North Haven, Connecticut, United States

Up for auction is my Silver 2004 Ford Lightning. This is a single-owner, adult owned vehicle! I purchased this truck new from Mantilia Ford, West Haven CT.  It was fully dealer serviced for 3 years. This included oil changes every 3K miles, tire rotations, brakes and new rear shocks. After 3 years and 24,000 miles, I began taking care of oil changes and maintenance. All oil changes were done using Mobil 1, full-synthetic 5W-20 and a Ford Motorcraft or Amsoil filter. I have full service history available. Tires are 90-95% all around.

The truck has about $6500 in modifications. I wanted to build this truck exactly like it should have left the Ford plant. I have retained all original parts with the exception of the stock transmission pan and valve body. The modifications and original parts are included with the truck.

This truck has never been to a track. It was placed on a dyno in August 2004. The truck made 360RWHP, 440RWTQ. I have always taken great care of this truck and it shows.  Please feel free to contact me for high resolution photos and additional information.  I have the original window sticker and SVT certificate of authenticity as well.  The tailgate was replaced due to a dealer denting the seam which could not be removed.  I still have the original tailgate as well.

Modifications are:
Gaylord's X-2000 Fiberglass Bed Cover with Lip Spoiler: $1300.00
BedRug: $330
Clear Bra ("Rockblock"): $1200
Expedition Visor with Home Link Garage Door Opener: $400

Ford 2003/2004 Cobra Upper Pulley: $45
Gatorback Belt: $47
LoTek Single Gauge A-Pillar Pod Painted to Match with OEM Paint: $90
AutoMeter Boost/Vac Gauge: $50

Ford bringing adaptive steering to the masses [w/video]

Thu, 29 May 2014

Within the next year, Ford will offer a brand-new adaptive steering system (unimaginatively dubbed "Ford Adaptive Steering"), and this week, the automaker invited us out to its proving grounds in Dearborn, MI to get a taste for how its new setup works. In function, Ford's system doesn't greatly differ from the majority of other adaptive steering units already on the market from companies like Audi or BMW, but consider this: Ford will be the first non-luxury automaker to offer this technology, and uniquely, the whole system fits inside the car's steering wheel.
Ford's engineers have worked hard to create a system that can be tacked on to the company's full lineup of cars, trucks and utility vehicles, and says that the adaptive steering will be uniquely tuned for each specific vehicle. The automaker will not confirm exactly which vehicle will launch with this technology, but for the purpose of our preview, we tested the technology in a 2014 Fusion - a vehicle with already-good behind-the-wheel feel, one that the company says best demonstrates its current steering efforts.

James Franco and tiger tease Ford Super Bowl commercial

Sat, 01 Feb 2014

Ford has just released a teaser for its Super Bowl ad, and unlike just about every other automaker, it seems that the Blue Oval is going to make us wait until Sunday to see the full spot. The teaser is, um, strange.
It stars James Franco, who believes he is Ron Riggle, the comedian, Fox NFL Sunday host and retired Marine lieutenant colonel. There's also a tiger. The vague spot has Franco claiming that "this is no ordinary commercial." You'll note on the bottom right, there's a Ford logo and the hashtag #nearlydouble.
According to Automotive News, it's part of a massive viral effort being pushed forward by Ford and its dealerships. Ford sent different teasers and "vignettes" to dealership employees and asked them to share them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, in the hopes of creating a viral effect.

Brits recreate iconic Bullitt chase scene

Tue, 13 May 2014

Recreating the famous chase scene from Bullitt has become almost an art form in its own right. We've seen it done in a music video, with scale models and even in commercials. There are few films that are as defined by a single scene as the 1968 classic. Even if you don't know a single beat of the plot, the Highland Green Ford Mustang racing a Dodge Charger through the hilly streets of San Francisco is famous. It's so well known that the Silverstone Classic has created a homage to promote its celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang at this year's event in July.
Filmed around the famous UK circuit, the short film generally gets the key points of the scene right. It even has a green Volkswagen Beetle that keeps reappearing, as in the movie. Unfortunately, its Steve McQueen stand-in looks a little too old for the role. While the video shortens the chase considerably, it's still great to see these '60s behemoths leaning and sliding around the track. Scroll down for a touch of nostalgia thanks to one of the greatest scenes ever in cinema - we've got both the recreation and the original chase seen from the movie waiting for you.
