For sale is a 2002 Ferrari 360 Spider with the F1 Transmission. Carfax history is available upon request but shows no accidents or insurance claims of any kind. This 360 spent most of its life in California and exported to Canada in 2010. I purchased the car in Canada and legally exported it back to the US. Winning bidder will receive scanned copies of the stamped import paperwork as well as a clear US title BEFORE any money exchanges hands. This car is a "driven" Ferrari and not a garage queen, so all the problems and kinks have been worked out. The most recent service was conducted at a Ferrari dealership was done approximately 1 year/ 2,000 miles ago in which all recommended service items were completed. Please check back within a few days for a more comprehensive service list. The only item awaiting service is a Pipe hose from minimum pump to the AC system is ordered and awaiting installation. The sale of the car includes the part but not the installation. But otherwise, absolutely everything works on the car. Cosmetically I believe this 360 to accurately represent a car with the same age and vintage. I have not been able to find any flaws in the paint aside from some very very light scratches where the canvas convertible top meets the metal. These are so light as to not even show up in pictures. No curb rash on any of the wheels. There are minor scratches on the driver's door latch that probably brought on by a driver with long fingernails scratching the plastic over time. The defrost vents have some warping in them from sun/heat exposure and would recommend they be changed by the new owner. I do have an appointment to have the leather professionally cleaned and once this has been done, I'll post the "after" pics on this listing. The car is located in metro-Buffalo, NY. Whenever considering a purchase of a car such as this, I would recommend flying out ahead of time for an inspection and test drive. I can provide airport transportation from either Buffalo, NY (BUF) or Toronto, ON (YYZ). In addition, I do have the capability to deliver the car on open trailer at $1.50 per loaded mile (location zip is 14222), but please contact me first for an exact quote. Winning bidder would need to secure insurance in advance of the trip for me to deliver it as my current insurance does not allow for "auto service" such as delivery. Notes on Payment: A $3,000 non refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of the end of the listing. Payment in full (via bank to bank wire transfer) is due within 7 days of the end of the listing. ...... If I am delivering the Ferrari, as long as I receive the deposit plus delivery charges in advance, I'll agree to deliver with the balance due upon arriving at the agreed upon destination. All pics below were taken within a week of this listing being published.

Race Recap: 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix is racing like you dream about

Sun, 06 Apr 2014

Well. What a race.
The first line of last year's Bahrain Grand Prix recap was, "The sand, the wind, the penalties, the contact and the one crash - all of them collided to make the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix a surprise affair from day to day and lap to lap." This year the sand stayed mostly off the track and the wind limited its gusts to the back side around Turn 11, but everything else carried over into this 2014 F1 season.
There were penalties issued, penalties given, contact from the first lap and an astonishing crash that made the race even more exciting than it already was. Or rather, two races, because the Mercedes AMG Petronas cars are so good - and both their drivers are so good - that every pilot is still racing for third unless one of The Silver Arrows trips up. But even the race for third was riveting. As well as that for fourth, fifth, sixth, and every position back to about eleventh, all through the race. At times it seemed like the producers were so unused to having to follow actual on-track passing that they weren't sure which camera to switch to; there was so much action for all 57 laps, sometimes two or three passing moves on the same lap to go along with the close racing throughout, that we saw more passes in replays than live.

Apple CarPlay drawing early safety concerns [w/video]

Sun, 09 Mar 2014

Apple's CarPlay infotainment system hasn't made it into a single vehicle yet, and it's already drawing criticism for distracting drivers among safety advocates. The new tech unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show pairs users' iPhones with the car's dashboard display to make calls, dictate messages and listen to music. Some automakers, like Volvo, also let users interact with the HVAC system from the screen.
"The idea that people want to be on their phones, and therefore let's give them a way to do that -- that's not putting safety first, that's putting convenience and the desire to be in touch first," said Bruce Hamilton, manager of research and communications at the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, to CNN Money.
Distracted driving is a huge concern on modern roads with more vehicles allowing drivers to use their smartphones through Bluetooth and infotainment systems. A Texas A&M study found that drivers' reaction time doubled while dictating text messages, according to CNN Money. The new tech is certainly not making drivers pay more attention.

LaFerrari Spider among Maranello's future product plans

Thu, 19 Jun 2014

Niche though its products may be, Ferrari typically rolls out a new model every year. 2009, for example, saw the introduction of the California. In 2010 came the 458 Italia, followed by the 458 Spider in 2011. In 2012 we greeted the FF, and in 2013 both the F12 Berlinetta and 458 Speciale. This year the hyper-exotic LaFerrari was joined by the California T, and you can bet that Maranello will keep up that pace by rolling out new versions of and replacements for each of these models in succession.
Among the plans which Car and Driver reports Ferrari has afoot will be an open-top LaFerrari Spider - something which the Prancing Horse marque hasn't done at the top of its range since the F50, which came exclusively with a removable hardtop. The 6.3-liter hybrid V12 will likely carry over unchanged, as will most of the other parameters, but for the joy of experiencing 1,000 horsepower with the wind in your hair - and the exclusivity of being one of the just 50 owners - we're told to expect a price tag roughly double that of the existing $1.35 million coupe.
Of course, Ferrari has more plans than simply chopping the roof off its hybrid hypercar. In Geneva next March, the House that Enzo Built is tipped to introduce a Modificato version of the 458 with a twin-turbo V8 producing around 670 horsepower - over one hundred horses more than in the new California T. A refresh for the all-wheel-drive FF is also said to be underway for 2016, when it will receive a less awkward roofline and the possible addition of a V8 base version alongside the V12 that will remain naturally aspirated. As it will in the updated F12 due the following year.
