2001 Ford Escape Xls 4cyl Manual Trans on 2040-cars
Lunenburg, Massachusetts, United States
Up for auction is my mother in law's Ford Escape. We have owned it for many years, but she wanted a smaller vehicle, and purchased a 2014 Ford Focus. This is a 4 cylinder with a standard transmission. It has working AC, power windows and locks, and a 6 disc cd player. The tires are fairly new, as well as a tune up, battery and shift cable. There is more, but I can't remember it all. We have all the repair documents since we've owned it. It has some rust, but it passed MA inspection. It could use a good cleaning inside. The Escape needs a new driveshaft center bearing, as it makes noise. Ford only sells the bearing with the complete driveshaft, but NAPA and various other sources sell just the bearing for $60. My mechanic said roughly $250-$300 for labor to replace. The vehicle is driveable. We drive it down the street and back at least once a week, but advise to have it towed. I can have it fixed before you pick the vehicle up, but you need to pay up front for that. KBB value in fair condition is $1957. Buy this for much less. The vehicle is for sale locally a well, and I reserve the right to end the auction early if need be. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking. |

And the Top Gear UK Cars of the Year for 2013 are...
Tue, 17 Dec 2013Those loony Brits at Top Gear have named their Car of the Year, and if you're thinking it's the McLaren P1, Jaguar F-Type, Land Rover Range Rover Sport or Rolls-Royce Wraith, we're sorry to inform you that none of those Anglo automobiles earned the crown. In fact, the winner of Top Gear's most prestigious award is quite the surprise.
Of course, those cars weren't without their own awards. The P1 was the top hypercar (sorry, Porsche 918 and Ferrari LaFerrari), while the F-Type netted best convertible and the Range Rover Sport was voted SUV of the Year. Other honorable mentions included the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black and S-Class, the Porsche 911 GT3, the BMW i3 and the Ferrari 458 Speciale. The winner, though, wasn't even a high-dollar supercar. It was the Ford Fiesta ST.
Yes, the Fiesta ST beat out some off-the-wall cars like the revolutionary Volkswagen XL1 and the bonkers Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak, not to mention all the cars we listed above, to take the title of Top Gear Car of the Year. And if you've driven one, you'll completely understand why.
2015 Ford Mustang spied on video for the first time
Thu, 20 Jun 2013Not many cars will continue to hold our rapt attention quite like the upcoming redesigned 2015 Ford Mustang, codenamed S550 internally. Earlier this month, we brought you the first spy photos of a next-gen Mustang prototype out testing, and even though expertly placed cladding concealed the pony car's new shape, we could tell that underneath was hiding an altogether new form inspired by the Evos Concept from 2011.
Today we give you some video of what looks to be the same Mustang prototype, which you can watch below, and while the budding director behind the camera wasn't able to capture much in the way of the engine's audio signature, we can see the car in motion for the first time and compare its relative size and shape to the S197 Mustang GT that's on its tail.
Facelifted Ford Focus caught testing in the cold
Wed, 18 Dec 2013It's that time in the life of the Ford Focus to get a little work done - a nip-tuck here, some Botox there. Yes, Ford is testing a facelifted version of its global C-segment entry, which first hit markets in Europe and North America in May 2011.
Like the touchup on the Fiesta, expect Ford's gaping grille to make its first appearance on the Focus. Our spy photographers point out that this is likely to be a more comprehensive makeover than previous spy shots suggested, based on the additional camouflage seen here on the front and rear ends of this five-door model. New head and taillights are also likely in order, as are changes to the front and rear fascia.
The interior was also snapped and features a cleaner design with a larger central display. Other than that, it looks like some buttons have been changed, making us think most of the Focus' updates are limited to the exterior.
