I have a 2 tone Blue & Silver 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Laramie 4X4 4door short bed with a salvage title...My Baby got T-Boned on the passenger side and the only reason it was totaled is the parts need to be rust free and with Nationwide Ins. needs to be NWCPP certified (Nationwide Crash Parts Program) and they couldn't find any rust free doors here in PA, the 2 doors were over 3 Grand rite from Dodge, PASSENGER SIDE DOORS ARE JAMBED SHUT & WON"T OPEN WITHOUT SOME FORCE so I settled and bought it back, ck out the pics, Truck runs like a dream, treads straight, no bent frame, chassis, or bent rims... has slight rust undercarriage and rust on bottom of drivers and passenger door (smashed), I bought this Truck used from a dealer with 45,000 miles in 2002... it has been repaired 2 times before, the first I slide off the road in snow on a corner and slide into some trees off an embankment, that was the largest, they replaced the whole cab and passenger doors, I have Pics if yur interested, the 2nd a deer came off a field and rammed me on the left rear around fuel cap...Interior is average, no rips or tares, only couple cigar burns, carpet is still great, only drivers mat heal area, Tires are BF Goodrich all terrain T/A KO-LT 285/70R 17 with allow wheels, only have  29, 505 miles on them and plenty of meat left...Also will throw in 2 sets of carbide V snow chains....stock 6 speakers, Stereo does not stay and is an extra $200.00 if interested: Its a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X869 cd & radio receiver with 50 watts a side, Now this trucks MPG on this 5.9L is 10.5 - 12 on how you drive and it gets better MPG on Sunoco fuel, I just spent a grand on new Radiator, water pump, thermostat and stock muffler, all u-joints and 4 wheel drive joints and idler arms, lower a arm bushings have all been replaced, also just had tranny serviced and new overdrive switch...Have recpts for all, overall truck runs excellent and like I said drives like a dream, I hate to loose her...

Hero gets his truck back better than new thanks to community support [w/video]

Sun, 29 Jun 2014

You ever hear a story and start cringing before you hear the end because you know how it's going to turn out? That could very well have been the case with the story from a few weeks ago in West Valley City, Utah, where a 14-year-old kid stole his grandfather's Hyundai Veloster and took it for a joyride - through a park full of children. But instead it turned into a heart-warming tale of heroism and a community banding together to do what's right... and then some.
Bryson Rowley was that hero who identified the danger and, rather than sit idly by and watch the joyrider potentially run over a child, got into his truck and drove it into the menacing runaway hatchback. The collision caused some $7,500 to his 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, but instead of getting stuck with the bill - one which his insurance may very well have refused to pay since the crash was, technically speaking, intentional - his community pitched in a helping hand.
Bryan Ellison, who owns West Valley Carstar with his brother, saw the news on television and wanted to help. So he brought Rowley a rental car, picked up his truck and brought it back to his auto repair shop. People from around the community donated parts, and when all was said and done, some $15,000 of work and upgrades were performed on the Ram that was returned to an overwhelmed Bryson Rowley better than new. Watch the video below for the full story.

Dodge shows can-do attitude with grand Can'avan sculpture

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

There are lots of ways to celebrate an important birthday, and all of them are well deserved. You can throw a big party, buy yourself something nice, or - if you're the altruistic type - do something for others in need. The latter is how Chrysler has opted to mark the 30th anniversary of its Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country.
Together with hunger-advocacy organization Canstruction, the Chrysler Foundation has built a full-scale replica of the Grand Caravan out of 30,000 food cans in the square at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, a ways down the highway from where the real vans are built in Windsor. The sculpture was built over the course of 10 hours by 30 volunteers and was displayed earlier this week.
Now the installation is being taken down, and the cans of food are being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which will assemble them into 2,000 food baskets to be distributed to those in need through its network of 200 food banks across the Canadian metropolis. Check out a neat time-lapse video of the build and the press release below.

Why the Charger Hellcat can't be ordered with a manual transmission

Sun, 16 Nov 2014

Fans of truly irreverent amounts of horsepower will find lots to love in the form of the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat models. Both of them send 707 ridiculous horsepower to the rear wheels; the only question is whether you want your absurdity delivered with two or four doors. Oh, and whether or not you want the option of a manual transmission.
If you prefer rowing your own gears, the choice is made for you; there is no manual gearbox option available on the Charger Hellcat, or any Charger model at all, for that matter. Wonder why? Well, besides the fact that almost nobody - sorry, clutch fans, but it's true - would choose to buy a Charger with a manual transmission, that is? The answer, according to an industry insider in a post written on Jalopnik's Opposite Lock forum, is the floorpan.
It's probably not a surprise to most of our readers that the Dodge Challenger and Charger share a large portion of their chassis structure, which is codenamed LX at Chrysler, but there are still some significant differences under the skin due to the shorter wheelbase and two-door coupe bodyshell of the Challenger, as opposed to the sedan shape of the Charger. One of the differences is the floorpan, the huge chunk of sheetmetal that makes up the floor of the car and props up such essential items as the car's seats.
