2003 Ford Escort Zx2 on 2040-cars

Year:2003 Mileage:141529 Color: of the car looks good
Location:

Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, United States

Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, United States

I purchased this vehicle to use as a commuter car for the great gas mileage. Unfortunately the transmission started acting up and I went back to driving my other vehicle. I only got to put a few thousand of miles on the car and before the trans problems but it drove great and everything seemed nice and tight. I purchased the zx2 from the original owners knowing that it needed a head gasket. I had the head machined and new valve guides installed prior to replacing the head gasket. Before I started driving the car I replaced the front pass caliper and pads on both sides, 2 new front tires and I also bought 2 snow tires that come with the car. Also replaced were the rear shoes and the exhaust from catalytic converter back. I also put a new pioneer stereo that has a usb/ipod hookup with the proper harness.

Interior of the car is in excellent shape, there is a burn hole in the rear seat on the pass side. The rest of the interior shows little to no wear and still has a nice smell as I know the original owner was a non smoker. all the power accessories work as they should, power windows, power locks, power sunroof(no leaks), and the power mirrors.

The engine ran great when I was driving it and I didn't have an issue with it at all, when the head gasket was done I also did a tune up plugs, wires, the fuel filter. I also had to have the engine re timed do the a failed vct solenoid and with the part and labor it ran me a little over 800 dollars and the ford dealer in Edinboro pa

The transmission still moves the car, when placed in D it slips but engages normally in L, I'm not sure if it is a solenoid in the valve body or if it just needs replaced. once started out in low if you put the selector in D it shifts normally until you come to a stop then you have to do it all over again.

The exterior of the car looks good, has a few minor dings and dents and a few scratches. It is also missing the door molding on the drivers door. There are a few surface rust spots but nothing that is through the metal, the undercarriage has some corrosion but is still nice and solid

I hate to let it go but with already having a car and a new baby now my priorities have changed and its time to move on.

The zx2 is sold as is/where is. It is up to the buyer to pick up or make arrangements for shipping, I am happy to help load the vehicle as I wouldn't drive it not knowing when the transmission is going to completely go out.

Buyer is responsible for title transfer fees

The reserve price is not much more than scrap.

Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."

Ford brings FPV Falcon production in house [w/video]

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

For the first time since 1976, Ford of Australia is bringing the assembly of its stonking Ford Performance Vehicle line back in-house to the company's Broadmeadows and Geelong facilities. That's a point of pride for FPV, which builds high-performance versions of the Australian Falcon model like the F6, GS and the heroic GT seen here.
In the video below, we hear FPV employees talking in hushed tones about the important legacy that cars like the GT have for Australian gearheads of all stripes, and how proud they are to say that hand-built machines like this GT R-Spec with its Boss 355 engine are now rolling out of their home base. For our part, we're just dying to drive this version of the Coyote V8; the engine is rocking a "Miami" supercharger from Harrop and makes some 450 horsepower.
Continue on below for the video, or you can check out some images of the new FPV at the facility, as well as a gallery of the GT R-Spec car.

Former Ford president, Jaguar chairman Nick Scheele dead at 70

Sun, 20 Jul 2014

We have the privilege here at Autoblog of reporting a lot of good news, but it is our duty as well to report the bad news and sad news as well. And this is one of those occasions as the automotive industry mourns the passing of one of its leaders.
Nick Scheele was born in the UK in 1944 and joined the Ford Motor Company upon graduating from the University of Durham in 1966, staying within the Blue Oval's portfolio for the entirety of his career. After moving to North America in 1978, he rose through the ranks to become president of Ford's Mexican operations in 1988. After acquiring Jaguar, Ford appointed Scheele as its chairman.
Scheele subsequently acted as chairman of all of Ford's European operations, making difficult decisions to take the division out of the red and into the black. He briefly headed up Ford's North American division before he was appointed in 2001 as president and chief operating officer of the global automaker, working under CEO Bill Ford following the departure of Jacques Nasser departure and retaining the role until his retirement in 2005.
