You are Looking at a ONE OWNER 2006 DIESEL E-450 box truck. This truck has 121,870, which is nothing for a Diesel. This truck is ready to work. The E-450 starts right up and runs smoothly. The transmission shifts perfectly through all gears. This E-450 has a 16' Box. It has tons of room and some nice shelves to organize everything you need to put in it. The inside of the Box definitely shows it was heavily used, but it only cosmetic. There is a sliding door in the partition that allows you to get what you need without opening the rear door. This truck has a nice light aluminum ramp that slides out of the back of the truck to make loading and unloading easier. The A/C is ice cold for those hot summer days. The AM/FM stereo sounds great. The driver and passenger seats are both stained, and the driver seat has 2 good sized chunks taken out of it (Pictured). The body is very clean and looks like this truck was barely used. The chrome front bumper and grill give this truck a great look. There is a 7"-8" area on the driver side door that the paint peeled off, this has been touched up. The rear lower back of the box is dented (Pictured). The rear step is slightly bent (Pictured). The top right corner of the rear door has some damage You are Looking at a ONE OWNER 2006 DIESEL E-450 box truck. This truck has 121,870, which is nothing for a Diesel. This truck is ready to work. The front tires are in great condition, however the rear tires will need to be replaced sooner then later. It runs so well I wouldn't hesitate driving this across country. It just recently passed RI inspection. I am not sure whether the gas gauge is working or not. You should assume it does not. NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder
Fri, 11 Jul 2014There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books
Fri, 08 Aug 2014The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.
Ford worker files for UAW dues refund, stirs right-to-work debate
Sun, 24 Aug 2014Let's start with some history: Ford's Dearborn truck plant, part of the company's massive River Rouge complex, was the center of a strike in 1941 that led to Ford signing the first "closed shop" agreement in the industry. The agreement obliged every worker at the plant to be a dues-paying member of the United Auto Workers. In December 2012, however, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed legislation making Michigan a right-to-work state, which outlawed closed shops. The new law gave workers the right to opt out of union membership and stop paying dues even if they were still covered by union activities like collective bargaining. For employees at the Dearborn plant, the right-to-work clauses take effect at the end of their current contract in 2015.
As a tool-and-die maker at Ford's Dearborn plant for 16 years, Todd Lemire pays dues to the UAW - about two hours' salary per month. However, he's been unhappy with the UAW's support of the Democratic party, and not wanting to wait until next year to be out of the UAW entirely he invoked his Beck Rights, which state that a non-member of a union does not have to pay dues to support non-core activities, such as political spending. But Lemire wasn't happy that Ford still subtracted the total amount of dues, with the UAW reimbursing the difference, so he filed suit with the National Labor Relations Board, feeling that the workaround violates his rights.
Lemire's case is just a week old, so it could be a while before a resolution. Yet, as September 15, 2015 draws near and the right-to-work laws take full effect for Michigan workers - and others wonder whether it could help revitalize the state's manufacturing base - a case like this adds more fuel to the discussion.
