For sale is a 1967 Ford Falcon Futura Wagon with a 289 V8. The car has A CLEAR NORTH CAROLINA TITLE in my name. It has 158,700 miles on it and it does run and does drive. It is optioned from the factory with the 289 V8, Automatic Transmission, 3.00:1 Rear Gear Ratio, Air Conditioning, Power Assist Ram Steering, Power Brakes, Power Rear Window, Luggage Rack, Front Sway Bar, Towing Package Rear Suspension, Day/Night Mirror, and AM Radio. The car is a highly optioned car within a low production run 1 of Approx. 4500 made so it would be a good candidate for an as is fixer upper driver, a full restoration, or a resto-mod car.

Please read on for more specifics of the car:

Body/Paint: The body is in fair condition with minimal rot with some surface rust all as pictured.-Specifically the lower portion of the tailgate, in front of the rear tire area above the outer rocker panels near the back doors, under the tail light, and some other small attention areas. The front and rear floors are solid and the big trunk floor is 98% with only a couple small pin holes in the rear corner about a foot towards the middle, and a foot forward from the back tailgate.(probably due to moisture sitting under the rear trunk rubber floor mat). The paint is original and it maintains its copper color, the wheels are black with painted silver dog dish hubcaps.

Interior: The interior is original to the car and showing some wear. The headliner should be replaced as well as the carpet and dash pad. The original bench seats are in good condition with the only blemish being on the drivers seat bottom as pictured. The original rubber trunk mat is also still in the car. The door windows all roll up and down as they should.

Electrical: The wiring harness and original wiring are present and work. All of the gauges except for the fuel gauge work, all of the exterior lights work as well. The blower for the AC or heater does not turn on. The AM radio does turn on and work but would need a new dash speaker. I had the power rear window motor disassembled, fixed and reinstalled so the window went up and down, but it just stopped in the full up(closed) position, not sure why now.

Running Gear:Original 289 V8 engine that runs. It was tuned up with new plugs, cap, and rotor also an oil change with valvoline oil and a motorcraft filter. A new Duralast Lifetime starter and fan belts were installed as well. A new fuel filter was installed as well as a mild carburetor freshen performed. The engine still retains a miss that should go away with driving it. I would go through engine and re-gasket it to make it 100% and reliable. The AC needs to be recharged. The heater core is bypassed. The radiator does have a decent leak and should be replaced. However the transmission was rebuilt by the previous owner and shifts properly. The rear end is a 9" and has a 3.00 gear.

Steering/Suspension: The power assist steering ram leaks and needs to be rebuilt. The steering components are original and have been greased where greasable. The suspension is stock and original with the optional towing package rear leaf springs and front sway bar.

Brakes: Optional power front and rear drum brakes with booster working properly. The brakes have been gone through with 4 wheel cylinders, hoses, and the master cylinder being replaced. I had new bearings and inner wheel seals installed in the front hubs while the brakes were being serviced.

Glass:  All of the glass is original and not cracked.

Bright work:  All of the correct original brightwork is on the car.

Exhaust:  Currently has old duel dumps exiting under the car, but needs a full exhaust system put on.

Wheels/Tires:  The wheels are 14" steelies with dog dish hub caps, with 4 decent tires.

Summary: The car is not the best I've seen, but by far not the worst. Keep in mind I have driven this car through all 3 gears up to 60 mph, and it was not just once or twice, so it does work under its own power. With its rarity and high options, clear title, running condition, and its ability to drive and stop, it makes it all worth the while. It is a cool car and I have not seen another one in person to date.

Disclaimer:  The car is for sale locally.  The owner has the right to cancel the auction at any time for any reason.  No warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied with the car being sold in "AS IS" condition.

If you have any questions about the car at all, please feel free to ask and I will post them to the eBay page for everyone to see.

Thank you for your time and interest. Happy Bidding!

2015 Mustang-based Saleen S302 to boast as much as 640 hp

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

The Ford Mustang is obviously a famous performance vehicle in its own right, but it often works even better as a platform for the aftermarket to upgrade. With the all-new 2015 model just now hitting the scene, the famous tuners at Saleen are getting their improvements for the new pony car ready for the world. After recently teasing it, the specs for its fresh S302 model are officially here, along with a first look at it in profile.
Of course, the biggest question on everyone's mind is how much power the company can get from the Mustang's V8. With the 2015 V8 model rated at 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet, Saleen expects to bump the Ford factory numbers slightly to 450 hp and 410 lb-ft in naturally aspirated form, or with the benefit of a supercharger, it will rocket the engine's output figures to 640 hp and 565 lb-ft. No matter which powerplant a buyer chooses, there are a wide variety of available final-drive ratios with a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
Available as either a coupe or convertible forms, Saleen will offer its S302 in three trim levels - White Label, Yellow Label and Black Label. The White Label is the only naturally aspirated one of the bunch, but it still benefits from upgrades like a new exhaust, limited-slip differential, improved suspension, heat extractor hood and rear wing.

Ford to build next F-150, outgoing model concurrently?

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Ford is rumored to be considering concurrent production for old and new F-150 models in a bid to minimize supply chain disruptions and inventory. Automotive News is reporting that the Blue Oval will build both the current F-150 and its replacement, which we showed you testing just last month, side by side for about half a year before switching over entirely to next-generation production.
As IHS Automotive analyst Mike Jackson told AN, "In order to ramp up, you have to retool...and that means you have to take capacity offline." Building both models alongside could allow Ford to cope with the still strong demand for the current F-150, while populating dealer supplies and working out supply chain kinks for the new model before making a full-time switch.
A loss of capacity when demand is so strong, even for a short period, could spell bad news for Ford, which nets an estimated 90 percent of its global profit on pickups and large SUVs. As AN states, Ford produces the F-150 in both Kansas City, Missouri and Dearborn, Michigan, which allows it to maintain some degree of flexibility in production. The new F-150 is expected to arrive at the 2014 North American International Auto Show as a 2015 model, with a design inspired by the Atlas Concept first shown at the Detroit Auto Show last January.

Automakers' rush on aluminum may result in shortage

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

Aluminum is the new buzzword in the automotive industry. The latest Range Rover and Range Rover Sport both take advantage of the lightweight material to shave huge amounts of body fat (only it's called "aluminium" over there). Audi and Jaguar have been using the stuff for years in their A8 and XJ, respectively, and now, aluminum is going mainstream, arriving on the 2015 Ford F-150.
While we're excited to see aluminum make an impact outside the premium market, its widespread adoption apparently won't come without some problems, notably in terms of supply. "There isn't an automotive manufacturer that makes vehicles in North America that we're not talking to," Tom Boney, of Novelis, the largest global supplier of aluminum sheetmetal, told The Detroit News.
According to Boney, Ford's use of aluminum on such a large scale has forced auto manufacturers in "every boardroom" to reconsider their plans following the F-150's unveiling, for one simple reason: there's not exactly enough aluminum to go around, at least in the short term. The auto industry presently only accounts for six percent of the aluminum sheet produced, but as the material is adopted by more and more brands, that figure is expected to swell to 25 percent within the next six years.
