1962 Ford Falcon. Tube Chassis with mustang 2 front end. New Weld Pro Star wheels with Mickey Thompson tires. Skinny fronts and 29x15.5x15 rear. New front and rear disc brake setup with under dash mounted Chrysler master cylinder. New Glasstek cowl hood and front and rear bumpers. New 15 gallon cell, battery box and motor mounts. Setup for SBC and 400 turbo. This could easily be converted over to a Ford drivetrain with mounts and a crossmember Ford 9" rear that is braced with Strange 31 spline axles. Rear is a 3 link setup with coilovers. Car has a full cage with swept door bars as well as a halo bar. All work was professionally done with the receipts to show. Car is a roller with new flaming river column as well. A lot of work has been done, but there is still quite a bit to do. I have lots of used parts that go with the car as well. I also have a clear title. I have a lot more invested in the car than my asking price and I have receipts for everything. Would make a great drag or prostreet car. Ran up on a new project and would rather finish that out. As with any project in this state it would be best to come look at it yourself or have it inspected. Amid Mulally rumors, Bill Ford praises company's deep bench
Wed, 02 Oct 2013Bill Ford went on the offensive to combat the rumors that CEO Alan Mulally would leave Dearborn for Steve Ballmer's vacated position leading Microsoft, adding that even if the 68-year-old, former Boeing exec were to depart, the Ford executive team is in a good place.
"I'm happy [Mulally] is going to stick around. But we also feel really good about where we are in terms of succession," Ford told Bloomberg TV, according to Automotive News. Rumors first cropped up about Mulally leaving Ford when AllThingsD speculated that he was in the running, early last month. In that same report, which you can read here, Ford's board of directors reportedly okayed the CEO stepping down ahead of his planned retirement in 2014.
That opened the floodgates, culminating in a report from a few days ago that the rumors over Ballmer's successor just might be true. The story is especially troubling, as Ford hasn't had Mulally under contract, according to AN. "He's here as long as he and I would like it to happen," Ford said, "We're also cognizant of training the next generation and getting them ready to go as well."
Ford nets $5.7B in 2012, $1.6B in fourth quarter
Tue, 29 Jan 2013Ford brought in $5.7 billion in net income during 2012, which is around $307 million less than one year prior. Even so, the automaker closed out 2012 with the highest pre-tax profit for a single quarter in nearly 10 years, earning $1.7 billion in the fourth quarter thanks largely to a higher-than-average truck mix in the US. That's a jump of $577 million over 2011. Likewise, that translated into fourth quarter income of $1.6 billion. All told, Ford set a full-year pre-tax profit record in 2012. But that doesn't necessarily mean everything is rosy in the land of the Blue Oval.
Like every other manufacturer, 2012 saw Ford get hammered in the European Union, where a deep economic recession continues to drive down consumer confidence. The automaker lost more than $700 million in Europe, and saw full revenue of $26.6 billion in 2012. That's a decline of $7.2 billion compared to last yea. Ford says the market for new vehicles in Europe has contracted to 13.5 million units, the lowest number in 17 years. You can read the full press release below for more information.
NHTSA and Ford investigating steering issues in Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Marauder
Fri, 11 Jul 2014There may be more steering woes for the Ford Crown Victoria. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary evaluation into the Crown Vic and Mercury Grand Marquis from the 2004 to 2007 model years and the Mercury Marauder for the 2004 and 2005 model years because the steering shaft can jam. The issue could potentially affect an estimated 500,000 vehicles.
According to the regulator, there is a possibility that the driver's side heat shield for the exhaust manifold can rust, dislodge, and then wedge into the steering shaft. If this occurs, it leads to a situation where the driver can no longer control the car.
NHTSA has received five complaints of this happening, including one alleged case with an injury. In that situation, the car was driving onto the highway, lost control and rolled over. One occupant was hurt in the accident.
