1961 Thunderbird Tbird Custom Hot Rod 15" Supreme Rims Hardtop 2dr 390 V8 T-bird on 2040-cars
White Lake, Michigan, United States
Old cars always have a story so here we go... This car was a long term restoration project of the previous owner. Over $20,000 invested. I'm not sure when he originally bought it but I have a photocopy of a duplicate title from 1993. (The car has a clear title in my name.) The restoration was 90% finished and the car was mostly reassembled when someone broke into his shop and stole many of the loose parts that had been removed for paint. Unfortunately the painted hood and fender skirts were among the parts that were stolen. The insurance paid off and he started acquiring the parts again. At some point he lost interest in the car and long story short it fell in my lap. I continued to track down the rest of the parts and now have 99% (give or take a percent or two) of the parts to finish it. Plus a truckload or two of extra parts.
The pictures don't do it justice. The only reason I'm selling is after a long hard winter our house needs a new roof :(
The GOOD :) -All the chrome has been redone show quality including the bumpers and small trim. $$$ -The motor (390) and auto trans were professionally rebuilt. $$$ -Body is straight. I cannot find any rust or even any repairs anywhere. -Beautiful red paint. Done by a local hot rod shop. Its a factory Chrysler color (laser red) but it looks like a candy red. $$$ -Everything was cut in when painted including the door jams, trunk and the entire engine compartment when the motor was out. It was a complete, well done color change. -NEW American Made chrome Supremes with good tires. $$$ -I had a rust free hood and fender skirts shipped in from Arizona. $$$ -The car comes with two sets of interior panels. When I bought the car it had cream interior. I bought all the panels to change it to black. -I have some of the receipts for the work but not all of them. I have the invoice for the motor, some of the paint work, and some of the chrome work. -I have a dealer service manual and an assembly manual that come with the car. -I have a full set of spare glass from a parts car. The glass in the car is good so this could be sold or kept as spares. -There is a TON of extra parts. Trim, interior parts, gauges, etc. You can sell off the extra parts and pay for the stuff you need to buy for it. -New battery.
-If purchased for the BUY IT NOW price, and only if purchased for that price I will include a super rare Edelbrock tri-power intake, three core carbs, and super rare Edelbrock finned aluminum valve covers. $$$
The not so good... -The hood and fender skirts need to be painted. -I do not have the original four barrel carb since I planned to install a tri-power intake. The motor was started for me with a borrowed carb when I bought it. I do not have a carb for it and it cannot start without it. -The seats are useable if you needed to put it on the road but need to be reupholstered to be as nice as the car. -I don't have a carpet for it. These are available new in any color for around $200. -I have some of the weather seals (new in box) but I don't have all of them. -The exhaust looks okay overall but the mufflers are split on the bottom and should be replaced. -There are a handful of small paint chips from being moved in and out of storage. Nothing worse than what will happen after a couple hundred miles of driving but they're there so I'm mentioning it.
PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID. IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE CAR MESSAGE ME WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND A I WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY THE CAR, MOVE THE CAR, PERMISSION FROM YOUR WIFE OR WHATEVER ELSE YOU NEED BEFORE YOU BID. A NON-REFUNDABLE $1000 DEPOSIT IS DUE WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION END AND CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 10 DAYS UNLESS OTHER ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE BEFORE THE AUCTION ENDS. Keep in mind this is a project. It is a very nice project and all of the "big money" required to restore a car the right way has been spent. If you want an extremely nice, good looking T-bird for pennies on the dollar this is the one!

Ford Focus was best-selling nameplate in 2012
Tue, 09 Apr 2013Last August, Ford made a few waves by claiming that the Ford Focus was, at that point, the top-selling car in the world. The automaker failed to account for variations of the Toyota Corolla wearing a different name (such as the Auris and Matrix), however. With official data from Polk coming in now, Ford is able to say that the Focus was, in fact, the best-selling nameplate in the world last year.
Using new-car registrations (which doesn't factor in fleet sales), the Polk data shows that a total of more than one million Focus models around the world. Strong sales in the US and China have led to a 16 percent increase in year-over-year Focus sales from 2011 that helped to create even more of a gap between it and the second-best global seller, the Corolla.
Ford also had the Fiesta and F-Series listed in the top 10 for worldwide nameplates, but what's even more impressive is the fact that the F-Series is only sold in North America. Scroll down to see the list (compiled by Ford using Polk data) of the top global sellers last year and a press release from Ford.
Ford overlooks the Big Apple in the 2015 Mustang Convertible [w/video]
Wed, 16 Apr 2014Ford has done it again. Like in April of 1964, there is once again an all-new Mustang Convertible sitting on the observation deck of New York City's Empire State Building. This has been in the making for a little while, with the first report that Ford would recreate the sky-high publicity stunt coming out a few weeks back.
The process of getting the Mustang up there wasn't exactly easy. A Troy, MI-based company chopped up the new droptop, a necessary evil to get the Mustang on the Empire State Building's only freight elevator that runs to the 86th floor observation deck. But it was slightly more involved than just taking the car apart. The company, DST, built a mockup of the ESB's freight elevators, and then practiced its cuts on a second pre-production Mustang Convertible (measure twice, cut once).
The result of all this work are the images you see above. Yes, sitting in the crisp, morning air of midtown Manhattan, over 1,000 feet up, is this brilliant, Triple Yellow Mustang. Take a look up top for our gallery of images from today's event. You can also scroll down for videos and images of the process leading up to the ESB debut.
Mustang driver proves wheels are overrated
Mon, 21 Apr 2014We don't need to tell you that there's something missing in the image above. What we do need to tell you is that this is not a picture of a parked car stranded on the highway. This is, rather, just one frame from video of that three-wheeled Mustang traveling down the highway at highway-appropriate speed.
We don't know where you'd have to be nor how badly you'd have to be there to go shooting down the freeway in a car with three wheels, but if the New Daily News is correct, that place is somewhere in Texas. The video's short, but you'll have plenty of time to shake your head at it by just scrolling down.
