Up for auction is a 1989 Dodge Ram D250 4X4 Plow Truck. It is a regular cab, 8 foot box. I believe it has the original 360 V8 with an automatic transmission. The emblems on the fenders say it's a power ram. Heavy duty 3/4 ton suspension with a western snow plow. The odometer reads 56694 but it is in excess of it's mechanical limits, meaning it's probably 156,000 miles. The truck runs great and shifts fine and the heater works great. The steering has a little play but the steering box is only 2 years old. The brakes have less than 500 miles on them and the tires are decent. The cab floor seams very solid and the interior is clean. All the glass is good and the windows go up and down like they should. The paint is very tired and there is rust in both rockers and 3 of the 4 wheel wells but the bed seams solid. This truck is being sold as is, no warranty. It's a good solid snow plow truck and is functional as it is. Dodge to reveal Hellcat-powered Challenger in Detroit?
Fri, 10 Jan 2014On top of all the other performance car debuts slated for next week's Detroit Auto Show, we might be able to add one more to the list - the new, supercharged Hellcat V8 from Chrysler. According to new reports, the rumored 640-horsepower mill is likely to cross the Motor City stage in the engine bay of a Dodge Challenger.
As AllPar points out, though, there may be more news than just the fire-breathing engine. While we've seen spy photos of the Hellcat testing under the hood of the current Challenger, there's a very fair chance that it won't arrive until the muscle car is refreshed later this year. The question now is whether that refresh will be shown off alongside the new engine in Detroit, or if it'll be saved, perhaps for the New York Auto Show.
Other details dug up by AllPar include potential transmissions for the supercharged engine - the Mopar-minded site is expecting an eight-speed automatic or a Tremec six-speed manual. Prices, meanwhile, could be in the same elevated range as the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, at $70,000 to $80,000.
Roadkill pits every project car against each other
Sat, 22 Feb 2014The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
