SELLER REMARKS

It sure looks like Streetside Classics is the place to shop for clean early Broncos. Our latest is this 1971 4x4 with a 302, which shows well thanks to an iconic paint job and classic interior. With these trucks finally getting the recognition fans have always known they deserve, now is the time to put one in your garage, because prices are only going up from here.

Sometimes there's nothing like the clean, chiseled looks of the first-generation Bronco, and with the attractive Light Copper Metallic and Tampico Yellow combination, this one looks spectacular. Super clean, straight, and with a few neat details, this Bronco delivers all the goodness of the original design but will make onlookers take a few extra moments to take it all in. Note the contrasting grille, the neat fit of the doors, and the color-matched hardtop, all of which give this Bronco an awesome profile. A few subtle pinstripes give it a slightly custom touch and highlight the arrow-straight body lines, and while the finish isn't perfect and shows some age, it definitely grabs your attention on the road or in the dirt. A few chrome dress-up items, including a brush guard up front with integral tow hooks, a set of practical tubular steps, and a roof rack make this one look ready for action.

Early Mustang fans are always comfortable in the Bronco interior, thanks to twin buckets that are similar, but not quite identical to the Mustang units. Nicely upholstered using attractive colors and comfortable cloth seating surfaces, it's a lot more upscale-looking than most off-roaders of the period. Part of that look is the fresh carpets and correct door panels, all of which work to carry the awesome color combination throughout the truck. Have a look at the door frames and sills, where there's no sign of rust, and out back there's a tailgate with a matching carpet insert. The dashboard is completely stock with original gauges and a black dash pad that helps with glare in the windshield on sunny days. For function, there's a Hurst T-handle shifter atop the transfer case, a wooden handle for the 3-speed manual transmission, and a 3-spoke steering wheel that looks period-perfect.

Under the hood, there's a 302 cubic inch V8, looking right at home with its shiny chrome air cleaner and finned valve covers. The 302 was a late addition to the Bronco lineup, but it transformed the little truck, giving it the soul of a muscle car and effortless performance on and off road. The black engine enamel looks pretty recent and has an all-business look that helps keep the engine looking tidy even after a day of playing in the dirt. Original exhaust manifolds help control noise and heat and stainless steel hose sleeves look flashy and perhaps add a modicum of protection when you're off-roading (OK, they're mostly about style). There's nothing radical going on under the hood so it's reliable when you need it most, and the robust running gear behind it means that you have to do something genuinely foolish to hurt it. A great-sounding dual exhaust system reminds everyone that there's definitely a V8 under the hood and those shiny aluminum wheels have just been fitted with new 33x11.50-15 off-road radials.

If you've been wishing for an early Bronco, don't miss this opportunity for one of the most attractive ones we've seen yet. Call today!

Ford to hack $4k off price of Focus EV amid slow sales

Wed, 10 Jul 2013

Between slow sales and a hefty price drop for its nearest rival, the Ford Focus Electric may be looking at a pretty substantial price cut. The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will drop the price of the all-electric by about $4,000 to $35,200 to be more competitive with the Nissan Leaf, which received a big price cut for 2013 down to $28,800.
Ford has already admitted to having low expectations for the car's sales and massive rebates were reported earlier in the year, but there is still no official word from Ford on this matter. The company's consumer site still lists the 2014 model's starting price as $39,200. In addition to the Leaf, the Focus Electric will also have to deal with the lower prices of smaller EVs including the Honda Fit EV, Fiat 500e and the Chevrolet Spark EV.

2016 Ford Focus RS mule spotted on US soil

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

Okay Ford, this is what we like to see. One of our intrepid spy photographers has captured a vehicle that we weren't even sure would see the light of day - the next Focus RS. While this is pretty clearly a mule based on the current Focus ST, as our spy points out, there are a number of giveaways about this hot hatch's true nature.
Indication number one that all is not right with this Focus is the heavily camo'd front fascia, which has been completely reconfigured for duty on the RS. It boasts significantly larger grilles that are meant to accommodate what is likely the 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder that's destined for the 2015 Ford Mustang. Considering that, then, we can expect around 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque from the hottest of Foci, although it's entirely possible that the production model could climb even higher, to around 330 hp.
The front fascia tweaks are complemented in the back by a modified rear bumper, which fails at hiding a pair of exhaust tips quite unlike the standard Focus ST's center-exit exhaust. Other obvious changes include the wheel/tire/brake package on this particular car. Larger 19-inch wheels are shod in super-sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in 235/35/19 while the brakes feature what we think are four-piston calipers, possibly from Brembo, up front.
