Downingtown, Pennsylvania, United States

This is a very well maintained, garage kept, super clean, fully loaded, 02 Durango R/T with some extra goodies. Runs great, pulls strong.

5.9, 360ci engine
Full time AWD,
Premier Infinity sound system,
Remote start for those ice cold mornings,
Dual A/C for those blazing hot afternoons,
Helper springs to help with towing,
Trailer brake controller,
Front mounted 2 inch receiver hitch,
Rear 2 inch hitch with 7 round electrical connector,
Bluetooth CD stereo
Folding 3rd row seat (seats 7)
Two tone leather seats
Power everything

You name it, it's got it. Just as happy towing a 7000 lb trailer as it is taking the entire family to Hershey Park. And it's a beast in the rain and snow. The full time AWD means no matter the conditions you have all four wheels on the ground keeping you safe. I've made it up snow packed hills that BMW's and Chevy trucks could not. Even towed an older Suburban out of the sand at the beach once when his 4WD failed.

We call this the Baby Beast and for good reason. It's a powerful little beast in a package that you can park in your garage. I've never seen a more universally capable vehicle. It'll tow nearly 8000 lbs, it seats 7, I've put a 9' extension ladder in it. With all the seats down you'd be amazed at what you can fit in it.

Don't be fooled by other Durangos that have a 5.9 in them. Most of them are not the R/T version. That means they don't have the full time AWD, the Infinity sound system, the two tone leather or the tighter sprung suspension. Only the R/T had those. An SLT with a 5.9 is still a RWD truck that you have to switch into 4WD, and even then you can only go about 40 mph. With the R/T full time AWD you have AWD even at 70mph in the rain on the freeway. It makes all the difference.

I love this truck. If I weren't moving all the way to the west coast I'd keep it till judgement day, but such is life.

What's the deal with Chrysler demanding colleges crush their Vipers? [w/video]

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

Students and teachers at a Washington community college are up in arms following an order from Chrysler that it must destroy the pre-production Dodge Viper that was donated to the school's automotive technology program ten years ago.
The Viper in question is said to be the fourth off the production line, based on its VIN, and has had its emissions controls disabled, allowing its ten-cylinder engine to produce 600 horsepower, according to a report from Yahoo! Autos. As one of the first Vipers ever produced, the school's AT instructors claim it could be worth $250,000 in a museum, while a local news report purports that Jay Leno once tried to purchase the car, but the sale was prevented by Chrysler.
As pointed out by our friends at Autobytel, though, there are a lot of things in this story that don't quite add up. Immediately noticeable from the news report embedded below - which shows the car at South Puget Sound Community College - is that the car in question is not a 1992 model. When the Viper went on sale in 1992, it was only available as an RT/10 with a (flimsy) soft top, like the red car shown above. But the car featured in the report from KING5 News (inset image) is clearly a hardtop Viper GTS, which didn't enter production until 1996. And even if, as reported by a local newspaper, the hardtop featured is a prototype, it doesn't explain the lack of another iconic feature of the first Vipers - their distinctive side pipes. This kind of pokes holes in the school's argument that this is the fourth Viper to ever roll down the line. At best, this appears to be a pre-production Viper GTS.

Chrysler recalling over 280k minivans because airbags may deploy on wrong side

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Chrysler has issued a recall for some 2013 Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan and Ram C/V Tradesman vans built between May 10, 2012 and June 7, 2013. These vehicles may have a software error that would cause the wrong side (opposite side) airbags to deploy in a crash. With this defect, a left-side impact would cause the right-side airbag to deploy, etc.
The recall affects 281,500 vehicles in total: 224k in the US, 49,300 in Canada, 2,900 in Mexico and 5,300 in other locations. Chrysler will notify owners of effected vehicles, and reflash the offending occupant restraint control module to resolve the issue. Sat, 26 Jul 2014

Both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
It's ironic that Cadillac and Lincoln got new bosses within days of each other this month. It's also a commentary on the fact both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
