For sale is our 2003 Expedition XLT 4X4.  We purchased this vehicle 5 years ago from our neighbor who used it to commute about 70 miles round trip daily for work.  She took great care of it. That's why it has high mileage.  The reason we are selling it is because our kids are off to college and we downsized to an  Escape.  This vehicle is in very good condition and has always been maintained and garaged.  The transmission has been flushed and maintained regularly and it shifts and runs out flawlessly.  All the coil on plug ignition coils have been replaced since we purchased the vehicle and it runs great and used no oil.  It has no leaks.  We had a 3"/2" Ready Lift leveling kit professionally installed.  This style lift has no negative affect on the ride or tire geometry.  It only levels it and lifts it a couple inches.  It looks much better and gives it a more aggressive stance.  We also installed Ford OEM 20" wheels and new 305/60R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires.  You may also notice that we removed the OEM running boards.  We still have them and they're in great shape.  We just liked the look better without them.  I have one picture on here with them still installed so you can see what they looked like.  They go with the vehicle or we can put them back on for you if you like.  Everything works on this vehicle.  It rides and drives like new. The A/C is cold and the forward and rear A/C controls all work.  This is the first year of the fold away rear seats and they are much nicer than those on the 97-2002 Expedition.  Plus the extra legroom in the third row make its very comfortable for adults.  My boys are 6'3" and 6'5" and they fit back there fine.  It's also a split rear seat so cargo/people carrying is very flexible.  We had the 10" DVD system professionally installed and there are 3 sets of wireless headphones.  We installed a performance muffler because I like a little exhaust rumble.  It sound great outside but has no annoying drone inside.  It has a brake controller because our neighbor occasionally pulled a pop up camper.  It has the factory tow package and 3.73 gear ratio.  It has the keyless entry key pad which is very convenient.  We have all the original manuals and key fobs and we have all weather Husky floor liners for the first two rows of seats.

The only issues it has are cosmetic.  The very front of the hood has a small dent in it from hitting a turkey buzzard on the highway.  Instead of getting it fixed and trying to match the paint, I installed the bug deflector to conceal it.  I have a pic showing this.  The other thing is the rear hatch.  You can see from the picture of the back of the vehicle some paint bubbling.  This is NOT rust because the back hatch on these is aluminum so it can't rust.  It was a paint defect from the factory that many of these vehicles have.  It's been that way since we've had it and, again, I chose not to do anything with it because it would be hard to match the paint and it's not hurting anything as is.

Don't let the mileage worry you.  Our last Expy was a 1997 and it had 220,000 miles on it when we sold it.  It's still on the road with the man we sold it to years ago with the same engine and transmission.  This was our family vehicle up until we got the Escape.  It's road ready and can be taken anywhere any time without worry.  I'm a fanatic when it comes to taking care of my stuff.  In fact, I drive my family crazy because I'm so picky with my vehicles.  It's not a new vehicle but it's very nice inside and out for its age.  Contact me if you have any other questions.

How the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor became a reality

Wed, 01 May 2013

The camouflaged Ford F-150 SVT Raptor prototype captured above blazing its way across the desert during a test run left company engineers giggling in amazement, reveals Jamal Hameedi in a new Autoweek video. Ford's global performance vehicle chief engineer, accompanied by senior exterior designer Bruce Williams, sat down with the publication to discuss the concept and development of the automaker's super off-road F-150.
Designing a high-performance pickup in 2008, right when the cost of gasoline was going through the roof, seemed insane at the time, but the team pushed forward with the innovative vehicle regardless. The interview includes plenty of Ford B-roll footage as visual candy, and the conversations include discussions about exterior design, ride comfort, anti-lock brake tuning, suspension engineering, weight reduction and why it was necessary to make the Raptor visually different than Ford's standard F-150. The model's origin story is very interesting, and you can learn more about it by watching the video below.

Bill Ford augments his power by nearly doubling stake of supervoting shares

Fri, 28 Jun 2013

Bill Ford Jr. has more sway than ever over the automaker that bears his surname, as the great-grandson of Ford's founder has reportedly doubled is holdings of Class B Ford stock. According to a report from Reuters (which cites a newly discovered securities filing), he acquired some 3.7 million Class B shares from an unnamed family member.
Class B shares of Ford stock are held by descendants of Henry Ford and offer expanded voting power to their holders - Bill Ford Jr. now controls roughly 11.5 percent of the total Class B pool. Ford Jr. is also a one of five trustees that manage a voting trust that oversees the majority of these "supervoting" shares. In total, Reuters reports there are 71 million Class B shares that account for 40 percent of the voting power in the company, despite making up just 2 percent of the total volume of all Ford stock.
Ford Jr. served as Ford's CEO until 2006, when he stepped down to hire and make space for current CEO, Alan Mulally. The move to consolidate Ford family voting power, at least somewhat, is seen by many as a comforting sign with Mulally's departure from the company likely to happen in the next several years.

What an Atlas-based Ford F-150 might look like

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Just ahead of January's Detroit Auto Show, surprising rumors pegged Ford as revealing some sort of F-150 concept, perhaps as a hurried effort to deflate some of the buzz building around General Motors' new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, which were also making their auto show debut. Those rumblings turned out to be true, as Ford rolled into the Motor City with its Atlas concept (inset, right), touting the truck's bold styling as a precursor to the next-generation F-Series.
The show truck featured all kinds of clever details, including active wheel shutters and a front air dam that raised and lowered to improve aerodynamics while preserving off-road ability. It also had a genuinely snarly face. And it's that pugnacious snout that may well be on its way to production. The good folks at TopSpeed have worked up the plausible-looking artist's rendering above by cross-referencing the Atlas concept with what little has been revealed from recent spy shots. The look is toned-down pretty dramatically from the concept truck, but its Atlas roots are clear, with a massive three-bar grille and bracket-shaped headlamps hiding a next-generation EcoBoost engine. In the rendering, the show truck's deeply contoured hood and roofline have been ditched and larger, more traditional side mirrors have been fitted - all likely concessions in the move to production sheetmetal.
While Ford has yet to officially announce when it will unveil the 2015 F-150, all signs point to next year's Detroit Auto Show - one year after the Atlas shrugged off GM's new pickups.
