The water pump failed and I replaced it but the rotor's not turning now. I believe it to be the timing chain. Says 61,xxx on the dash but I am assuming it has 100k more on it. Has a few dents down the driver's side, has a blue tailgate, a few rips in the seat, and the passenger door's lock and window buttons don't work. Has two BB holes through the windshield. Has an aftermarket cd player. Has AC but is disconnected. Comes with a headache rack on the bed. Good tires. I won't ship it so you have to pick it up locally or hire a shipping company. Up to date tags and clear title in my name."

1990 Ford F-250 XLT Lariat 7.5L 5-speed.

Has spare tire and original jack.

The water pump failed and I replaced it but the rotor's not turning now. I believe it to be the timing chain. Says 61,xxx on the dash but I am assuming it has 100k more on it

Has a few dents down the driver's side, has a blue tailgate, a few rips in the seat, and the passenger door's lock and window buttons don't work. Has two BB holes through the windshield. The front turn signal lenses are busted out. All of the lights work.  Has an aftermarket cd player. Has AC but is disconnected. Comes with a headache rack on the bed. Good tires. This truck was my daily driver until the timing chain broke and the water pump blew. The water pump blowing and the distributor not turning when I crank it over leads me to believe that's the cause, but I haven't taken it apart to look.

There is a small rust spot on the passenger side of the truck where the running board used to be. Oil gets into a few of the cylinders so it needs a valve adjustment. I've been using 15w-90 in it and there's still about a half gallon that goes with the truck.

I won't ship it so you have to pick it up locally or hire a shipping company.

Up to date tags and clear title in my name.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Ford S-Max Concept proves minivans aren't always minivans [w/video]

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Ford's latest don't-call-it-a-minivan is called the S-Max Concept, and it's a looker. As you can see, the conceptual overgrown hatch makes good use of Ford's latest design language, especially at the very front of the S-Max, which bears a striking resemblance to production models that include the Focus, C-Max and Fusion.
Powering the S-Max Concept is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, and while Ford doesn't actually list power figures for the concept, previous estimates put the mill at 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet). Inside, there's room for seven passengers and at least some of their luggage.
As you'd expect, the S-Max is loaded up with all of Ford's latest infotainment technology, including Sync and MyFordTouch. More interestingly, there are also onboard heart and blood glucose monitors that we doubt will be seeing the light of production anytime soon. On that topic, don't expect to see any S-Max-shaped vehicles hitting the US market from Ford, either. Scroll down below for the press release, but not before checking out the high-res image gallery above.

Ford reveals concept trucks that ultimately became Atlas

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

The Ford Atlas Concept was one of the quiet success stories of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now Ford has given us a quick glimpse as to how that creation came to be. Designers actually combined two early sketches to build the Atlas. One, called the Bullet Train, is a futuristic, aerodynamic creation, while the other, aptly named the Locomotive, features the squared off proportions we're familiar with.
Once designers settled on the truck's proportions, they began nailing down exactly which attributes they wanted the final design to have. The Concept's notched windshield originated as a forked glass roof that seamlessly transitioned into the windscreen.
Likewise, designers wanted to fit the truck's tailgate with a storage compartment for tools and a first aid kit, but settled on the dual-purpose step/cargo cradle. Interestingly enough, the concept's active aero shutter wheels actually originated in some of the earliest sketches. Check out the photos and slides here for a closer look.
