Here is my 1960 Dodge Dart Seneca station wagon that I got back in 1990. This car was stored inside it's entire life. It belonged to the wife of a plumber. She didn't like it because it doesn't have power steering. The plumber then proceeded to park it inside of his plumbing supply store from 1961 until I bought it in 1990. At that time it had 28,000 miles on it. I cleaned it up and waxed it and drove it 20,000 miles over the next few years. It has spent a night outside since I've owned it. It's been in my dry heated garage.
As nice as this car is, it has certain flaws. There is a very small amount of rust on the bottom of the right rear quarter. The spare tire well has significant surface rust on the bottom. There is a small tear in the back seat. The left rear bumper wing shows signs of having hit something at some time. Paint is thin in spots but definitely too nice too re-paint. Chrome is nice but not perfect. All glass is perfect. Headliner is perfect. Rear mat in the cargo compartment is super nice.
I haven't driven this car in 11 years. I start it from time to time, but that's about it. In the meantime the brake cylinders all froze up and the gas in the tank turned to gum. Car runs fine on a small gas can. I removed the brake shoes so that the car would roll. They're in a box in the back.
Not too many old cars left in this kind of condition, let alone '60 Dodge station wagons. I have too many cars and need to make some room. Please e-mail with any questions.
I will help your shipper to load or my shipper can deliver to you. Car can set here as long as it takes to sort out shipping, no problem.

Please read: New Hampshire does not issue titles on cars this old. Car will be sold with a valid NH registration and notarized bill of sale. This documentation will get you a title in most places. If in doubt, please check with your local motor vehicle department.

Car is sold as is, but I can do repairs at a reasonable cost as necessary. I can facilitate shipment to Port Elizabeth  NJ for shipment to other countries.

Typo in line 3. It should read : It has not spent a night outside since I've owned it. Not once, not ever. I did get caught in the rain a few times, but always dried and garaged the car the same day.

Chop the top of your new Dodge Viper for $35,000

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

We have good news, and we have bad news. First, the good: It's now possible to get a brand-new Dodge Viper roadster, which is nice, considering we're in the dead of summer and many of us like wind-in-the-hair motoring. Now, the bad: This is not a factory option from the automaker, instead coming courtesy of an aftermarket company called Prefix Performance, and that means it's going to cost you some serious coin.
Called Medusa, this drop-top Viper was created without the knowledge or consent of Dodge, but that's probably fine because Prefix works with the automaker already for the final preparation of the American supercar, including paint. According to the company, the current, fifth-gen Viper was built with a convertible version in mind, so no chassis strengthening is required. From the looks of the somewhat grainy photos available, the conversion appears of very high quality.
Want one? Well, that means you're going to need to procure a Viper - Prefix has 10 units ready for transformation as it stands - and that's going to cost at the very least $102,485. Then, you'll need to write a check for an additional $35,000 for Prefix to surgically remove the car's roof. Thing is, for that kind of cash, a prospective owner could buy, among other very nice options, a Viper hardtop and a loaded Miata, or a Corvette Stingray convertible and several pockets full of change. Or, perhaps a new Viper hardtop and a used, first-gen Viper convertible?

Dodge Scat Packages add Mopar performance upgrades in three stages

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

Dodge has revealed what it calls Scat Package Stage Kits that enhance the performance of the Charger and the Challenger equipped with the 5.7-liter V8, and the Dart equipped with the turbocharged 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine. The Scat Packs use Mopar performance parts that also can be bought separately. Most of the upgrades increase engine output, but Dodge somehow manages to not specifically mention the power gains associated with each Scat Pack.
The three Scat Packs offered for the V8-powered cars focus on higher power ratings, and each stage comes complete with a unique engine-management calibration to optimize output. Stage one comes with a cold-air intake and a cat-back exhaust; stage two adds a performance camshaft; and stage three really gives you the goods, adding ported polished cylinder heads and performance headers.
For the Dart, the Scat Packs focus on engine, transmission, chassis and brake upgrades. Stage one will net you a cold-air intake, a short-throw shifter and slotted rotors with performance brake pads; stage two adds a cat-back exhaust system and an engine-management calibration to increase output by taking advantage of premium-octane gasoline; and stage three adds 13-inch vented brake discs up front clamped by four-piston calipers, suspension with adjustable springs and struts and performance front and rear antiroll bars.

Chrysler banks $507 million in Q2, trims 2013 earnings forecast

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Chrysler has some good news and some bad news. First, profits were up 16 percent over the second quarter of 2012, bringing the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based manufacturer $507 million on the back of strong demand for trucks and SUVs (a recurring theme this quarter, particularly in the US). Q2 revenue was up as well, from $16.8 billion in 2012 to $18 billion in 2013. The bad news is that the Pentastar's overall earnings forecast for net income in 2013 has been trimmed from $2.2 billion to between $1.7 and $2.2 billion, according to Automotive News.
In addition to the adjusted net income forecast, Chrysler tweaked its operating profit from $3.8 billion to between $3.3 and $3.8 billion. This has gone largely unexplained by Chrysler, perhaps hoping the news of a three-percent increase in its transaction prices for Q2 will allow it to sweep this adjustment under the rug.
The star of the show for Chrysler has been its US sales, which saw a 10-percent jump, both bettering the industry average of eight percent and improving over the same stretch of 2012. As with the increase in transaction prices, Chrysler has the new Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee to thank. Perhaps most worrying from this report, though, is that every brand in the automaker's stable saw an increase in sales... except for the Chrysler brand itself.
