THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A DAILY DRIVER AND VERY DEPENDABLE. I PURCHASED A NEW F-150 3 MONTHS AGO AND CAN'T STAND TO SEE IT SIT. I START IT ABOUT EVERY OTHER WEEK AND RUN IT FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR JUST TO KEEP THE ENGINE LUBED UP. IT NEEDS TIRES IMMEDIATELY, AND THE LAST TIME I STARTED IT, I NOTICED THE WATER PUMP HAS A LEAK, SO IT WILL NEED REPLACED SOON, PROBABLY FROM SITTING AND GASKETS DRYING OUT. I AM SETTING THE RESERVE PRICE WITH TIRES AND WATER PUMP IN MIND. IF I REPLACE THEM BEFORE THE END OF THE AUCTION I WILL RAISE RESERVE. THE REASON I BOUGHT THE F-150 WAS BECAUSE I BOUGHT A LARGE BOAT ON EBAY AND I REFUSE TO ABUSE THE EXPLORER BY PULLING IT. BUT NOW THAT I HAVE THE NEW TRUCK THE EXPLORER IS JUST SITTING BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR IT. A CLEAN CAR FOR ITS AGE AND HAS ALL THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE AT THE TIME, INCLUDING REAR AC. MOST OF THE TIME THAT I OWNED IT SINCE 2004, THE REAR SEATS WERE FOLDED DOWN, SO THEY SHOW NO WEAR. THE FRONT IS IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE AND THE CARGO AREA IS AS WELL. SOME IDIOT HIT AND RUN THE DRIVERS DOOR AT MY WORK PLACE, AND AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS, THAT DAMAGE IS SO MINIMAL THAT YOU CAN GET BY WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING FOR A WHILE. I PUT A COAT OF PRIMER AND A COAT OF SPRAY PAINT ON IT TO KEEP IT FROM RUSTING UNTIL I HAD TIME TO DEAL WITH IT... OBVIOUSLY I NEVER GOT THE TIME TO DEAL WITH IT. THE GADGETS ALL WORK, BUT THE LEATHERETTE COVER OVER THE SWITCHES (ON THE STEERING WHEEL) HAS CRACKED AND SOME PIECES HAVE COME OUT (ALSO VISIBLE IN PICS), BUT THE SWITCHES STILL OPERATE PROPERLY. PLEASE EMAIL IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR WANT AN APPT TO DRIVE OR LOOK AT HER. GREAT CAR, BUT NEEDS SOMEONE THAT WILL DRIVE HER.

Feds looking into Ford Explorer exhaust leak complaints
Fri, 20 Jun 2014There may be a burgeoning problem with exhaust leaks in the 2011-2014 model year Ford Explorer. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is examining multiple complaints of a gasoline smell in the cabin of these SUVs. However, the exact cause of this problem is still unknown.
"The agency is reviewing all available data and will take appropriate action as warranted," said a NHTSA spokesperson in an email to Automotive News. Owners seem to generally complain on the regulator's website of the smell entering the cabin through the air vents. At this time, the government organization has not yet opened an official investigation into the problem, though. When it does begin inspecting vehicles, NHTSA posts a detailed breakdown of its public data online.
Similar problems have been reported about the Explorer in the past, though. In 2013, Ford issued a recall for the 2013 model year of the SUV due to a fuel leak that could cause drivers to smell a gasoline odor and repaired them again later for another possible leak. In response to Autoblog's questions, Ford responded via email: "We are not aware of a NHTSA investigation. We are currently reviewing the case and in the event that any action is required, we will address it promptly."
Ford Australia reveals updated Territory, Falcon via Twitter
Mon, 28 Jul 2014Ford may have tied together much of its global lineup under the One Ford campaign, but one market where it still offers unique products is Australia. That will soon draw to a close as well, but before it does, the Blue Oval's Aussie operations are rolling out refreshed versions of its two unique products. For the moment, Ford isn't revealing much in the way of powertrain details, but it has shown off a couple of snaps of the revised products on its in-market Twitter feed.
First up is the new Territory. The SUV is neither based on a front-drive crossover platform nor on a truck frame, but shares its rear-drive underpinnings with the Falcon, taking it a step beyond the Falcon wagon alongside which it sits in Ford's Aussie range. Like the outgoing third-generation SZ Territory, the facelifted version is dominated by a narrow grille and larger front air dam, but further punctuates its big-chinned look with more rugged lower cladding and other metallic inserts that bring its look up to date.
And there's the Falcon, which Ford revealed in XR8 trim just last week and is now presenting in G6E spec. If the XR8 is the performance model, the G6E is the luxury version, swapping in more refined trim like a chrome-slat grille (instead of a black honeycomb), chrome foglamp surrounds, less-aggressive multi-spoke wheels (instead of five-spokes) and a flatter hood (instead of a power bulge). Otherwise, it looks essentially the same as the one we saw last week, its facelift bringing it more in line with the smaller, front-drive Mondeo (which we know here as the Fusion) and other members of the Ford family.
Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout
Mon, 03 Nov 2014Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.
