This is an IST surveillance van (Manufactured at their facility in Florida) that we used primarily for unmanned operations. This van is a true sleeper. No one ever suspects it, even police officers flip out when seeing the inside! You could easily restore it to its former glory for about 5 to 7 thousand dollars. That is including some basic equipment so you can use it for manned operations too. (I already had an estimate to do bodywork and paint for $1800)

I only have current pictures of the outside of the vehicle. Inside pics are from 2007, but it looks pretty much the same, and has primarily been in storage the whole time. It has never been used on a case more than one day, or one parking. We have only put I believe around 4 to 6,000 miles on this van . The original retail was over $80,000, and you can still buy this year van (but with more mileage) from the manufacturer for 30K+. We are the second owner.

NAPA value on this is 7375.00

It has an electrical problem, and it will drain a battery over night. I can tell you what I know in relation to the electrical after you buy it. We pulled a lot of the wiring out that connected the back of the van, to the front engine area. Especially to the battery bank, in an attempt to trouble shoot. We kept all items removed, and since we are not electrical specialists, we (By this I mean our backyard mechanic...lol) couldn't figure it out.

It needs the following:
1. Paint and bodywork (When we removed the latter rack, we found lots of rust and some wiring holes. Most have been sealed.
2. It needs a new window motor plastic gear (we believe) for passenger door, and the door needs reassembled. I believe we have all the parts.
3. Needs equipment. If you buy this van, you can use my business account to order equipment "at cost". All you need is a minimum of 8 channel DVR; four pinhole cameras, and one incredible zoom camera for the periscope. Guessing $1500.00?
4. Periscope controller is missing, and needs new mirrors. I have never been able to use it, due to not knowing how to operate it. Any periscope company can fix this, or a electrical/mechanical engineer. But I would recommend you get it from IST, since it is their creation. Price: Unknown. Should be less than $500?
5. New batteries for battery bank under floor. (The big semi truck type)
6. Huge power inverter needs repaired. (New this unit costs over $1,000, a new replacement is over $800. It would be cheaper top repair)
7. Seat floor track cleaned. I do not know how to operate seat. Like I said, all I used this van for was unmanned operations. Either using a internet type setup, or a review later (TL-VCR) type recording device.

Equipment still in it:
1. Recarro racing seat
2. Some sort of Poloroid picture processing machine. Do not know anything about it, but it has "Poloroid" on it. Its pretty big, and its possible it is a printer of some sort. Because of where it is mounted, I believe they forgot to remove it.
3. Massive silent Ice air conditioner. Its the biggest I have ever seen. It must hold 20 bags of ice.
4. Huge equipment power switching panel. see pics with red switches.
5. Battery bank charger, built into cabinet. see pics, it is white.
6. External AC power hookup (wheel well)
7. Shotgun mount with security retained device.
8. Complete desk system.
9. Taken down, but I still have all the communications antennas that were covertly installed in the latter rack.
10. Defog fans built near every window.

Operational features: (Not sure if currently working, some items we removed wiring on, but still have all wiring & parts)
1. Van automobile AC system cools front and back. Just had it pressure tested for 8 hours no leeks, but it is not cooling. The police did upgrade the AC system to today's standards. (Also has silent ice AC that works off of bags of ice)
2. Keyed ignition in back of van. To start vehicle when batteries are running low. This is where the power inverter is suppose to kick in. We removed the inverter, but never repaired it.
3. Battery bank master switch, located in rear of van. I believe switches van from front engine power to rear battery bank.
4. Hidden microphones around exterior of van, all wiring still in place.
5. 9 camera ports (Includes motorized periscope)
6. Supposedly can run 12+ hours on DC battery power.
7. Blackout switch for brake lights, and cab lights. (If you need to relocate the van at night, this is a nice option)
8. Siren
9. Can start and adjust idle of van from rear of van.

We replaced the tires between 2 and 4 thousand miles ago at a price of $800 (Not including spare, it was replaced with a used tire)

Anyways, I hope you like. A E350 with 22,063 original miles! It is worth every penny. You can always convert it back to a cargo van too, and sell all the equipment separately. Good luck!

PLEASE NOTE: I AM SELLING THIS VAN LOCALLY ALSO, I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PULL IT OFF LINE AT ANY TIME IF IT SELLS LOCALLY! THIS INCLUDES DURING THE BIDDING PROCESS! Thank you for understanding.

2014 Ford Fiesta gets fuel economy bump to 41 mpg

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

The 2014 Ford Fiesta is in showrooms now with refreshed styling and new performance ST model, but it's what isn't yet available that should help the Fiesta stand out from the growing crowd of subcompacts. Aside from the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost model coming later this year, Ford recently told us that a new Fiesta SFE trim level is on the way that should put the updated Fiesta at the top of its class for fuel economy.
The new Fiesta SFE will hit an estimated 41 miles per gallon on the highway when equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission. The current listing on fueleconomy.gov shows the 2014 Fiesta getting up to 29 mpg city and 39 highway, but the SFE will get minor aero tuning and a recalibrated engine controller to help bump the highway figure past rivals like the Chevrolet Sonic and Nissan Versa - both of which top out at 40-mpg highway. There's still no word as to when the small 1.0-liter EcoBoost will show in the US, but Ford has indicated that engine's fuel economy isn't expected to be released until October.

Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.

Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems

Fri, 29 Mar 2013

A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
