2005 Magnum R/t Supercharged 500 Hp Whiplash Smiles on 2040-cars
Denver, Colorado, United States
Original owner, purchased new in July 2004. Full documentation. Professionally installed Vortech Supercharger @ 50,000 miles; at sea level puts out over 500 HP. Dynatech longtube headers, custom exhaust, free flowing cats that meet the most stringent emissions testing. Diablo Predator tuner with PC connection to adjust the tune and log real-time data if you like.
Recent service included plugs, wires, coil packs, injectors, supercharger oil change, cone filter, full oil and filter, front upper and lower tie rod ends, 4-wheel alignment, new resonators, new high performance catalytic converters. The original high performance cats were installed at 12,000 miles; you can expect some 60,000 miles out of the replacements as I did. No trouble codes, passed emissions testing with flying colors (see scan of the report). Exterior is the original Inferno Red triple pearl coat and is in excellent condition, as the car has been garaged much of its life. There are some minor dings and scratches, most noticeably on the front air dam, which is only about 2" off the ground and subject to scraping. There are two very small creases on the passenger side rear quarter that were caused by rubbing against some plastic bins in my garage; I think these could be taken out without repainting (these are noted in the photos). The windshield has a small crack lower driver's side; I will replace it and have a full detail done on the exterior and interior prior to shipping/delivery to the lucky buyer. Interior, no rips, no tears, all in excellent shape. Non smoker, no kids, all in order and exceptional for a vehicle this age. Under the hood, full service history, all work done by either dealer or professional performance shops. The supercharger has a mild boost and could be increased if desired. This wagon is a true Mustang GT killer, with 0-60 times under five seconds if that is what you are after. Me, I simply like the idea of a ton of power ready to merge or pass with confidence. The stock MDS system - where four cylinders are deactivated at cruising speeds - yields 23 - 25 MPG. Included are a set of the stock silver headlight assemblies (the ones on the car are body color matched) and the original stock exhaust system (only 12K miles on it) including manifolds, catalytic converters, and mufflers; should you ever decide to remove the supercharger and bring the vehicle back to stock. I have all of the original documentation including the build sheet and window sticker. Will provide additional photos/information on request. |

What's the deal with Chrysler demanding colleges crush their Vipers? [w/video]
Fri, 07 Mar 2014Students and teachers at a Washington community college are up in arms following an order from Chrysler that it must destroy the pre-production Dodge Viper that was donated to the school's automotive technology program ten years ago.
The Viper in question is said to be the fourth off the production line, based on its VIN, and has had its emissions controls disabled, allowing its ten-cylinder engine to produce 600 horsepower, according to a report from Yahoo! Autos. As one of the first Vipers ever produced, the school's AT instructors claim it could be worth $250,000 in a museum, while a local news report purports that Jay Leno once tried to purchase the car, but the sale was prevented by Chrysler.
As pointed out by our friends at Autobytel, though, there are a lot of things in this story that don't quite add up. Immediately noticeable from the news report embedded below - which shows the car at South Puget Sound Community College - is that the car in question is not a 1992 model. When the Viper went on sale in 1992, it was only available as an RT/10 with a (flimsy) soft top, like the red car shown above. But the car featured in the report from KING5 News (inset image) is clearly a hardtop Viper GTS, which didn't enter production until 1996. And even if, as reported by a local newspaper, the hardtop featured is a prototype, it doesn't explain the lack of another iconic feature of the first Vipers - their distinctive side pipes. This kind of pokes holes in the school's argument that this is the fourth Viper to ever roll down the line. At best, this appears to be a pre-production Viper GTS.
Chrysler investing $20M in Toledo plant to support 9-speed auto production
Sun, 28 Apr 2013In 2011, Chrysler announced a $72-million investment in its Toledo Machining Plant to modernize production of the eight- and nine-speed torque-converters for automatic transmissions made there. That upgrade work won't be finished until Q3 of this year, but Chrysler has already announced a further $19.6-million investment to increase production capacity for the nine-speeders.
The extra units will be necessary because the nine-speed transmission they'll be mated to is going into three popular models: it will debut on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, then go into the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. The company predicted that this year alone it would sell 200,000 units equipped with the nine-speed tranny, and it is spending some $374 million in addition to the investment in Toledo to upgrade production capacity for it.
The work attached to this new investment won't begin until Q3 of 2014, and it will be finished by the end of that year. There's a press release below with all the details.
2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit prepares to keep Hellcats in line
Wed, 13 Aug 2014Earlier today, Dodge pulled the wraps off its 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat - a 707-horsepower sedan capable of sprinting to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 204 mph. Naturally, the car debuted in a bright shade of pull-me-over red, so it was fitting, then, that Dodge also brought its newly updated 2015 Charger Pursuit to keep everything under control.
No, cops won't be able to spec their Charger cruisers with the 707-hp Hellcat engine (oh man, imagine the chase scenes...), but law enforcement officials will be able to choose from either a 3.6-liter V6 or 5.7-liter Hemi V8, producing 292 hp and 370 hp, respectively. V8 models can be ordered with all-wheel drive, and Dodge estimates that with either engine, the Charger Pursuit can achieve up to 26 miles per gallon on the highway (thanks to the V8's four-cylinder mode).
Other updates for 2015 include improved braking power, a seven-inch display in the instrument cluster, a five-inch display in the center stack, and a new vehicle systems interface that could make it easier for police squads to install computer and radio equipment.
