* Fully loaded with all the options including power sliding sunroof and leather interior, eye-catching Indy Red clear coat paint, manual 6 speed 200 hp V6 . I special ordered this car from the local SC Dodge dealership and three months later it was delivered. Always stored indoors and pampered . The interior still has that leather smell to it. Never smoked in. Adult owned and not abused by any means.Never any collision damage the bright red paint shines like new , minimal interior wear . Everything works and works well ; a/c , clutch, electric windows, Infinity radio with 7 loudspeakers , electric sliding sunroof, etc * Meticulously maintained with no major mechanical work done . The car had always been very reliable with only work done being the replacement of one oxygen sensor and replacing leaky valve cover gaskets. Oil and filter changed every 3000 miles . All new belts,hoses, battery, brakes as recommended. I wouldn't hesitate to get in it and drive cross country. Under the hood is super clean. * My son has played travel hockey the last 10 years so almost all the miles are highway miles up and down the East coast and in to Canada. The interior and body of the car give the impression of a 20,000 mile car. Even has the original floor mats in the car , the spare tire has never touched the ground . Leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter still look and smell new. The backseat has barely been sat in. * As a car collector and enthusiast I have always taken pride in ownership of this car. I kept all the paperwork assocated with the car , including the original Windowsticker, VON vehicle order paperwork, paper tags etc. All the original keys and key FOBs . Includes a complete set of factory service manuals. I even kept the original oil filter that was installed on with the car when it was new. I did all the oil changes on the car myself from day one. * Shortly after I purchased the car I started ordering new parts for it from the local Dodge Dealer . Interior and trim items that I knew would be discontinued from the factory 10 years later.Rare items today and still in their original boxes I have : - full leather seat upholstery assemblies seat bottoms and seat tops , right and left. These would re new the front seats to "as the day it was made" condition. - front bucket seat backs right and left. door opening sill scuff plates . interior floor mats, misc interior small trim - trunk floor formed black liner and netting - front end bra All totaled maybe $3000.00 to $4000.00 worth of new old stock OEM Mopar parts especially for this car. 2014 Dodge Durango
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Say what you want about the Dodge Durango, but ever since it came on the scene in 1998, it has occupied its own niche in the SUV market - not too small, not too big, tough, able, not always the best on the road and not always the best off-road. If it were a football player, it would be a tight-end that can block and catch. If it were a hamburger - a double burger with cheese and bacon, but not the Whopper.
As part of a mid-cycle upgrade for what was already a very capable SUV that Chrysler introduced in 2011, and built on the same platform as the Mercedes GL-Class and Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 2014 Durango has gotten some refinements worth noting that have cleaned up its tailoring and toned up its body and powerplant. The result is an SUV that shows itself to be a very good value in a category full of sticker prices that can run away faster than a kid who's been told he has to take ballroom dancing lessons.
Chrysler executives showing us the new Durango made a special point to reiterate that the Dodge brand is not going away, as has been rumored after the company took the Ram and Viper - the cream of the brand - out from under the Dodge umbrella. Turns out Dodge has been the brand attracting the most young people (who knew?) and has a younger average age buyer than Honda. The Dodge brand historically has also attracted buyers who aren't exactly Phi-Beta Cappa, which some companies worry about. Chrysler not so much. Dodge buyers tend to be more the working, high-school-educated, community-college-educated backbone of the work force in America. If they keep coming to Dodge, the Durango is a pretty good piece of hardware to save up for.
Chrysler recalling 700k minivans and Dodge Journey for ignition switch woes
Tue, 01 Jul 2014General Motors isn't the only automaker with ignition switch problems. Chrysler is fighting it too and is now announcing a recall of 695,957 examples worldwide of the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2008-2010 model years, plus the 2009-2010 Dodge Journey.
According to a statement from Chrysler, the models have a bad wireless ignition node detent ring in the ignition switch, making it possible for drivers to appear to have the key in the "Run" position but for the spring not to fully engage. It can then slip back to the "Accessory" position and shut the car off. If this happens, the vehicle loses power steering, brake boost and the airbags.
There is some disparity about the number of vehicles affected under this recall. In its statement, Chrysler claims that it covers 525,206 vehicles in the US, 102,892 in Canada, 25,591 in Mexico and 42,268 elsewhere. However, the recall announcement posted by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists an estimated 438,109 vehicles in the US. Chrysler spokesperson Nick Cappa told Autoblog via email that the reasoning for the different figures "will become clear at a later date."
Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.
