1994 Ford F250 4x4 Turbo Diesel on 2040-cars

Up for sale is my 1994 Ford truck. I really love this truck but I have a newer 7.3 so this one may go if the price is right. I have used this as a hobby truck. I purchased this truck in 2008 with 145,xxx miles and it now has 179,xxx miles. The miles may change as it is still occasionally driven. For a truck 20 years old I think the paint looks pretty good with light rust; certainly no rust through on the body panels although the paint could use some additional care such as rubbing compound or high speed buffing to improve the brightness. It is 4-wheel drive and it does work.  I have done several repairs through the years which I will list below:
-Rebuilt transmission and a new transmission cooler at 149,xxx miles.
-New alternator approx. three years ago.
-New tires last year. Mastercraft with light wear.
-New front brake rotors last year and Wagner pads all the way around.
-New fuel sending unit last year.
-New Monroe Gas Magnum shocks installed last year.
-Changed the oil approx. every 3,000 miles.
The truck is not perfect so I will try to go into some other details. The interior carpet is soiled and stained in some areas and the seats might have some light stains on them. There are a couple of dents on it which I tried to capture in the pictures. The worst body defect is the rear driver fender where my young daughter jack knifed my utility trailer years ago which also slightly bent the bumper. There is a crack in the passenger side on the front window. The window motors probably need replaced since the windows no longer works but the air conditioner does work! The weather stripping on the bottom of the windows on the door need to be replaced. The motor does has at least one oil leak which is not uncommon for these motors. The truck does idle a little rough when first started and it does smoke a little at first; it has done this the entire time I owned it. The wheels may need to be aligned or it may have some where in the front steering system...not sure.
Hopefully I didn't scare you off but I am more straight forward than alot of people I dealt with. This is still a good truck in my opinion and I won't let it go if too low on the price. Local pickup is preferred but if you want to have it shipped that would be your responsibility to handle all of the details. No warranty and sold as is. A $500 deposit is to be paid by Paypal at the end of the listing and the remainder of the balance is to be paid by Paypal or in person with cash within 5 days. The deposit will not be refundable if the buyer changes his/her mind. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me. Thanks for looking.

Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.

New car market raining on convertibles' parade

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.
