1973 FORD F100. TONS OF NEW PARTS!!!

Up for auction is my 1973 Ford F100. It took me a long time to find a truck that has such a nice, solid body and frame, and almost 3 years to get it where it is today. Time and money constraints and it is time to sell it.

Since I purchased the truck about 3 years ago, it has had the front end completely re-done, new clutch, new brakes, a new headliner, oak steering wheel, leather seat, floor pan repair and new carpet, new radiator, new carburetor, new headers and custom exhaust with thrush mufflers, new rear bumper, new waterpump, new freeze plugs, new valve covers, pinion seal replaced. In the last year or so I have replaced all of the lug nuts and installed new tires.

This truck is in excellent condition, especially for a 73. It runs great and sounds wonderful with the headers and thrush mufflers. I just had it pass Va state inspection, and is good until May of 2015. If you are looking for a truck to turn some heads and get some thumbs up from other drivers, this is the one. This would also make a good project if you wanted to clean up the engine compartment and give her a nice paint job and make it a weekend "show" truck.

All said and done with the original price of the truck, I am probably about 2 times more into it than my reserve price. If you are looking for a truck without major rust issues, then this is the one you might be looking for, especially a truck that is here on the East Coast. Frame and body are nice and solid. I had even started brushing, sanding and priming/painting the frame. As far as replacing any items, I really can't think of anything that it might need in the near future as most of it has been replaced. In fact, it also just recently had a new alternator and thermostat as well.

If you have any questions, please send a message, or call Craig at 703-300-4902.

Good luck and happy bidding!!!!

Toyota fears supplier pressure in Australia with GM pull out

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

With Ford and General Motors both announcing an end to production in Australia, the country's auto industry is in a bad way. With the exit of two big players, there's increased concern that a third Australian manufacturer, Toyota, will be forced out, as well.
"We are saddened to learn of GM Holden's decision. This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia," Toyota Australia said in a statement. The GM closure of Holden production will be the direct end to 2,900 jobs, but will also force a dramatic reduction in the size of the country's supplier network, as there will simply be fewer cars to build.
In the same statement, Toyota Australia said it would work with suppliers and local government to figure out whether continuing production Down Under was even feasible. According to Automotive News, a representative for the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union told reporters it was "highly likely" that Toyota would also close up shop within the next few years.

Ford's official Euro aftermarket partner Mountune coming to US

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

Now that we're getting a steady stream of Ford's European offerings, the aftermarket world is finally starting to catch up as well. UK-based aftermarket tuning company, Mountune has just announced that it will be setting up shop in California to provide high-performance and racing parts for Ford vehicles including the Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Mountune lays claim to being Ford's "official European tuning partner," and US buyers will soon have access to these parts through Ford dealerships and with a Ford Racing warranty. Speaking of Ford Racing, Mountune also says that it will be working with Ford's in-house team to develop future components for both street and track. There are no specifics as of yet for which products will be offered here, but the company plans to launch a US-specific website later this month with more information.

NHTSA opens investigation into Ford Explorer PI brakes

Wed, 27 Aug 2014

This year more than most, it's pleasant when we can string together a few days without word of an automaker or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announcing a bunch of new recalls. It's seemingly been a little quiet on this front lately (barring a spider-related Suzuki issue revealed early today), but now we have word of the government safety agency opening a Preliminary Evaluation into the 2013 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, a probe that could potentially affect an estimated 20,000 vehicles.
The issue being investigated concerns failures of the front brake hose on the vehicle that show "small splits in the hoses near the body side ferrule of the hose assembly," according to the agency, and the issue could result in longer stopping distances. The feds have reports of 13 malfunctions affecting 11 Explorer units. However, it's important to note that all of the incidents come from a single, unnamed metropolitan police fleet that operates 46 of them. According to The Detroit News, the failures generally took place between December and July.
NHTSA is investigating further to find if this is a more widespread issue than just this one fleet. Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker confirmed to us, "We are cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do." Scroll down to read the agency's report.
