This 2003 Ford Excursion has always been in private use.  It was built for a Fortune 500 CEO who was afraid to fly.  They took a brand new fully loaded V10 Excursion 4x4 Limited and had a top coachworks builder modify the interior.  Inside is a mini bar with a self draining champagne ice well, nice stemware, led lights throughout.  Rear AC and heat, heated seats.  Excellent sound system.  6 disc in dash cd changer for driver and full independent audio-video entertainment system for the rear occupants.  Including a flat screen TV that goes up and down in the divider wall, DVD player, CD player, ipod/iphone sound/movie inputs, etc.  Intercom (phone style) between driver and rear occupants.

This Excursion is in excellent condition.  It has always been garaged and maintained with an open checkbook.  It has no issues and currently needs nothing.  No rust, always a Texas truck.  Clear title

What is great about this truck, is that while it is more comfortable than a stretch towncar, from the outside it just looks like a normal black excursion with tinted windows.  It does not draw too much unwanted attention.

Just had 4 new BFG A/T KO tires at the cost of $1500 installed, including the lifetime replacement certificates from Discount Tire.

Last year had a major service including new brakes, battery, coil packs, plugs, all fluids, etc.  Ready to drive anywhere.

3 minor issues worth mentioning - vehicle is equipped with a rearview mirror backup camera which stopped working (the audio parking sensors still work great).  The partition between the driver and rear cabin has recently started to make a noticeable clicking noise while moving it up or down.  The driver's seat shows a little wear on the outside edge from getting in and out, but is overall still in good condition, all the rest of the seats and carpet are in excellent condition.

Enterprise working with renter's insurance to cover $47k Mustang stolen from its lot

Sat, 11 Jan 2014

There was more than a bit of public indigence following the recent story of Enterprise Rent-A-Car billing a customer $47,000 to replace a Ford Mustang GT Convertible stolen from a Nova Scotia lot. To recap: Kristen Cockerill rented the Mustang for two days, returned it to the lot on a Sunday and left the keys in a secure dropbox only for Enterprise employees to find the car gone the next day.
Despite Enterprise policies stating that customers are responsible for vehicles dropped on off-days, the company has admitted that the situation could've been handled a bit better.
In a recent statement, Enterprise has backed off the big-bill story, and claims to be working with Cockerill and her insurance company to resolve the issue. Further, the Enterprise general manager overseeing Nova Scotia has spoken with the harried renter, and apologized "for the way this claim was handled during the last few months."

Project Ugly Horse: Part VIII

Now With More EcoBoost
There's an EcoBoost 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in there somewhere, and it's headed straight for Ugly Horse.
For the second time in my life, I'm staring at an engine in the back of a truck with no concept of how to get it safely into the garage by my lonesome. The first time this happened, I dragged home a $300 International 345 V8 in the back of my Scout Terra only to discover that the bounds of my manliness terminated well before my ability to muscle that 800-pound cast iron block out of the pickup bed.

Production Ford Escort heading for Beijing

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Ford's long-dormant Escort nameplate returned affixed to a sedan concept at last year's Shanghai Motor Show. While not exactly a beauty, it showed a clean, straightforward take on Ford's current styling. The Blue Oval said at the time that it wanted to create a model that was stylish "but not one that is arrogant or pretentious." Job done. A year later, it looks like the minimalist vehicle might make its production debut at the Beijing Motor Show.
Autocar claims that the streetgoing version has been confirmed to it for the upcoming show, but so far, Ford isn't saying. If unveiled, the Escort is likely to be produced locally for the Chinese market with a domestic partner. Powertrain details remain a secret, but it seems highly likely that any production model would use a small three- or four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. Sales in other major world markets like ours are unlikely, but a test car was recently spotted in Europe.
Autoblog contacted Ford for confirmation, but the automaker demurred, with a spokesperson saying only, "At the moment, we are not confirming any vehicles planned for the show." It looks like we will have to wait to know for sure.
