The good, the bad and the ugly. What you see is what you get. THE BODY HAS NOT BEEN CUT. I bought this as a project for my son and I. Due to financial reasons it needs to go. The story... I bought this from a guy who rebuilt it with his father. I was told that it was purchased in the early eighties with 60,??? miles on it. It now suppose to have 124,000. The father died and the son inherited it. Son drove it home, parked it in the drive and went in the house. Son came back out and the Bronco was gone..? The Bronco had jumped out of gear and rolled down a really long, really steep hill. I've seen the pictures, it wasn't pretty. It hit a tree, a really large tree, rear left. The heavy duty bumper took a lot of the force but the Bronco took its share. The guy literally could not stand to look at it... I bought it and here we are. It cranks. It drives very well. Four wheel drive works. All lights and switches work (except rear left tail light). Three on the tree. Three speed on column. Linkage is very sticky. It does shift and go into all gears, just very sticky and tricky. Stops but needs brake work. Brakes are mushy. Please look at pictures closely. From the drivers door around the front to the right rear, no problems. Left rear??? that's a different story. Original rims and hubs. Comes with spare tire and  a damaged tailgate. Also comes with fiberglass half cab that was not on at the time of the accident. No insurance collected and no reports. Comes with a clear title. I believe that it is a 2.8 170cu straight six. Original horn does not work but comes with a horn that plays music? Windshield is cracked. I am relisting another vehicle tonight because of a nonpaying bidder, if you have less than (10) (positive) feedback contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. Fill free to ask questions. Thank you for your interest in my item. Good Luck. No reserve.

Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod

Tue, 21 Oct 2014

Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.

Ford to build Explorer in Russia to meet demand [w/video]

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

The current Ford Explorer is sold in more than 64 countries, and this three-row vehicle continues to grow in popularity worldwide. To keep up with demand, Ford began producing the Explorer at Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant in Tatarstan, Russia, a joint venture facility. This partnership will build Russian-market Explorers only, and production of export vehicles not destined for Russian buyers will continue to be built at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago.
Before this plant went online, Ford would ship Explorers to Russia (and other regions around the world) as partially assembled knock-down units where final assembly would eventually take place. While there is no indication as to how many Explorers Ford Sollers will build for Russia, Ford did add that exports of the SUV were up 65 percent last year (from 2011) accounting for more than 24,000 units.
Scroll down for a press release about the Russian Explorer as well as a video (bad music and all) showing the SUV being produced in Tatarstan.

Holy crime-fighting Ford F-150, Batman!

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

What would Batman drive for his weekly trips to Home Depot for the bits and pieces needed to keep his lair deep below Wayne Manor in tip-top condition? Certainly not the Batmobile - there's no way a 4x8 sheet of plywood will fit between the wheel wells, not to mention the fact that jet turbine engines have an unfortunate tendency to set trailers on fire when towing...
No, what Batman needs is a pickup truck. The boys from Ford teamed up with Galpin Auto Sports to build just such a machine, and it has just debuted at Comic Con. Designed by Jared Barris, grandson of the legendary kustomizer George Barris, the 2012 F-150 pickup you see here, dubbed Crime Fighter, is painted Tuxedo Black with Ferrari Red highlights and is affixed with fins on each side of the truck bed. It's nothing if not unique.
Well, it's at least unique for now. According to Ford, Galpin in Southern California is willing to take orders for customers looking to don a cape and hit the town for a night of crime-fighting action. Or trips to Home Depot. Check out our high-res image gallery and then scroll down for the official description from Ford. We're waiting for details such as pricing and build time from Ford, and we'll update this post if and when we hear back.
