2004.5 Ram 3500 single rear wheel, SLT Laramie 4x4, 73K miles, 325hp HO 5.9L Cummins Quad cab, AC, cruise, fog lights, black leather / dark grey inserts interior with heated power seats, Infinity Sound system (cassette and CD and top end stereo). All power options (windows, doors, etc). Chrome trim package. This was top of line with nearly every option they offered that year.

This year was the first of the new common rail injection 600 engine (they call this the 2004.5 because the upgrade was mid year), high out and significant step from prior years in HP and torque. These trucks also have disk brakes front AND rear (In 2002 they upgraded rear brakes from drum to disk).

Everything works well. Well cared for. Conventional diesel Rotella 15W-40 in engine. Royal purple fluids in everything else; transmission, both differentials and transfer case. I babied this and prior owner was diesel mechanic and he did the same. Some rust bubbling at bottom of tailgate, and a few small chips.

Aftermarket upgrades include; The weak spot on these trucks was the automatic transmission . Truck is upgraded with ATS stage 4 transmission ($6500 for parts alone and add another $1K for install). It will be the last transmission it will every need. ATS Co-pilot to manage shifts and OD lockup, Bully Dog tuner offers 4 stages of electronic engine management from economy to heavy/aggressive towing (setup for mild tow currently and I tow my car trailer like there's nothing behind me),full performance exhaust (full 5" from turbo/exhaust manifold back) with 6" Silverton stainless exhaust tip, AFE performance air intake with oiled cloth filter, chromed side steps , Tough Country 6 inch suspension lift, Pro Comp 35x12.5x17 tires (~50% left) mounted on original chrome rims, also have mounted original Michelins LT265x75x17 (these are nearly new treads) on original chrome rims in my garage. I have all original suspension parts to bring this back to stock height (with new MOOG bushings). I intended to remove the lift but never got to this. There may be other things I cannot remember.

Fully equipped for trailer hauling with electronic trailer brake control and two hitches. Original hitch AND new Curt hitch that permits pulling up to 15,000lbs without weight distribution devices. I don't like adding the extra weight distribution things. I just hook up, test lights and brakes, and go. I only tow my classic car in a trailer to car shows a couple of times a year.

Fiberglass ARE cap (blue but not exact color match) with sliding front window (to match slide opening cab back window) and opening back windows, and with roof rack on top. Plastic bedliner.

2014 Dodge Durango priced from $29,795*

Wed, 14 Aug 2013

With all the new updates the Dodge Durango is getting for 2014, one thing that Dodge isn't changing on its big SUV is the starting price. Just like the current model year, the 2014 Dodge Durango will be priced from $29,795 (*not including $995 for destination).
This price is for the base SXT model, but the 2014 Durango is also offered in a new Limited trim level (replacing the Crew) as well as the sporty R/T and the luxurious Citadel. The Durango Limited starts at $35,995 (an increase of $800 over the 2013 Crew), while the R/T now starts at $38,995 (up $2,500). The top-of-the-line Durango Citadel will start at $40,995 - an increase of $1,000.
The many improvements made to the 2014 Durango include revised exterior styling, added in-cabin tech and an eight-speed automatic transmission (expected to return better fuel economy). Dodge is saying that the V6 models will get 25 miles per gallon on the highway while V8 models are expected to score 23-mpg highway, but there are no official EPA numbers to report yet. Scroll down for the full press release.

Dodge, Hyundai crowdsourced-funding sites deemed successes

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

What's not to love about crowdsourcing? This idea, after all, has given us Kickstarter as well Local Motors, but automakers are starting to use the social platform to sell more cars (or just drum up a little PR). Both Dodge and Hyundai have used "crowd-funding" recently, and while Automotive News is reporting that neither has racked up big sales with this gimmick, both automakers are pleased with the attention.
For Hyundai, it teamed up with website Motozuma.com to help customers crowdsource money for a down payment, and the automaker matched this amount up to $500. Last year, this helped Hyundai sell an extra 1,600 units, a fraction of its total 2012 sales. That figure is far larger than Dodge fared with the Dodge Dart Registry - it netted only two sales and a small number of individual options. This registry did help University of Southern California fraternity crowdsource $18,000 to buy a Dart for a local Meals on Wheels, however. Despite the low sales figures, Dodge and Hyundai are considering their crowdsourcing programs a success since it helped them connect with younger buyers.

Chrysler killing off the 200 Convertible, Dodge Avenger

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

When Chrysler rolled out the first-generation 200 to replace the Sebring range in 2010, it included replacements for both the sedan and the convertible. The Sebring Coupe, however, was left out of the mix. And now that the second-generation Chrysler 200 is descending upon us, Auburn Hills is paring things down even further. But this time, it's the convertible that reportedly isn't making the cut. Shame, too, since the rendering above shows what could have been quite an attractive droptop.
As our compatriots at Edmunds point out, sales of the convertible model accounted for less than five percent of overall Chrysler 200 sales, and at those numbers, the considerable cost of engineering a new drop-top couldn't be justified. With the Toyota Camry Solara and Volkswagen Eos also gone from the market (well, the VW isn't gone quite yet), the discontinuation of the Chrysler 200 Convertible leaves the affordable convertible segment largely to the sportier likes of the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro and smaller European offerings like the Mini Cooper and VW Beetle.
The Chrysler 200 Convertible isn't the only derivative being left behind with the new model: so too is the Dodge Avenger. That will leave a glaring hole in the Dodge lineup, with nothing to bridge the gap between the compact Dart and the larger Charger. Whether the Dodge brand has any plans to replace the Avenger with another model, not to be based on the 200, remains to be seen.
