Up for Sale (in the USA) is a rare 1964 Fiat 500 D Suicide doors. This Fiat 500 was imported into the USA in 2005 from Siracusa, Sicily Italy. One of the best remaining Fiat 500 D Suicide doors, if not the only one in the continental United States. Purchased from Sicily, Italy in 2004 this car was imported into the US in December 2005. This rare classic stood up the test of time very well and was completely restored from the bottom up in Italy. The body and engine was restored in 2005, stripped and treated for rust, painted and look fantastic with a Ferrari yellow and red Fiat Abarth logo (Scorpio) and the engine was once again rebuilt in 2011 by Abacus Racing. It was manufactured in 1964 which means it is tax and emission exempt. This is truly a fine example and as far as I know there are only a few 500 D version left in the world and the only one like it in the United States. Everything on this Fiat was replaced with brand-new parts when the car was re-assembled. This vehicle has no history of rust or other bodily damage. All work was completed in Sicily by a professional body shop that knows these vehicles very well. This Fiat 500 is a US-registered car and has a clean and clear Texas vehicle title. Characteristics of 1964 FIAT 500D Purchased from: Siracusa, Sicily Italy Year: 1964 Make: Fiat Model: 500 D Body Type: 2-door sedan (Rare Suicide Door) Color: Yellow/Red Convertible: Yes - the sunroof can be removed or the entire top from the windshield to the engine bay can be removed for those beautiful spring days. This engine sports Abarth aluminum oil sump, and a NANI aluminum valve cover. The engine starts right up and idles very well. The sport-tuned exhaust produces a subtle rumble that makes this small engine sound powerful. The fuel system was flushed and a new fuel filter installed, a new cap and rotor were installed, ignition points adjusted, and the ignition timing reset. The gas tank was replaced with a new tank when the car was redone. The hydraulic and mechanical braking systems were entirely redone and work very well. All mechanical control cables have been replaced. There are no known issues with the vehicle at this time. The 500 – properly known as the 500 Nuova, was the second car to carry that name, the first 500 Topolino, or little mouse was produced from 1937 until the mid 50's and was the smallest car in the world at that time. The 500 is nicknamed Bambino, or baby - though some people refer to both cars as Topolino. The new version of the 500 currently being produced will be known as the Nuova 500! Top Gear magazine named the Fiat 500 as the sexiest car in the world, ever. 90's indie band Lush released a single in 1996 called 500 which was a love song to the car. The 500 refers to the engine size - 479cc in the earliest models, which produced 13hp. The sports version manages 21hp from a bored out version of the same engine. The Fiat 500 was the car originally chosen to feature in The Italian Job, but some new car called a Mini got the part at the last minute. Classic Fiat 500 D

Fiat 500 Abarth made from models in body paint [w/video]
Thu, 11 Jul 2013Fiat has taken an interesting approach to its advertising for ESPN The Magazine's annual Body Issue. Rather than just hiring an athlete to stand next to a car or sit in a car, it's actually built a car out of athletes. (And not unlike some naked-lady-motorcycles we've seen before.)
Using body artist Craig Tracy and more than a dozen very talented, very muscular, and very flexible models, Fiat has developed an interesting ad that is, according to the head of Fiat Brand North America, Jason Stoicevich, "as visually unique as the Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio." We can't really argue with that statement, as we've never seen an ad quite like this before.
If you aren't interested in picking up a copy of ESPN The Magazine, then at least take a look at this (slightly NSFW) video, which shows the effort that went into the ad and the degree of talent from the models. We've also posted the actual ad in the gallery, so you can get a closer look at what's at your local newsstand. Check out the video down below.
CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over
Mon, 03 Sep 2012
After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
Fiat opens doors at Abarth factory on Google Street View
Thu, 16 Oct 2014Google Street View has emerged as a great tool for checking out locations along your driving route, and even scoping out places you don't have a chance to go yourself. And that includes some great automotive installations. The online tool has taken us inside museums, race tracks and factories around the world, but while it has not to date allowed us virtual access to a European automotive factory, Fiat is out to correct that wrong by letting the Street View team inside Officine Abarth.
The new Abarth Virtual Tour allows online visitors to see the complex in Turin where it makes its hot hatches, including the lifts where the mechanics go to work, the paint spray booth, and a variety of technical workshops, as well as a display of historic Abarth models, a 360-degree view inside and out of the extreme Abarth 695 Biposto and even inside a reproduction of founder Karl Abarth's office. Scope it out for a visit inside Italy's premiere hot hatch studio.
