Ready for the beach and the warm days ahead!  I picked up this 68 Bronco last year with grand ideas, but moving to a smaller place with a 1 year old and a new job pretty much leave no time or space for such a versatile, fun vehicle.  Better send it to a good home than let it sit :-)

The car is not perfect by any means but is well-rounded.  It has that timeless vintage look with bright colors, fender flares, and 4 wheel drive.  This rig is upgraded with a fuel injected 302 V8, disc brakes, and 32" tires.  The bed has a Linex spray bed liner.  Inside are like-new seats and a modern radio.  Bonus back seat too!

I like the rare pick-up truck top look and versatility.  You can't drive anywhere without envy or compliments.  This truck can be enjoyed as a classic but is also useful for work around the house.  The pick-up top can of course be removed for open cruising.  The car runs and drives well enough.  There are some leaks and rust but the vehicle is 35 years old.

This could be a candidate for full restoration but would also be great to enjoy while making it yours with little weekend projects such as replacing valve cover seals, adding a roll bar, or doing some very light body work.  This car is metal not fiberglass.  It can be enjoyed as-is.

The few main flaws are some oil leaking and a small amount of rust inside the engine compartment/wheel well interface and rocker panels.  There is a previous rust repair in the driver's side floor pan.  The frame is solid and most of the car has only surface rust if any.  The benefit of being in the West Coast climate.

The vehicle is located in the Portland, OR Metro area and is also for sale locally.  Purchaser is responsible for picking up the vehicle.  This truck is sold as-is with no warranty.  I reserve the right to cancel the auction if a local sale is made first.  Finally, for any Oregon State University (OSU) fans, take note of the color scheme :-)  Enjoy!

Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands

Next SVT Mustang may axe Shelby name, go naturally aspirated

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Following our first glimpse at the 2015 Ford Mustang out on the road, the fine folks at Road and Track have divulged some details on what the Blue Oval's next pony might have in store. We've already seen that the car will get some very sleek, Evos-inspired design cues, and an independent rear suspension is indeed in store. These new details, however, concern the muscle car's beating heart.
For starters, the base Ford coupe is expected to carry on with V6 power, likely from the same 3.7-liter unit found in today's car. From there, R&T says the next step up will be a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, likely displacing 2.3 liters, putting out as much as 350 horsepower. Of course, a Mustang wouldn't be a Mustang without V8 thrust, and R&T states that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will continue on into the 2015 car, making something like 450 horsepower.
But it's at the high end of the Mustang range where things will, reportedly, get very, very interesting. Road & Track claims that the top-shelf 'Stang will likely lose the supercharger from its engine, producing a metric crap-ton of naturally aspirated grunt instead. Additionally, the SVT-fettled Mustang will likely be dropping its Shelby moniker, in favor of "a name you're familiar with," according to the magazine (you know, like, Cobra).

What next for Alan Mulally?

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

Alan Mulally has emerged as a hero when it comes to American manufacturing. He came to Ford in 2006 after serving as head of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, streamlined operations, sold off the costly elements of its Premier Automotive Group and saved Ford from having to be bailed out by the federal government like its cross-town rivals Chrysler and General Motors did. But as we reported mere days ago, he's widely expected to step down from the chief executive's office at Ford shortly.
So what's next for one of the most successful executives in the business? Hard to say, but don't expect Mulally to disappear into retirement. Though he didn't ultimately take the top job at Microsoft, industry insiders expect to see him in another influential position - likely as a board director or even chairman of another company. (We say "another company" and not Ford because while Bill Ford may have stepped aside as CEO to bring Mulally on board in the first place, we don't see him giving up his chairmanship of the board also.)
Mulally has likely already lined up his next move, and could either announce what that move will be as soon as Ford confirms Mark Fields as his successor, or could wait awhile. Insiders speculate that he could leverage his transportation and aerospace experience into a position at General Electric or a major airline, his manufacturing expertise to benefit a company like Procter & Gamble or his management skills at a consultancy firm.
