Madera, California, United States

You are bidding on a 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe with 289 engine and automatic transmission. Stock, including hubcaps. Many NEW parts. 76,080.7 Miles. Perfect driving project!!!

What's New: Brake shoes, brake drums, brake springs, wheel cylinders, wheel bearings and seals, power steering cylinders, starter, starter solenoid, shocks, battery.

What doesn't work: The A/C compressor is locked up. The gas gauge is faulty (indicates incorrectly).

The car has been sanded and primered. There were a couple small rust spots in the typical areas (left rear lower fender, left door jam). Other than that, there was only very light surface oxidation under the vinyl top that was removed. Straight body. I'm unaware, and uncertain of any past damage or accidents. Original hub caps. Most of the side lettering is there (missing the G's).

Nice interior. I'm not sure how old it is, or if it's original, but it looks very good (see photos). The dash and instrument cluster look great.

The car runs and drives good, however does have a bit of a miss at idle. It shifts through the gears properly. The brakes are new and need to be broken in (doesn't stop quickly).

You are welcome and encouraged to come inspect the car in Madera, CA. The car is being sold as-is, where is, with clear California title (pink slip in hand). Please ask questions prior to bidding. (559) 259-2268

Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

Mon, 03 Jan 2011

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
