Well if you looking for a great running truck to get you through the winter weather and need room for everyone, this is a good pick for you.  This truck just had a new transmission just a few thousand miles ago!  We have checked this truck out and find it is ready for sale after its been in our shop.  So I will tell you all I know and your welcome to ask any questions you like, by email.  Our office is at 2577 hwy 23 south, Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577.  Our number is 641-673-5750.  We have sold over 550 trucks on ebay and hope you make you our next happy customer.

First the engine runs great, has plenty of power, no noises and gets up and goes without a problem, just a great running 360, 5.9 v8.

Transmission shifts great in all the gears and we have the paper work to show the job was just done.  Cost about $2500 too.

A new timing cover was put on as the receipt shows.

Mechanically all seems to work fine.

Transfer case is good and shifts in and out of 4x4 high and low just fine.

Axles and joints all seem good  and no problems.

Suspension is good and shocks and springs all seem normal.  No problems.

Brakes are good and work fine, pads still have plenty of life, four wheel disc brakes too.

Tires are good and have good tread.

No check engine or service lights stay on.

New radio, reciept in the glove box, about $250 for it.

New back up camera, there but not presently hooked up to power, still have the box it came in.

Seats are good, driver front has a little wear, seat covers are new, were on it when we got the truck.

Electronics all work good, climate controls, wipers, locks, cruise, etc.  Switch for the passenger front door window on the master switch cluster acts up sometimes, but goes down and up ok.

Body is in good shape for the year, a few small dents on the bed, but otherwise paint is glossy and pictures show all.  Spare tire is in good shape and hardware is all there.

Has the tow package, all in good shape.

Lights all work and ready to run anywhere.  Drive this truck home and start working with in right away.

Again, thanks for bidding on our truck and hope you can use a good work horse, plenty of life left in it with a great motor and transmission.  Have a great day.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Has Dodge stepped in it again with Scat Pack lawsuit?

Mon, 20 Oct 2014

Lawsuits are an unfortunate part of doing business in just about any industry, so the latest complaint filed by a California-based aftermarket firm against Chrysler would seem to be nothing more than business as usual. But this isn't the first time the two companies have sparred over this particular issue.
According to a report from Automotive News, the dispute revolves around the Scat Pack name that Chrysler first offered on the Charger, Coronet, Dart and Super Bee starting in 1968. Scat Enterprises, a manufacturer of crankshafts and other components for Dodges and other vehicles, sued Chrysler for using its name. A few years later the Scat Pack disappeared from the Dodge catalog.
Fast forward to August 2013 when Chrysler applied to register the Scat Pack name anew. The US Patent and Trademark Office turned down Chrysler's application, but the automaker proceeded anyway, unveiling new Scat Packs for the Challenger, Charger and Dart at last year's SEMA show.
