known that the Silverstone Classic has created a homage to promote its celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang at this year's event in July.
Filmed around the famous UK circuit, the short film generally gets the key points of the scene right. It even has a green Volkswagen Beetle that keeps reappearing, as in the movie. Unfortunately, its Steve McQueen stand-in looks a little too old for the role. While the video shortens the chase considerably, it's still great to see these '60s behemoths leaning and sliding around the track. Scroll down for a touch of nostalgia thanks to one of the greatest scenes ever in cinema - we've got both the recreation and the original chase seen from the movie waiting for you.
