Picked up a 2005 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer Edition. Literally every option that was available in what was the largest SUV mass produced for the general public. Power windows, locks, heated leather, rear DVD entertainment, more climate control settings than you can shake a stick at. It has the 6.0 Turbo Diesel engine in there which purrs like a kitten, zero modifications to the engine except a K&N Air filter system was added and a new K&N filter was recently purchased and installed by myself. What more could you ask for? How about a pretty boss looking brush guard up front. Not enough you say? Fine fine how about a lift kit with black rims to make this even more of a monster. What? more? Ok ok fine it has the most bad ass looking roof rack on it I've ever seen put on a vehicle which is currently being used to house the spare tire.

The thing runs amazing I've put about 2,000 miles or so on it in the last month I've had it including a couple of longer road trips. For it's size and very obvious lack of proper aerodynamics I was really shocked that I was getting ~14mpg with it on the highway, about 11-12 in town.

If you have ever wanted to turn heads and make your neighbors envy you, or if you are a proper trailsman and want to upgrade your little dinky Jeep Wrangler this is the beast to do. If you want any more pictures of anything specific let me know. The only sore spot is on the front bumper passenger side, there is a picture, little surface rust starting there. The driver seat shows a bit of wear as well, but nothing bad.

Please don't hesitate with any questions or comments or if you can't wait and need to buy this bad boy right now.

Thanks!

A closer look at the 2015 Ford F-150

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Despite having to share Ford's Detroit Auto Show stand with the hot new 2015 Mustang, the brand-new F-150 was arguably an even more important debut. Why? Ford moved some 700,000 examples of its F-Series truck in 2012, making it not only the best-selling pickup truck, but the top-selling vehicle in the US, by a long-shot.
The 2015 F-150 raises the bar for pickup trucks in a big way, with big-time use of aluminum. Because of this, roughly 700 pounds have been removed from the truck's overall weight, making it even more efficient than before, while still offering all of the capability that pickup owners expect. And with a host of engines under the hood, including a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, the 2015 F-150 will surely offer something for everyone.
During the Detroit Auto Show, west coast editor Michael Harley took a closer look at the new F-150, talking to some of the truck's engineers. Have a look at the full video, below.

Ford posts record pre-tax Q3 profit of $2.6B

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

Ford took in $2.6 billion in pre-tax profits in the third quarter of the year, making for a record trio of months that saw the Blue Oval's year-over-year earnings increase by $426 million. The earnings are being attributed not just to improvements in North American sales, but sales around the globe.
Revenue was up 12 percent, to $36 billion, although net income took a hit, dropping $359 million to $1.3 billion. Ford was dinged with $498 million in pre-tax charges, which are being blamed for the drop in net income.
The news has boosted Ford's hopes for full-year results, bumping it's total profits up past $8 billion, according to Automotive News. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer is still expecting a loss in Europe, although it's forecasted less than the $1.73 billion it burned in 2012. In fact, according to CFO Bob Shanks, Ford's European losses dropped by 51 percent year-over year, a huge improvement for the brand.

Introducing the 1965 Ford Mustang

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

Put on your space suits and diving bell helmets, for it's time to step into a time capsule. The 50th anniversary of a historic model, like, say, the Porsche 911 this year, is certain to bring flights of nostalgia. This historical trip with the 1965 Mustang, though - preliminary hype for next year's anniversary, we know - is a swell museum exhibit for anyone who enjoys bygone days of the automobile.
Lee Iaccoca gave a speech to motoring journalists on April 1, 1964 at the New York World's Fair to introduce a sporty car for younger drivers. His opening line: "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to one of the proudest moments of our lives." The company was so excited by what it had made that the Mustang was Ford's first "International Press Introduction," being introduced to some 2,000 journos around the world on the same day in the US and 11 European cities. Even through its difficult points, no one at the time could have known how well the Mustang would acquit that pride.
After the intro, the press drove Mustangs 750 miles from New York to Dearborn, MI, reading press kits that touted features like the "vertical, three-sectional taillights/turn signals," "170" six-cylinder engine with 101 horsepower and the available Cruise-O-Matic transmission.
