1980 Ford Fairmont Futura Sport Coupe on 2040-cars
Muscle Shoals, Alabama, United States
You're bidding on a 1980 Ford Fairmont Futura 2-door Sport Coupe. The car came with a 6-cylinder with automatic, however, I pulled the 6 out of it because I was going to put a 302 V-8 in it. So, the engine is now absent (it was locked up anyway).
It features an AM/FM radio with factory A/C, and the rarest part is the factory Sunroof. The Sunroof is in great shape and comes with the cloth bag to slip it into and put in the trunk for an open-top feel. All the glass is good. The original red seats are good, but the headliner will need to be fixed. It is in the original white with the red "sports stripes" along the roof and rear. The body is straight and has only tiny flecks of surface rust. My original intention was to put the 302 in it and make it into a nice driver with new paint and thin-band whitewalls. However, other projects that need my attention more have come along, so I'm forced to sell it. You don't hardly ever see the Fairmont Futura 2-doors, and fewer with the Sunroof. She would make an excellent (and cheap) restoration project. How many of these do you still see running around? The car, of course, is not running, so please make arrangements for pick up or delivery. Write with any questions. Thank you. |

This woman owns the first Ford Mustang sold in the US
Wed, 11 Dec 2013As Ford celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Mustang with the unveiling of the all-new sixth-gen design, one Chicago women can lay claim to a piece of Mustang history. According to CBS Chicago, Gail Wise was the first person in the US to buy a Mustang in 1964, and she did so two days before the car was even unveiled to the public.
Wise, then a 22-year-old teacher, went into the Chicago Ford dealership wanting to buy a convertible, and a salesperson ushered her over to car covered by a tarp. That car was a baby blue Mustang convertible, which she still owns today - along with the documentation. After sitting for almost 30 years and undergoing a full restoration, the car now looks to be in original condition. The report says that this $3,400 purchase could be worth anywhere between $100,000 and $250,000. While this worked out well for Mrs. Wise, we wouldn't recommend anyone going into a dark, back room of a dealership hoping to get a jump on the purchase of a 2015 Mustang.

"It's about some of the biggest crises in history. It's about who did it right and who did it wrong." - Jason Vines
Jason Vines, the former head of public relations at Chrysler, Ford and Nissan, has seen a lot during his more than 30-year career, and now he's offering a behind-the-scenes look at the auto industry in his tell-all book What Did Jesus Drive? that went on sale this month.
Ford S-Max Concept previews new look, technology for Euro seven-seater
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Ford unveiled today the S-Max Concept, which comes with a new, sleek look and loaded with innovative technology, such as a heart-rate monitoring seat. But if you're heart is set on a minivan sports activity vehicle (SAV) and you live in the States, don't wait for this one - it's a Europe-only product, and we don't expect that to change when the next-gen S-Max is released.
The styling follows Ford's global design language, looking a bit like an overgrown Focus hatchback with the company's signature grille, wraparound headlamps, steeply raked windshield and curved roof line. Ford also implemented details to make the S-Max look longer and faster, such as a feature line on each side of the vehicle and muscular-looking fenders. The engine isn't Ford's most powerful, but the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine should be potent enough with turbocharging and other efficiency related technologies.
Ford says the new interior, which seats up to seven people, features high-quality materials and fine detailing, such as an "ultra-soft" leather wrap for the instrument panel and leather and carbon-fiber details on the seats. Ford's Sync connectivity system with MyFord Touch makes the car a wireless hotspot, and there's a tablet docking station for second-row occupants.
