1974 Ford F-100 Custom 1 Owner 390 V8 on 2040-cars
Silver City, New Mexico, United States
Up for grabs is a 1974 Ford F-100 Custom Long Box. I bought this truck from the original owners wife who's husband bought it brand new . It had been sitting for some time before I purchased it last licensed in 2012. Truck has original paint (Village green & Wimbledon white) and has never been wrecked. Truck was equipped with 3 spd cruise o matic and 390 v8 has power steering and power brakes has a/c but has been removed have original compressor and will come with truck . Truck has a new 4 barrel elelbrock carb and truck runs ok it's not perfect. It had been sitting like I said for two years only being started every few weeks had old gas I've since ran a tank of new gas through the front tank . I have not used the rear tank at all. Motor looks to be stock except the carb and headers. I have replaced the collector gaskets and then noticed a leak on the drivers side header gasket so it does have a leak on the drivers side that will need attention. Truck does leak a little oil but have not noticed it burning any oil. Odometer shows 47k I would guess 147k the wife of owner who passed away said she thought 147k . The interior of truck looks great has some cracks on dash but seat is like mint condition had seat cover on truck since new. Every thing works except the blinkers you have to hold the lever to get them to operate. Oil pressure gauge does not work and left turn signal light on dash is out. Truck doesn't overheat and does drive ok it's old so don't expect a new truck. Tires only have 4k miles on them but they were purchased in 2000 according to receipt they are dry rotted and I wouldn't trust them to drive across the country. Truck has been in NM it's entire life so the sun has rotted all rubber parts on truck. For some reason the owner liked spray paint and painted the engine black and grill guard silver also had even sprayed the mag wheels and parts of engine bay silver.. The truck has rust on hood and spots on truck you see that are covered in primer ( see pictures ) . Windshield is cracked and all other glass is somewhat cloudy and scratched. Owner also did a half ass job with bed liner material in truck bed . Front bumper is bent in a little on passenger side and tailgate latch is not working you can open tailgate by pulling rod with pliers . Truck will come with original A/C compressor , exhaust manifolds , warranty card and owners manual and purchase agreement .
This is a cool vintage truck that has a lot of potential have a clear NM title in my name ready to transfer . If you have zero feedback please contact me before bidding . Truck is at No reserve If you have any questions or need additional pictures please call me at 575-534-9089. Thanks. |

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost already hitting 12-second quarters
Sun, 28 Sep 2014The arrival of a new Ford Mustang means many things to many people, but not least of them is drag racers. The pony car has always been a mainstay of the drag strip, and the Ford Racing team aims to carry that reputation forward with this latest generation. So it cooked up a few basic modifications on three new 'Stangs and headed to the strips at US 131 and Milan Dragway to see what they could coax out of 'em.
Impressively, the 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT with a few modifications (but no forced induction) managed to clock a quarter-mile time of 11.77 seconds. Another Mustang GT fitted with a supercharger clocked a blistering 10.97 seconds. But just as intriguing was the modified EcoBoost model that, with only four cylinders and 2.3 liters of displacement, still passed the gates in just 12.56 seconds - nearly half a second better than expected. This with modification limited to a new subframe, half-shaft, drive shaft loops, exhaust, engine calibration, slicks, roll cage and bucket seat. Well done, boys.
Ford reveals EcoBoost-powered Riley prototype for Daytona 24
Tue, 01 Oct 2013It's not the first time Ford has participated in the Daytona Prototype class as an engine supplier, but in revealing this new EcoBoost V6-powered Riley Technologies prototype for the new United SportsCar Championship, Ford is making a statement: "We want to show Ford EcoBoost's capabilities as an engine that provides both performance and fuel economy, on and off the track," says Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing.
In addition to supplying the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6, Ford had its production designer Garen Nicoghosian give the racecar brand-inspired design cues with support from Ford Racing chief aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus.
The car is scheduled to compete at next year's Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 25-26, but before that, Michael Shank Racing is working with Ford at another goal. Driving his Ford Thunderbird, NASCAR champion Bill Elliott set the track's top speed record at 210.364 miles per hour during a qualifying run for the Daytona 500 - way back in 1987 -- and Ford thinks it's about time for that record to fall. What better time the introduction of this new Ford-powered Daytona Prototype? Michael Shank Racing plans to use the twin-turbo V6-powered racer to beat Elliott's record, and it expects to begin prepping for the top-speed run on October 9. Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant
Sat, 20 Jul 2013Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.
