SUPER RARE FERRARI 456 V12 WITH MANUAL SIX SPEED GEARBOX! WHAT'S A FRONT-ENGINED V12 SIX SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAR WORTH COMPARED TO AN AUTOMATIC / PADDLE SHIFT CAR? WELL ACCORDING TO THE MARKET THIS PAST WEEK....A LOT! A 599 WITH A SIX SPEED MANUAL (yes it is slower 0-60) JUST SOLD FOR FOUR TIMES THE VALUE OF REGULAR 599!!! $680,000! (SEE PHOTO BELOW) Ferrari does not make a manual transmission car anymore and has not made a manual transmission V12 car for years now. While the 550 has a manual....they all have manual gearboxes so a 550 with stick is not rare. On the other hand most 456 Ferraris are automatic. The market on rare stick shift front engined V12 Ferrari is only going to go up. The 456 is a front engine, rear transaxle, Daytona-inspired supercar and an important car in the history of Ferrari. (It even has Daytona hood scoops and a rear end that is reminiscent of the legendary Daytona.) This may be the prettiest 456 out there as it features arguably the best color combination. Everyone who sees the car, passersby, other motorists, etc., comments on how beautiful the color is. Monaco blue over a royal / navy blue interior (Blu 4307, I believe). Even the headliner in this car is leather! As are the door panels, front and rear seats, dash, etc. This was Ferraris top of the line / most expensive car and it shows. This is a very rare manual six speed transmission Ferrari 456. It's believed just 317 manual transmission 456 Ferraris were imported to the United States. Compared to today's mass produced Ferraris, the 456 was produced in very limited numbers and hand built. Ferrari no longer offers a front engined V12 with a classic manual shifting shift gate. The 456/550 were the last models made by Ferrari that offered a stick in any real numbers and collectors agree these cars will be and are presently appreciating in value. This Ferrari was specially ordered with an extremely rare and beautiful Monaco metallic blue exterior and a matching blue interior. This Ferrari looks like a show car and is absolutely stunning. Ferrari experts and journalists compare the 456 to the classic Daytona, both in performance and styling proportions. The 456 with its classic Ferrari shift gate is actually faster than the Daytona, it also rides comfortably and was made for high speed cruising. Yet when you get in the car it magically shrinks around you and feels like luxurious sports car, even more so than the 550. (The 456 is only a tad longer than the 550 yet has usable backseats and a good sized trunk. I believe the slightly shorter nose of the 456 makes it an easier car to maneuver.) The 456 is considered a work of art while the car that came after it, the 612, is regarded as dis-proportioned. This Ferrari just underwent a major service approximately (less than) 300 miles ago. It received new timing belts, cam seals, fuel filter, air filters, oil change, spark plugs, thermostat, catalyst ECU and a rebuilt water pump. The new owner should now have years of driving pleasure ahead! In addition, new tires have been fitted to the OEM Ferrari wheels. Also included is a set of $6,500 high performance and super lightweight 19" HRE 3-piece wheels with Pirelli tires. The seats were just treated with Maguire's leather conditioner. The nose of the car is protected by the so an "invisible bra", the clear paint protection film.

Ferrari teases more specs on its Enzo successor

Mon, 24 Dec 2012

On its web site, Ferrari has divulged a little more info about the supercar that will succeed the Ferrari Enzo. The Ferrari magazine reported that everything the Scuderia has learned in Formula One has gone into its soon-to-be-revealed animal, and this latest disclosure shows just how much that's true. We don't know its length or width, but Ferrari says one of the targets for the car was "a reduction in height and wheelbase to match that of the 458 Italia."
Rory Byrne, the Ferrari F1 designer that's been involved in 11 world championships for the team, has spent three years contributing to chassis development. That chassis will be laid up by hand in the company's F1 composites department, each chassis composed of different kinds of carbon fiber and cured in an autoclave, F1 monocoque-style. That's part of where the lighter weight and vastly heightened torsional and beam rigidity versus the Enzo comes from. Just behind the tub - and behind the driver's back - will be the batteries and fuel tank, again, just as on an F1 car.
The cockpit will be personalized to the driver in a way that is rare among road cars, with each seat made-to-measure for the driver and then set in a fixed position in the cabin. The steering wheel and pedal box will move to accommodate pilots. What's more, we're told that "the occupant's feet are at the same level as the driving position." That, and the angle of the seatback, will provide "an extraordinarily racy feeling."

Ferrari makes its return to Need For Speed: Rivals in a big way

Thu, 14 Nov 2013

With all the excitement over Forza Motorsport 5 and Gran Turismo 6, it's easy to forget that there's another racing game from an even older franchise coming out. The latest Need For Speed installment, Rivals, is set to hit stores November 15 (this Friday) for the Playstation 4, November 19 for PS3 and XBox 360, and November 22 for the XBox One. As part of the run up to the launch, we have a great look at all the new Ferrari content for the new title, which marks only the second time the Italian marque has been in an NFS game.
The last time we saw a prancing horse in Need For Speed was 2009's Shift, when we got ten models as part of a paid, downloadable pack. In anticipation of Ferrari's return to the series, we've got a gallery of images of some of the featured models, like the F12 Berlinetta (which we've shown you before), the FF, the Enzo, the 599 GTO and both the 458 Italia and Spider. All of which are bound to make for phenomenal tools for escaping the virtual cops.
We'll have a more extensive look at Need For Speed: Rivals in the near future, but until then, have a look at the game's Ferrari content up top.

Ferrari 250 GTO could fetch as much as $75 million at auction

Wed, 13 Aug 2014

Last month we reported on a Ferrari 250 GTO heading for the auction block at Pebble Beach. We knew at the time it would break records and bring in tens of millions of dollars. But now that the gavel is about to drop, it looks like even our projections could fall short.
According to a report on Bloomberg, citing the classic car authorities at Hagerty Insurance, the GTO in question (pictured above) could fetch upwards of $60 million and as much as $75 million when the auction takes place two days from now in Monterey, CA.
Hagerty's reported estimate would not only blow the previous records out of the water, but would eclipse the pre-sale estimate attributed to Bonhams, the auction house handling its sale, which placed its value between $30 million and $40 million.
