1956 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan (four door), in original condition. Original paint and body, seats, etc. No putty or body filler work ever done in 57 years! Minor dents and dings only, but that is to be expected of a car this old. No rusted-through areas, this car was originally sold in Upland, CA and has lived a California life with no harsh winter conditions to take their toll on it. Needs complete restoration. Interior is TOO original, and needs to be replaced. Front and rear glass in excellent condition. Car has electric windshield wipers, not vacuum wipers. Original curb feelers! This car has the original bumper with the dual exhaust ports IN the bumper - this year was the only year Ford included this option, though the exhaust is not hooked up to the ports as of now. New fuel pump and distributor. Will come with extra parts and manuals.

The 292 Thunderbird Edition engine needs a rebuild or replacement. Starts but has a clunking noise, but the engine runs. Will probably not be able to drive onto flat bed, trailer, etc. The car was used as a main mode of transportation up until last month, so it has not been sitting for very long. We purchased this car in Hemet, CA and have owned it for the past 13 years. This would make an excellent candidate for a full-restoration project.

This vehicle is sold AS-IS, and PICK-UP ONLY. Payment will be accepted by PayPal ONLY. Buyer is responsible for ALL shipping or pick-up arrangements. Non-refundable $500 deposit required upon close of auction, FULL PAYMENT REQUIRED WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE.

Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.

2015 Ford F-150 shaves 700 pounds, adds 2.7-liter EcoBoost [w/video]

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

The Ford F-150 is one of the best selling vehicles on the planet. Considering that, one can imagine that when it comes time for a redesign, there are hardly any half measures. For its lucky thirteenth generation, Ford has gone all-in on the single most important vehicle in its portfolio, redesigning it from the ground up.
The big news is the F-150's new, lightweight, Atlas-inspired body. Ninety-three percent of that new body is made from a sort of aluminum alloy not unlike what the US military uses in its M2 Bradley fighting vehicles and Humvees, and it accounts for up to 70 percent of the F-150's 700-pound weight reduction. As a side benefit, the aluminum body should prove more resistant to dents and dings. Built Ford tough, indeed.
If you're wondering where the other 30 percent of that 700-pound weight loss went, 8.5 percent (60 pounds) came from the increased use of high-strength steel (up from 23 percent to 77 percent) in its ladder-box frame. Ford claims this steel is comparable to some of the heavy duty pickups used by its competitors, with a PSI rating of 70,000.

2015 Ford Mustang invades SEMA, led by King Cobra

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Ford showcased more than a dozen customized 2015 Mustangs at its sprawling 20,000-square foot display this week at the Las Vegas Convention Center as the iconic pony car's 50th anniversary celebration continued at the SEMA Show.
While Mustangs are always a hot commodity at SEMA, the new generation brought increased attention from the aftermarket, as builders like Galpin Auto Sports, Richard Petty's Garage and Vaughn Gittin Jr. offered their takes on the new 'Stang.
The extensive display included a range of Mustangs from mild to wild, with everything from a 600-plus horsepower King Cobra pictured at the top, to paint-and-wheel packages. The new regal Cobra, which we spied early in our SEMA adventure this year, may not be the replacement for the Cobra Jet as we speculated, but it does seem to point the way forward for the next iteration of a supreme Ford dragster. Fat drag slicks out back make it's reason for being abundantly clear, and for tells us that modded car is good for a 10.97-second quarter-mile run.
