This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION

I purchased this great 308 last summer with the plan to keep it only one year to satisfy my Magnum PI dream. The year is up and despite the protests of my kids, I am selling the car as originally planned.  We have been really happy with our purchase and have enjoyed the ride.

This particular car was purchased by me because it is a "driver car" and was being sold close to home.

When I bought it in Summer 2013 it had just had major service done to belts and hoses, etc. which was a key reason I bought it.   I have receipts to verify the completed work.  There are only 3000 miles on the car since the service was completed.

Since I have owned it I have also replaced the horn compressor ($500), the steering rack ($2000), and have a "new" antenna motor ($400) that is uninstalled currently because the antenna switch is no longer working. I'm told with a new switch the antenna will be up and running.  I have not sought a new switch because I am selling the car.

EXTERIOR
Paint is excellent.  The car was stripped down to the metal and repainted - possibly 15 years ago but the paint remains in very excellent shape.  It's one of the strongest features on the car.
Metal - two very small, discreet and shallow pings on the top of the right fender.  Almost look like light hail but paintless dent repair would handle easily. Very hard to see however w/o being at the right angle and lighting.
Bumpers - likely original and in fantastic shape - no blemishes.
Glass - two small chips on windshield but no cracking/spidering and no need to take any action on the windshield.
Removable top in excellent shape - only item to note is minor water marks to the interior/material and cleanable. Exterior is shiny and perfect.
Tires - older Michelins but tread is good and there's some good life left in them.
Wheels - original likely and in good but not perfect shape. Some rubs on them.

INTERIOR
Carpet very good.  Original floor mats.
Doors trim is good.
Dashboard is excellent.
Rearview mirror not attached - every time I got in car I hit my head on it so I have it off now.
Center console is worn with some very small rips in the leather that wraps it.  All knobs work with the exception of the antenna switch as mentioned above.
Passenger seat - leather shows age and is giving way to some of the tan hide color.  Not rips or tears or heavy wear to seams etc.
Driver seat - this is in not as good shape. The entry side to the seat is showing some issues on the seam on the back portion and the lower portion bead is in poor shape - see picture. This seat needs repaired or replaced depending on  your plans for the car. I've had seat covers on them since I owned the car.  Just was my preference so they wouldn't take any additional wear to them.

We have original handbook, tool set in bag, and Ferrari keychain.

MECHANICALS
Wipers, radio, AC, windows all work.
Driver window slower than passenger window
Headlights pop up and work well
Horn works with new compressor
Turn signals and brake lights good.
Motor starts reliably and runs well - idles beautifully.
Exhaust still good but old.
Brakes are good.
Oil change 300 miles ago
Clutch is good.

RECENT INSPECTION at reputable local Ferrari repairer (Layland Motors, Canton Ohio) shows need to replace front shock bushings and notes that brake lines are intact but are original and who knows how much longer they will last.
This inspection also noted slight leak to valve.  I have not noted any leaks from oil or any fluids anywhere.

The inspector noted that this is a very solid "driver" car and that if he were being picky and owned it he would likely put $3-4k into it to get it where he would want it.

There is a rattling that occurs when car starts particularly - the inspector notes that it's likely a heat shield vibrating agains exhaust.  I note that as the car warms up the rattling becomes much less often.  No impact on drive-ability of car.

There are no other known issues with this car.  It has been a blast to drive and it gets a lot of attention - including people who want to take a pic with it etc.

This car drives solid and looks really, really good.  Starts every time and idles like a champ.

I want you to be very confident about this car so please ask questions and I will do my best to answer.

This car is being sold AS-IS naturally.

I require a $500 Paypal refundable deposit for winning bidder and balance due by cashier's check within 7 days unless Seller and Buyer make other arrangements.

If you want to inspect first I would welcome that.

I will not be the shipper but I will gladly work with you as you arrange shipping.

I have perfect feedback and I want to keep it that way so please ask your questions and I will do my best to give the most accurate answer.

Thanks!!

I had a question today about the underside of the car.  I haven't spent any real time underneath but it looks like it's 35 years old but no structural issues etc.  The muffler is not new so it has surface rust on it. It still works fine now.

You can apply to attempt to break the world record for fastest blindfolded driver [w/video]

Sat, 07 Jun 2014

The Guinness-certified world record for "fastest speed for a car driven blindfolded" is 186.12 miles per hour, set by Mike Newman in a Porsche GT2 last year at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in England. Then earlier this year, Newman said he'd go for the 200 mph mark - something he might want to talk to fellow Bruntingthorpe speed demons Vmax200 about. UK firm Extreme Motorsport, which seems to have been set up solely to set blindfold driving and riding records, wants to wrest the record from Newman using a Ferrari 458 Challenge and the even longer runway at Elvington Airfield in York, England.
Strangely, it appears the terms "legally blind" and "blindfolded" equate to the same thing. The Guinness record and Extreme Sports say "blindfolded," but Newman and the man who held the record before him, Turkish pop singer Metin Sentürk, are legally blind and neither of them wore blindfolds during their record attempts.
No matter - the real point is that Extreme Motorsport is casting about for a driver to set a new record. The could-be-shady part is that Extreme is pretty vague about what's involved; they'll provide the car or the motorcycle, but you have to "choose a charity and pledge to give them all the funds you raise above the entrance fee and for any other personal expenses you may need to participate in the challenge." Extreme doesn't give any indication of how much that entrance fee might be.

Twin LaFerraris roar around Fiorano

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

What could possibly be better than a Ferrari LaFerrari running at full clip on the Italian brand's Fiorano test track? The answer is obviously two LaFerraris, both doing hot laps. So far as we know, this is the first time we've had an unadulterated listen - outside of the car, that is - to the latest Ferrari hypercar when it's being ran hard. There's no voiceover or music, just that righteous, hybridized V12.
We're told that the first LaFerrari, without camo, is a production model, while the other car is said to be testing a different exhaust setup. It sounds slightly different, and according to the videographer, it was noticeably louder than the production car. Take a look below for the full 2:48 of Italian V12 noise.

Ferrari looks to cut 20% total C02 emissions over 7 years

Tue, 24 Jun 2014

In the late 1970s, performance cars suffered a huge blow when the necessity for better economy and lower emissions crippled their power. It took nearly a decade for the horsepower to return. Today, we're in the middle of another push for greater vehicle efficiency, but don't expect another era of malaise this time. Instead, lightweight materials, turbos and hybrids mean that everyone can be happy. However, the pressure to clean up isn't just for the mass market, supercars must improve too, but Ferrari at least seems to be taking on the challenge in stride.
Ferrari Powertrain Director Vittorio Dini recently told Automotive News Europe that the Prancing Horse will improve its current average C02 emissions of 270 grams per kilometer by 20 percent by 2021, to reach about 216 grams of C02 per kilometer. To achieve these lofty ambitions, the company will exploit a relatively simple path. "In the future, all of our V8s will use turbos," said Dini said to ANE. Also, its V12s will use hybridization because it'll be a better choice for them compared to the heat of multiple turbos, he claimed.
The first steps of this strategy are already in front of us. The new California T ditches its naturally aspirated V8 in favor of a smaller displacement, more powerful turbocharged unit, and the LaFerrari is already using the hybrid V12. Dini's quote certainly lends some credence to the rumor that the 2015 refresh for the 458 Italia may use an even more powerful version of the California's turbo V8. With a new Ferrari model planned for each year between now and 2018, the Prancing Horse seems unperturbed by any threats posed by emissions.
