What a great old truck!  If I had room for it, I would surely keep it.  This 1973 Ford F100 SHORT BED (bed is 6'10") has only 46K original miles, and has been stored properly in Dallas, TX. When you look at the under carriage pictures, you will see that it has surface rust only.  Runs great.  Numbers matching 390 V8, with original Carburetor, C-6 Automatic Transmission with Power Brakes, Power Steering and Air Conditioning which works well (and, again, since I am in DALLAS, I do KNOW air conditioning!)  Original A/C compressor. (or appears to be so, it certainly is the original type).  Engine runs strong.  No smoking at start up, or any other time. It will squeal the tires from a stop, and chirp the tires as the automatic shifts from first to second.  I thought about warming the motor up a little, but it is so original I left it alone.  I did re-build the carburetor recently, replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, and serviced the A/C.  Cigarette lighter works fine, and I use the plug for my phone charger.  All lights work. EVERYTHING works.  Has a few very small dents from over the years.  I installed a Petronix electronic ignition inside the stock distributor.  Works perfectly.  You can take it back to points if you like, but I do not know why you would.  Has 15" Michelin tires that have less than 2000 miles. Had I kept the truck I might have installed slightly larger 15" rubber, but these tires were simply too good to take off now.  They have some years on them, but since the truck has been stored properly, there is no dry rot.  Some of the pictures show the white letters on the tires to be on the outside, but I had them turned in to the inside recently as I prefer that look.  Hubcaps are original Ford.  This truck has what I believe to be the ORIGINAL bias-ply spare tire on the spare tire carrier! (I do not know if it is original, of course, but it is certainly a bias ply tire!) I do not know if the spare was ever on the ground save for maybe rotating the tires.  Original jack is in place under the hood.  Interior looks great!  No rips or tears.  The only place I notice a little wear is when you get out on the driver's side, the seat springs seem a little weak.  When you are in the driving position they seem correct.  Headliner correct and original.  Cargo area and under hood lamps work properly.  Has chrome bumpers, and I have bumper guards for the front.  I removed them, as I think it is a cleaner look. Paint is fading.  It could be compounded and improve its appearance, but it is 41 year old paint.  Bed shows paint scratches, but very light wear on the metal.  One small dent in the front portion of the hood above the F in Ford above the grill.  Looks like a .22 caliber dent!  (Not a hole, just an impression)  All trim pieces and badges are in place  This is a great truck.  It gets compliments EVERY WHERE it goes.  I wish I had a place for it!  NO EMAILS....Please CALL if you have Serious Interest.  214-902-9724.  Thank you for your interest.

Europe's most-wanted classic car is... the Ford Mustang?

Sat, 28 Sep 2013

Over the span of its 49 years and five generations, the Ford Mustang has held a special place in the hearts of automotive enthusiasts in the US, but, as it turns out, this car is also very popular amongst European car lovers. Earlier this summer, AutoScout24 - a new and used car shopping site in Europe - polled around 75,000 European "car lovers" (not sure how they vetted the respondents) to see which cars were the most popular, and the Mustang came out on top over iconic European classics like the BMW M1 and Volkswagen Beetle.
In the whole of Europe, 37 percent of those polled dream of owning a Mustang, but that number jumps in individual countries like Austria (42 percent) and Spain (41 percent). Rounding out the top five popular classics in Europe are the Mini and Citroën 2CV. Find out which cars made up the rest of the top 10 in the press release posted below.

2016 Ford Explorer embarks at the LA Auto Show

Wed, 29 Oct 2014

Twenty-five years since its debut in 1990, Ford will celebrate a quarter century of Explorer models next year with the debut of a refreshed 2016 model at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19. The Blue Oval is keeping mum on hard details about the updated SUV for now, but the brand promises, "a new look, added capability and additional driver-assist technology," in its announcement.
Company marketing boss Jim Farley elaborated a little more on what to expect. "The new Explorer is still the SUV America fell in love with - a vehicle built for the perfect family adventure," he said in the release that you're welcome to read down below.
An updated Explorer is a pretty big deal for Ford's bottom line. Worldwide, SUVs and crossovers account for about 23 percent of Ford's sales, and the segment is projected to grow to around 29 percent by 2020. Ford further says that SUVs and CUVs are the world's quickest growing segment with demand up 88 percent since 2008.

Ford F-250 boots Cadillac Escalade from atop thieves' most-wanted list

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for decades, but along with the good comes the bad, apparently. In addition to being popular with consumers, the Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the F-Series Super Duty has risen in popularity among thieves. Based on its new study, the four-wheel drive crew cab F-250 Super Duty has topped the list for the country's highest rate of insurance theft claims, knocking the Cadillac Escalade from the top spot - a distinction the luxury SUV has held since this annual report was first established in 2003.
To reach its findings, HLDI looks at theft data from the previous three model years (in this case 2010-2012) to determine the frequency of claims for a particular make and mode,l as well as the average payment per claim. As the report points out, the claims aren't always for the theft of the entire vehicle - they can include components (say, wheels and tires) or property taken from the vehicle. At seven claims per 1,000 insured vehicles, the F-250 is six times more likely to suffer a theft claim than the average vehicle.
The Cadillac likely dropped from the top of the list to sixth due to additional theft-prevention features including a steering wheel lock and inclination sensor for the alarm, but GM's other fullsize trucks and SUVs still occupy eight of the list's 10 spots. Some of the least stolen vehicles with below-average loss payments include the Lexus HS250h, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Dodge Journey. Head on over to the HLDI's website for the full list that shows the most and least popular vehicles among thieves from 2010 through 2012.
