2006 Ford F250 Powerstroke 4x4, Lifted, King Ranch, Short Bed, 54k on 2040-cars
El Paso, Texas, United States
This truck has a Hawaii title that has remarks stating it's an insurance salvaged rebuilt title. In May of 2008 the truck was reported stolen and recovered 3 days later, the insurance company at the time of recovery decided to brand the truck a total loss. Insurance companies will normally do this when a vehicle has been stolen. In May 2009 the truck was sold to a private person that was enlisted in the military. This person registered the truck in Louisiana and then he was later transferred to Hawaii, he had his truck transported to Hawaii and when he got relocated to El Paso TX. in 2013 he had his truck transported back to the states. He traded the truck into a local Ford dealership, and that is from who I purchased it. Cosmetically the truck looks beautiful. After I purchased the truck I had the tailgate and the right side of the bed professionally painted, due to some deep scratches on both, keep in mind it was due to scratches not any body damage. The trucks exterior is all original, this includes paint and all body panels. I can say with complete certainty that this truck has never been in any accidents. Interior condition is excellent, the King Ranch leather is in great shape, the carpet, headliner, dashboard are all in very good condition. Most importantly the mechanical portion of this truck. The engine has 54,730 actual miles, it is in perfect condition, no smoke, no blowby, no oil leaks, no overheating. This engine is original and in exceptional condition. Transmission shifts absolutely perfect, the front and rear differentials and the 4 wheel drive transfer case are in great condition, no out of the ordinary noises or whinning from any of them. Suspension is solid and tight, truck drives very smooth and is extremely comfortable for having a 7 in lift. Air conditioner, heater and all temperature controls work perfect. All air bags and safety belts are in original condition. There are no lights on the dash (check engine, air bag, etc) Perfect oil pressure, no overheating, good brakes. This truck is in excellent mechanical condition, and cosmetically it is in beautiful and original condition ( the only non original paint being on the tailgate and right bed side, which was done exceptionally) Truck has a total of 7in. Fabtech lift. I installed brand new 37x13.50r20lt Hankook Dynapro mt tires on January 20, 2014. Only negatives I can see on the truck are that the front fog lights are not working, the driver side mirror is not working, and two of the shocks show signs of leaking. Factory and added accessories: FX4 King Ranch Back up sensors Tow package Ford nerf bars Spray on bedliner Front power and heated seats am/fm/ 6 disc in dash stereo Power sliding rear window Steering wheel controls (cruise control, radio) Adjustable pedals Power everything Tilt wheel Short bed I am a bonded and licensed Texas used car dealer. The truck is being sold "as is". Buyer is responsible for transportation to their location, tax, title and license in their state. I will release truck and title upon completion of full payment. a $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction close, full payment is required within 5 days of close of auction, cashiers check or personal check has to be cleared by bank before release of title or truck. If you would like any other information or specific pictures feel free to call me at 915-479-1488 my name is Joe. I am in the mountain time zone. |

The fascinating forgotten civil defense history of Mister Softee trucks
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. Click over to Throwin' Wrenches for the full run down of how Mister Softee would have stepped in to help fight if the Cold War ever turned a little hotter.
Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
Ford adding stop-start to all major model lines
Sun, 24 Nov 2013Ford has gone all-in on its efforts to offer most of its new vehicles with a fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine, but the automaker is reportedly preparing to take another big step toward improving vehicle efficiency. Automotive News is reporting that Ford will soon expand the availability of start-stop technology, which was first offered - presumably the first non-hybrid vehicle, that is - on the 2013 Fusion (equipped with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine) as a $295 option.
The benefit of start-stop is reduced fuel consumption as it shuts the engine off at long stops, and AN quotes Ford as saying that drivers can save more than $1,000 on fuel costs over five years. Despite this, the option hasn't been popular on the Fusion thus far, but it could be more beneficial on bigger vehicles like the F-150. Ford also said that the next-gen Edge, which was previewed in concept form at the LA Auto Show, will be equipped with auto start-stop to help make the EcoBoost engines even more efficient.
