As one of the original "city cars" the Fiat 500 began production in 1957 as the Nuova 500.  It had a 479cc engine, rear-hinged doors, and produced 13 horse power.  As a way to show their pride in this original model, the modern Fiat 500 can now be purchased as a retro-styled model known as the "1957".

The Nuova changed to the "D" model in 1960 and the engine size increased to 499cc and a whopping 17 horse power.  The "L" or Lusso model began production in 1968 and is the luxury model of all Fiat 500s.

This vehicle is a 1972 model year, was imported from Italy, and has 88,000 Kilometers on the odometer.  It is a dark orange in color with a black interior.  The paint is new and the interior is in excellent condition with one tear in the lower dashboard vinyl.  It was mechanically gone through before being shipped and runs very well with no mechanical problems.  The tires are also new, and all electrics function as they should.

It is a fun car to drive and starts a conversation everywhere you go.  I imported this vehicle and another with the idea of keeping and driving them, but now I need to move this 500L along.

It does not have a US title, but has all of the paperwork needed to obtain one if desired including the importation documents, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) form, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) declaration.

Purchasing and shipping:  Shipping for this vehicle is the sole responsibility of the purchaser.  If you purchase this vehicle, please don't interpret that as the opportunity to negotiate for a lower price.  That being said, I realize that purchasing any vehicle online can be nerve-wracking, therefore; if you arrive to take ownership of this 500L and are not happy in any way, just pay my listing fees (about $150), we'll part as friends, and I'll contact the next bidder or re-list it.

The vehicle is for sale locally, so I may end this listing early.

Thanks for the interest, and email mail me with any questions.

Fiat GIF-based ads make our heads spin

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

Take a good, long look at the image above. Don't worry, it's completely real; you're not hallucinating. Would you believe that's an actual screencap from an actual ad commissioned by Fiat that's airing on actual television? Believe it.
The commercials started as a series of animated GIFs from The Richards Group for Fiat's Tumblr page, according to Adweek. Chrysler's Chief Marketing Officer reportedly liked them enough that he had them cut into ads for TV. The result is a combination of Internet meme heaven that includes the above horse mask and "Deal with it," animation, experimental filmmaking, cats, a person in a bunny suit twerking on a Fiat 500 and more general bizarreness.
Whatever your opinion on them, you have to admit that the advertising is certainly attention grabbing. Imagine looking up at the TV form your tablet to catch a glimpse of this weirdness. If you don't like them, Fiat is even giving people the chance to do a better job. Its Tumblr is open to submissions of new GIFs, which could lead to some very inappropriate and potentially hilarious results given the way that the Internet often works.

Fiat 500X teased in creepy new video

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Fiat is bringing a new variant of its 500 family to the 2014 Paris Motor Show, and as its debut approaches, the tempo of teaser releases is increasing. Earlier this month, we showed you heavily blurred video of the new 500X from a variety of angles. Today, we have a pretty strange spot that actually gives us some unobscured looks at the new compact crossover.
The odd teaser shows a woman on a swing in an abandoned city. If that's not odd enough, she's reciting the ABCs in the sort of sing-song manner generally reserved for possessed children in horror films. Then the 500X arrives.
While we do get a full look at the car's face, the majority of styling cues that we can see don't reveal much that we didn't know. The fascia isn't too dissimilar from the 500L, aside from its soft-road styling features, while the tail boasts a wide set of vertical taillights.

Ram ProMaster City getting facelift courtesy of Fiat Doblo?

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

Our intrepid spy photographers have caught prototypes for a new Fiat Doblo. Now we know what you might be thinking (particularly if you didn't take note of the headline): why would we care about an automaker conducting a facelift on a European cargo van? Normally we wouldn't, only the Fiat Doblo has another name, under which it will be shortly be sold here in America: Ram ProMaster City.
Announced just months ago, the ProMaster City is the smaller counterpart to the Ram ProMaster, which itself is also a rebadged cargo van from Fiat Professional. Think of it as a Chrysler version of the Ford Transit and Transit Connect lineup - European vans being brought Stateside by automakers that operate on both sides of the Atlantic.
But despite the official announcement of the vehicle's pending arrival, we still haven't seen the PMC yet. The disguised Doblo prototypes pictured here appear to be wearing a completely new front end and some cosmetic revisions to their tail ends, too. We can't see anything in the interior, but the fact that it was completely covered up suggests that Fiat is working on overhauling that, as well.
