2002 Ford F150 Evel Knievel "GLADIATOR" 4 door crew cab.  This was the prototype truck produced by Galpin Auto Sports and MTV's "Pimp My Ride" Beau Boeckman.  Less than 10 of these trucks were built.  Evel Knievel had one himself which sold at Barrett Jackson after his death for 100,000!  This truck comes with Galpin Ford's Press Kit and some promotioonal items that were given out at the time the truck was introduced.  The front of this truck has had a "Lightning" front facia with custom grills added. Custom headlight and tail-light lenses. This truck has leather seats that are custom made to look like Evel's leather suit.  The exterior has painted stars and strips that again match Evel's own design.  The dash was signed by Evel in 2002 for my family.  Evel came to Galpin twice for a promotional appearance and that is when the truck was signed.  The dash has custom carbon fiber inserts.  The truck has custom red carpet and floor mats.  The tailgate has a mural of Evel jumping a canyon.  There is also a custom painted #1 Logo on the hard shell locking  bedcover .  The bed is Rhino-lined and has the folding cargo cage.  Tires are 20 inch Goodyear radials with plenty of tread.  The rims are reproduction Ford.  The truck has a lowering kit.  It has gas shocks.  It has a custom Borla stainless steel exhaust.  It has the tow package.  It has custom badging that Beau designed specifically for this truck and it comes with extra badges.  It has a AM-FM Cassette with a 5 disc CD player.  It has a seperate pull down DVD screen on the interior roof.  Truck has a remote keyless alarm.  It has had the oil changed every 4000 miles, transmission service every 15,000.  It has had a coolant flush and differential service at 30,000 intervals.  I have recharged the A/C once.  I have had to replace the fuel pump and the battery only.  I had to repaint the roof due to hail dents, and the paint is peeling on the passenger rear door interior (see photo).  The truck has some small nicks and scratches, and the leather interior is not perfect, but close.  It is a 67,800 mile truck that has been taken care of.  Drive it anywhere.  Buyer responsible for pick up or shipping.  1000.00 paypal due at sale end within 24 hours, balance by Bank Cashier Check please.

How new car shortages may impact your buying experience

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

If you want further proof that the auto industry is bouncing back, look no further than the empty lots and forecourts of your local dealership. According to a story by The Wall Street Journal, continued high demand for mainstream cars is overtaxing automakers' ability to produce enough models. Several dealers interviewed for the story are reporting two-week supplies as opposed to the typical two-month allocations.
With sales expected to hit 1.4 million units when August numbers arrive shortly and incentive spending down to its lowest amount since January, these limited supplies are pushing prices even higher. For example, according to the WSJ, the average price of a Ford Fusion is up past $26,000. Unfortunately, it's difficult for manufacturers to increase production quickly. If it invests in its facilities, as many manufacturers have done, it risks wasting cash if growth suddenly slows. At the same time, the momentum gained over the past several years could be short lived if vehicle supplies continue to dwindle. "Manufacturers are in a precarious situation," notes Karl Brauer, a senior director at Kelley Blue Book.
Low interest rates and a wealth of desirable features are also allowing customers to purchase more expensive vehicles while justifying their higher overall price tags, a situation that is compounding supply shortages. Even now, during the annual end-of-summer clearance season, deals on new vehicles are remarkably difficult to come by. According to the report, the Toyota Corolla is in a self-inflicted state of shortage, as Toyota clears out inventory in anticipation of the new 2014 generation arriving in dealers. Ford's supplies should rebound as Fusion production comes on line at its Flat Rock, Michigan factory. The Chevrolet Impala, Honda Odyssey, Civic, and Accord and Subaru Forester are also facing shortages.

Exceptionally rare '65 Ford GT40 Roadster prototype up for auction

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

Think of mid-engined supercars and your mind is bound to gravitate towards Europe, but the United States has been known to make a handful from time to time - exceptional vehicles from the likes of Vector, SSC, Mosler, Hennessey, and Saleen. But long before any of those came around, Ford famously became obsessed with beating Ferrari at its own game, leading to the development of the iconic GT40.
The story is well known, sending Ford to the checkered flag at Le Mans four times in a row in the late 1960s. Ford and Shelby also built over 100 for public consumption, but just four of them were roadsters. Of those only one remains in original condition, and now that exceedingly rare example going up for auction.
Consigned to RM Auctions for its mid-August sale during Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey, California, this 1965 model is the first GT40 Roadster built. It was used as a development and demonstration vehicle for Ford and Shelby. Carroll Shelby himself drove Henry Ford II in this very car during one of many test and demo events, this time held for Ford's board of directors in Los Angeles.

2015 Ford Focus

Tue, 14 Oct 2014

Sitting down at the pre-drive briefing with Ford engineers ahead of sampling the refreshed 2015 Focus, water bottles clinked as we wet our whistles before Q&A. While pouring a glass, we noticed something stamped on the bottle label: "1L." One liter. We were palming the exact displacement of the EcoBoost engine our group was about to drive. This was undoubtedly coincidence (such bottles litter every conference and dinner table in Europe) but it served to drive home just how small the total swept volume of Ford's wunderkind powerplant really is. It's tiny.
Of course, this isn't our first run-in with the little triple - we've sampled its turbocharged charms before in Ford's smaller Fiesta. At that time, we found it had plenty of poke for the subcompact, but the larger C-segment Focus carries around another 450 pounds or so and pushes a wider profile through the air. Would the three-cylinder have the stuffing to make the most of the Focus' athletic chassis, or would it be a letdown? Would it be the same as it was when we tested it in a Euro-spec Focus a couple of years ago? There was nothing left for it but to head out on the bucolic roads surrounding Versailles the day after the Paris Motor Show and find out for ourselves.
